Reviews of usb 2.0
Worth it
Review of Integral i-Pen - USB flash drive - 4 GB by
fna2007
Advantages: Good Storage
Disadvantages: Price maybe for some
...This USB flash device i would say its a nice design looks neat and smart. The difference between this and normal Usb pen drives is many dont come with the right cap designs at the top which causes problems when unfastening them and this one has a very strong hold to at the end of it. The good thing about that is when you drop you USB that no damage is done to it especially when there are important files in your USB.
The USB comes with a 4 Gigabyte storage capacity, the problem with this device is it would not be ideal for the people who have confidential stuff on their USB'. The problem is simple no password protection and any one who has suffered a problem like this before knows how easy it is for one to lose files just like that.
Overall 4 GB is enough for the average person to use the USB pen drive and the price you can pick it up...

usb hub
Review of USB HUB 4P - hub - 4 ports by
kbestant
Advantages: very useful
Disadvantages: drains speed more devices you have
..., plugged into the hub, your transfer speed to the harddrive will suffer considerbly, compared to going through one port, this saying, having the extra four ports for mice keyboards and printers you will see no real slump in process time which is great.
if u are looking to have external harddrive or trasnnfer big photos or videos from a camera i would reccomend getting a usb 2.0 hub, which transfers at 480mbs which would do the job nicely, but then u have to have a usb 2.0 port already in ur pc, which they are not in lots of older machines, and this usb 1.0 hub is a lot cheaper to buy, so its greatness is dependant on your situation, but it is still a very useful product....

General Hubub
Review of Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Pocket Hub - hub - 4 ports by
LegendaryMrDude
Advantages: Small, USB2
Disadvantages: Spacing of the USB ports
...USB has been a fantastic leap forward in the way we connect stuff to our computers. In fact, it's so good that it's almost become a victim of it's own success.
Looking in my laptop bag, I've got a USB flash drive, a USB smart-card, a USB hard disk and a USB mouse - all of which I use on a regular basis.
Looking at my laptop, I've only got 2 USB ports. Yes, USB is pretty good at plug'n'play so adding/removing devices isn't a huge problem. There are times, however, when I need to have more than two devices plugged in at the same time. I need more USB ports!
Until laptop manufacturers see fit to build in more USB ports, I'm going to stick with my Belkin 4-port USB hub. Costing £20 from PC World (and probably a lot less form anywhere else), it's small enough to carry around, has it's own built-in cable to connect to the PC and comes...

Ideal for your keyring
Review of Corsair Flash Voyager USB 2.0 - USB flash drive - 1 GB by
grooveriw
Advantages: Durable and fast
Disadvantages: Slightly bigger than other models
..., both in speed terms (as long as the PC has USB 2.0)and ease of installation. Simple plug the drive into a spare USB socket on a Windows ME PC or highier and Windows need no other software. Within a few seconds of first plugging it in, he drive shows up in "My Computer" as a "Removable Drive", and it's ready to use.
Conclusion
**********
A great USB drive which would take plenty of knocks with performance to match. It is ideal to keep on your keyring as being knocked against the keys, coins etc in your pocket wouldn't effect it at all.
The only disadvantage I would say about this drive is that it is slightly larger than some other models on the market, being just under 3" long, so its not the smallest around.
The drive is not really any more expensive than other models, retailing for around £12-£15 pounds (at the time of writing...

Great hardware, but where is the software.
Review of Belkin USB 2.0 Hi-speed PCI Card by
Longshanx
Advantages: Speed and number of available ports
Disadvantages: Occupies one PCI slot, no USB2.0 driver yet!?
...Belkin - a name you can trust for quality hardware. That is enough justification for me, having struggled for ages (and failed miserably) to get the USB ports on my motherboard to work reliably (VIA Chipset - yuk!).
So, I head straight for the shops to find a plug-and-play USB card so that I can add some working ports to my PC, and connect up my new digital camera without messing about with serial communications errors.
Belkin seemed to have the answer, this four port USB card that plugs into one of my motherboard's spare PCI slots. As a bonus, it also claims to support the new USB 2.0 standard. Not that I need version 2.0 just yet, but it always pays to be ahead of the game if you can afford it.
So the box arrives, and I eagerly unpack it - only to find that Belkin have pulled a rather mean trick. They haven't written the USB 2.0...

