Cool Pictures from Coolpix
Review of Nikon Coolpix 5700 by
gwarwick
Advantages: Excellent picture quality, very sturdy, great manual controls
Disadvantages: Couple design faults, menus slightly confusing
...The Nikon Coolpix 5700 was introduced in September 2001, as a replacement for the Coolpix 5000, but is this camera right for you? Find out in my review...
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
Inside the retail box you should find the following:-
- The 5 million megapixel Nikon Coolpix 5700 camera
- 16mb CompactFlash memory card
- EN-EL1 rechargeable Li-ion battery
- Battery charger
- Neck & lens cap straps
- USB & Audio/Video cable
- CD ROM software including NikonView 5
- 179 page manual
The only downside to this retail bundle is the memory card. One of the most vital accessories of any digital camera is its ability to store photo’s, but Nikon only dispatch this top of the range camera with the smallest memory. It is far too small for a camera of this resolution. Therefore, a key point to remember is to also buy a much larger Compact...

TINY NIKON LIVES UP TO EXPECTATIONS.
Review of Nikon Coolpix 3100 by
SNOOPDOGGY
Advantages: Great picture quality. Colour performance. Top-nocht CCD.
Disadvantages: Tiny. Flash performance.
...97 percent at telephoto. Given that I like LCD monitors to be as close to 100 percent accuracy as possible, the 3100 performed fairly well here.
6- The Coolpix 3100's battery life is about 83 minutes in its worst-case power drain mode.
7- If you turn off the LCD this life can get as long as 4 days!!!! Amazing.
8- Last but not least a final question: What do you get in the box where the Coolpix lies waiting for you to use. Well, A wrist strap; a 16 MB lexar CompactFlash card; video cable; USB cable; two non-rechargeable AA batteries; a CD-ROM with the drivers and Nikon View software and the usual instruction manual.
Verdict.
From the sharp Nikon optics to the full range of exposure control, this Coolpix may satisfy a wide range of users.
As in the earlier 885 and 775 models, Nikon continues to extend the Coolpix line...

Nikon - Coolpix 4200
Review of Nikon Coolpix 4200 by
mickey1949
Advantages: Small, compact and easy to use
Disadvantages: Price and 2 hour charge time on battery
...together, using the software provided by the camera, to give you superb panoramic shots.
· The camera is also capable of taking movies, which are stored as Quick Time movie files. The camera takes movies at the rate of 15 frames per second and each frame is saved at either 640 x 480 pixels, 320 x 240 pixels or 160 x 120 pixels dependant on the quality required.
· Pictures taken by the Coolpix 4200 can be downloaded to your computer using the USB cable provided with the camera or printed directly on your printer, provided that your printer supports PictBridge.
The Nikon Coolpix 4200 comes complete with an excellent instruction manual, which is well written and easy to understand. The camera contains many useful features, which make it very user friendly and an incredible buy at the guide price....

Nikon Coolpix 3100
Review of Nikon Coolpix 3100 by
Melbug
Advantages: Easy to use, excellent picture quality, clear bright LCD, preset photo modes, picture enhancing options.
Disadvantages: Small memory card, short battery life, no case supplied.
...Nikon Coolpix 3100
I would class myself as an enthusiastic amateur photographer and having researched the digital camera market for three months I eventually decided on the Nikon Coolpix 3100. I was not disappointed. This light weight 3.2 million pixel camera is easy to use and has excellent results.
General
The camera has a maximum picture resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and this produces clear and detailed pictures which are photo quality up to about A4 printed size.
Memory Card
It uses CompactFlash memory cards and is supplied with a 16MB card which is adequate to begin with but I would recommend getting a much bigger card once you have got the hang of the camera as you can only fit 10 images in maximum quality on the card. They are around £30 for a 128MB one if you shop online.
Connection
It uses a USB...

My thoughts on the Nikon Coolpix 3100
Review of Nikon Coolpix 3100 by
Julie_ha_francis
Advantages: Small (Pocket sized) but not fiddly, Good instructions and easy to use and excellent pictures.
Disadvantages: Batteries don't last very long but this is always the case with cheap Digital Camera's
...opted for an extra 128 MB memory but you get a 16 MB card with the camera
Rechargeable batteries and also battery charger and power cable
Camera Strap (very easy to put on and short enough so it doesn't get in the way
USB interface cable and Video cable
Warranty
Envelope with all other important information and two CD's:
Nikon View CD-ROM that is software programme where you can transfer, browse, view and make minor adjustments to your digital images and also print or email output directly.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0
The whole price including delivery and the extra accesories such as the extra memory and carry case came to £196.00
After looking through all this information I was eager to get started so I looked at the Quick start guide (v.helpful) and followed the instructions on how to charge the batteries...

Nikon Coolpix 775
Review of Nikon Coolpix 775 by
picasso2k
Advantages: It's small, attractive and takes great photos!
Disadvantages: None that I've found so far.
...the camera's USB cable or a card reader with Nikon View 4 which comes on a cd. It's also possible to earmark the photos you want to transfer on the camera, and it's done automatically when you connect it to the computer. Included on the disc is FotoStation Easy which is a useful image database program.
Thus far I've taken photos at the medium (normal) setting and the prints compare favourably with ones from any "normal" camera. I even printed one out to A4 size by mistake and I couldn't fault it for colour or detail. It's framed and on my wall, looking great!
I generally use the Auto exposure setting since it seems to work well, but I have used various of the pre-sets with good results. Sunsets and indoor shots turn out particularly well using their special settings. I've taken outdoor, indoor, night-time, day-time shots and have had...

putting the COOL in coolpix
Review of Nikon Coolpix 775 by
rishibave
Advantages: tiny-light-good picture quality-see op
Disadvantages: zoom could be better
...feature is fantastic! In the actual box you get:
The Nikon coolpix 775 camera
Wrist strap (handy for keeping hold of your camera!)
USB cable (needed to transfer your images to your PC)
Video cable
Rechargeable Li-ion battery (has a good battery life)
Battery charger
CD with Nikon view 4.0 and fotostation easy software
8mb flash card (right this isn’t really big enough-I suggest buying a 32 mb flash card if you want to make good use of your camera!)
The zoom facility on the camera is pretty good but if you use top zoon-the quality of the picture isn’t as good when enlarged! There is a 1 button transfer system which is great. The pictures transfer to your computer lightning fast! You can delete photos from your camera using your PC too.
The average price of the camera is about £270 and a 32mb flash card can be obtained...

nikon camera ( re-written, please re-read!!!)
Review of Nikon Coolpix 2100 by
barney_mcrury
Advantages: good quality, reasonably priced, easy to use
Disadvantages: no case
...read (most) of it, but for what i want it to do for me i know how to use it.
o0o0o0o Uploading Pictures o0o0o0o
When you install the software onto you PC it installs Nikon View 6, and Arcsoft Panorama maker, Nikon view is where you can manage all of your pictures and where you control where they are uploaded to. The panorama maker is a very clever program where you can put in a few pictures you have taken of a building etc, that you have had to take more than one picture, it then puts all of them together to make one big, high quality, picture.
The camera comes with a 8mb card, which on high quality (1600) will take 15 pictures, this isnt many but i bought a 128mb card for £24 from e-buyer.com and it holds hundreds!!
The pictures are uploaded through a USB cable which connects directly to you PC, all you do is connect the camera...
