Lexar JumpDrive USB 512mb
Review of Lexar JumpDrive Secure II - USB flash drive - 512 MB by
blackhawk204
Advantages: Portability, ease of use, money saver, plug-and-play.
Disadvantages: Small (ish) storage capacity.
...Lexar JumpDrive Secure ll is a USB flash drive with a good 512mb storage capacity.
It boasts plug-and play functionality, allowing you to pop it into any usb drive on a mac, pc or server and drag and drop files 'to and fro' as desired. (Ease of access depends on the o/s you have installed, i use both OSX10 and vista, both work great!)
Now 512mb isn't exactly the king as storages spaces go (you can get upto 8gb now!!!) but its perfect if you only transfer the smaller files such as word docs, the odd song or two. If you are moving larges directories then this isn't for you and would recommend you look at the size of file/directory you have and purchase accordingly.
Perfect for the school/college user and you can pick them up for around £5.00 give or take a penny or two, so it is hardly a wallet burner.
Lexar is a well trusted...

CD Burner Paradise for 84 Pounds
Review of Samsung CD-RW SW-408 by
john.sw
Advantages: Cheap, fast, reliable, good software
Disadvantages: No fancy box to throw away
...Fancy a CD-RW drive? Don’t waste your money on a £140 model; there is one for £84 that will do everything you need.
My first CD-RW burner cost over £200 and had the amazing record speed of 2x. The old Memorex still works well, but I wanted a new burner for a different desktop PC and did not want to spend a lot.
The Samsung SW-408 from redstore.com doesn’t come in a fancy box (who likes paying extra for the box anyway?) but is supplied with a good instruction book, a spare drive to audio cable and a CD with all the software you need to be up and running in minutes. It records a 8x in both CDR and CD-RW mode and reads at 32x.
For £84 you get a reliable burner with OPC for consistent recording on a disc with dust or fingerprints. It also supports variable packet CD-R, variable and fixed packet which means that you...

Sony Micro Vault 5GB USB Drive
Review of Sony Micro Vault USB flash drive - 128 MB by
patwanet
Advantages: High capacity, Auto-sync software
Disadvantages: High initial cost
...The sony micro vault is a lightweight and practical solution to the hassle of transferring files one from one location to another.
It's light weight and small size mean that it can easily fit into a trouser pocket or laptop bag. The USB 2.0 interface means that it will be compatible with nearly all pc's purchased within the last 6-7 years, removing the hassle of burning CD's or DVD's only to find that the destination computer's drive does not support their speed or format. USB 2.0 means that files will transfer quickly and easily, with 5GB taking just a couple of minutes.
The Micro Vault also has auto-sync software, allowing you to sync files on your computer and usb drive at the click of a mouse. No need to fiddle around with copy and paste. You can also store multiple versions of a document or other file at different stages...

SanDisk do it? Yes it San... er... Can!
Review of SanDisk Cruzer Mini - USB flash drive - 256 MB by
TheChocolateLady
Advantages: Small, easy to use, re-writable, reliable, extra caps, neck strap
Disadvantages: Might be too small, needs an extention cord for a desktop computer, still relatively expensive
...Have you ever needed to copy information from one computer to another when you didn't have a CD burner and the documents were too large for a floppy disk? One solution is to buy a CD or DVD burner drive. But those burners sometimes make errors, which you'll often discover only when its too late. Moreover, unless you're burning on a re-writeable disk, if you make a mistake you've wasted both the CD and the time it took to burn it. Plus, those CDs aren't quite as durable as we were led to believe. A scratch in the wrong place and your files will be unreadable. Finally, you don't always need 700mb (or more) of storage every time you want to take a bunch of files from one computer to another – so again, burning a couple of files onto a CD seems wasteful. But now there's a new solution - USB storage. My boss bought two different kinds...