Easy to install USB 2.0 PCI card
Review of Archos PCI USB 2.0 PC Expansion Card by
volcano
Advantages: Easy to install
Disadvantages: None
...I have bought this PCI card a week ago.
Reason: I have got a MSI K7T266Pro2 motherboard that only offer USB1.1 ports (1.5Mbytes/s maximum transfer rate).
Since I have got devices that uses USB2.0 and without breaking my piggy bank to upgrade my computer, the most economical way is to install a PCI card that offers USB2.0 connections (up to 480Mbits/s or 60Mbytes/s, 40X faster than USB1.1) for 1 internal port and 4 external ports.
Before you buy a USB2.0 PCI card, make sure that your motherboard got version 2.2 PCI slots which are USB2.0 compatible.
If your motherboard hasn't got version 2.2 PCI slots or higher, don't bother. You need a motherboard upgrade.
Also, your operating system needs to be windows 2000 service pack 4 or windows XP which provides appropriate drivers to support USB2.0. For the other operation systems...

What To Do With All Those USB Plugs
Review of Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub - hub - 4 ports by
jamiem
Advantages: Easiest Possible Installation
Disadvantages: Uses Yet Another Mains Socket
...Trying to think of a funny one liner to start this opinion like I usually do has been somewhat impossible, so I haven’t got one this time. Sorry :(
Anyway, on we go.
----=What Is USB?=----
Universal Serial Bus. In short, USB is the type of connection that almost all devices (such as printers, scanners, camera's etc) use to connect to your computer. It is a small rectangular socket found on the back (or front) usually found in pairs.
*Warning Techie bit coming up*. Old Serial devices used to be able to transfer data at about 112kb per second. USB can transfer at more like 12Mb per second. This opens up the opportunities to huge data transfer, much much quicker than ever before. This is known as USB 1.1. There is however an even newer version of USB on the horizon. USB 2.0 supports data transfer of speeds up to 480Mb per second...

Belkin USB - Expansion made easy
Review of Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub - hub - 4 ports by
gavb
Advantages: Good Quality, Easy to use
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...The Belkin 4 port USB hub is the ideal way to add additional usb ports to your computer. It plugs into 1 usb slot on your machine, and gives you 4 new ports. With it's own power supply, it can provide proper 500 mA per port power, and each port comes with it's own overload setting. As USB becomes more and more popular, this is an easy expansion method, enabling you to chain up to 127 devices together. Although a little bit more expensive than some rivals, it not only looks stylish, but can be linked together with the Busstation to give you lots of different component options. Installation was easy, as windows picks it up straight away and uses it's own drivers....

USB No Good To Me
Review of Genius CR-601U by
Champ666
Advantages: Easy To Use and Carry
Disadvantages: Not For USB 1.1
...Plugging your digital camera into your PC to get photos from is not a good idea as it can severley deplete your battery life. Which is why I bought this beastie it can take the following cards, CompactFlash Card - type I/II, Memory Stick, SD Memory Card, and SmartMedia Card. I have used it with the last two on this list.
Installing this thing was initially a bit troublesome as even though it claims to be USB1.1 compatable it is not you need USB 2.0 slots on you computer. If you have USB 1.1 slots then you will not be able to use this thing. If you have USB 2.0 slots then with Windaes XP all you have to do is plug it in and you are away.
To retreive data from your card all you do is plug it into the appropiate slot and explore it with windows explorer, and treat it as a removable drive.
As an avid digital photographer this beastie...

Sony Micro Vault 5GB USB Drive
Review of Sony Micro Vault USB flash drive - 128 MB by
patwanet
Advantages: High capacity, Auto-sync software
Disadvantages: High initial cost
...The sony micro vault is a lightweight and practical solution to the hassle of transferring files one from one location to another.
It's light weight and small size mean that it can easily fit into a trouser pocket or laptop bag. The USB 2.0 interface means that it will be compatible with nearly all pc's purchased within the last 6-7 years, removing the hassle of burning CD's or DVD's only to find that the destination computer's drive does not support their speed or format. USB 2.0 means that files will transfer quickly and easily, with 5GB taking just a couple of minutes.
The Micro Vault also has auto-sync software, allowing you to sync files on your computer and usb drive at the click of a mouse. No need to fiddle around with copy and paste. You can also store multiple versions of a document or other file at different stages...