1GB of space...That's 994 floppy disks!
Review of PQI 1GB USB 2.0 Cool Drive Traveling Disk by
Deru
Advantages: Fast USB 2.0 connection, accessories, Compact, Looks COOL
Disadvantages: Requires a driver for Win98, Need updated USB 2.0 driver to use advanced features or your computer crashes, not all computers have USB, gets hot.
...of the cap. The only difference is the capacity, labelled on the drive itself and the amount each of these can store. I think it's quite amazing how they can make a 1GB stick the same size as a 128MB and these particular ones are really quite small. These flash disks used to be a bit bigger than this but have since getting smaller as the technology advances.
IN THE BOX
It comes with a blue strap, which you can attach to the drive if you want, a USB 2.0 extension lead, which is very handy to have. Especially for those who only have USB ports on the back of the computer. It comes with the driver CD containing a more comprehensive user guide, a user guide on a sheet of paper, which is an 8cm CD which isn't even round. It's a circle with two flat sides. These CDs will not fit in slot CD drives like my Pioneer 106s (see review).

Victorinox Swissbit USB flash drive - 1 GB
Review of Swissbit SWISSMEMORY USB Victorinox retroALOX - USB flash drive - 1 GB by
Itstar77
Advantages: Durable and Well built. Nice Design.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have any Swiss Army Knife accessories.
...This is a USB flash drive produced by Victorinox, makers of the Swiss Army knife. The design is basically a USB Swiss Army knife without the knife and accessories. The outer case is made of durable aluminium rather than the more traditional red plastic. The design is nice and much better than a lot of other flash drives, however I think i prefer the more iconic red plastic version. The drive is about 6 cm long, just over 1 cm wide and just under 1 cm high.
The USB stick is clear plastic allowing you to see the circuit board inside, while the USB plug is gold coloured. The stick flips out of the case when in use and is held in place by a clip at the keyring end when being carried. A small green LED on the circuit board indicates activity when plugged into a USB port.
The drive is USB 2.0 compatible and I have used it on both PC...

Freecom 400GB external USB Hard drive
Review of Freecom Hard Drive Hard drive 400 GB by
ilaskey
Advantages: Fast, high capacity storage. Well built, looks good. 2 year warranty, No fan.
Disadvantages: No fan.
...Freecom before as they've always looked a bit cheap and nasty so this would be an interesting experience. The box did feel reassuringly heavy though, a good start.
###############
# What's in the Box?
###############
Apart from the drive, the box contained a small light external PSU, a USB lead and a CD with some backup software.
The case is made of extremly solid and heavy aluminium with a silver plastic front piece with a sexy blue '400GB' light (yes, you can have sexy lights. Really.) at the front just to prove how big it was. The finish is excellent and I have to say, if this is anything to go by, I'm converted to Freecom. Unlike the picture here, my unit has the aluminium finished in matt black which looks really nice on top of my black PC. It's also surprisingly compact - not that much bigger than a hard drive at 20x11.5x4 cms...

In Kingston town.. the place I long to USB
Review of Kingston DataTraveler 100 - USB flash drive - 4 GB by
1st2thebar
Advantages: 4 GB of data storage
Disadvantages: lacks innovation in design
...new heights - The 4.34 Bn dollar sales is the highest attained in its 20-year history -
-I welcome you to the Data Traveler 100 USB Flash Drive 4 GB (DT100)
- What is an USB? -
USB - Stands for Universal Serial Bus - This is a standard port for computer components to be connected using a single standardised interface socket. Every computer has these ports to improve plug-and-play capabilities by allowing devices to be connected and disconnected without restarting the computer, therefore saving time and losing any information through the rebooting process. USB ports are used by external devices such as digital camera's, printers, hubs, extra storage/CD/DVD drives etc.
- The portable USB Flash Drive 4GB -
The external portable drive is also known as a key or a stick as seen above in the title. The length is 2 inches long...

IOMEGA CD-RW 48x24x48 - Sleek,Black,Goes Whirrr!
Review of Iomega ZipCD 48x24x48 External CDRW Drive by
purpleduck
Advantages: Quality Build, No messing inside your PC, Bundled Software
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit pricey.
...Having only a 52xCD rom in my rather dull (but quite adequate) IBM workstation I was missing the ability to burn cd’s backing up data important data that I could with previous machines.
Not fancying taking the lid of, and removing fiddly blanking plates - scraping skin off my thumbs, I decided upon the external USB approach, since like most, the PC is equipped with a fast USB2.0 interface.
The Iomega CD-RW 48x24x48x USB 2.0 drive appeared to be a good choice, Iomega being a well trusted and reliable manufacturer. I paid around £60 , but you may find it cheaper if you shop around. I did come across lesser brands with a similar spec at lower prices, but I felt they would lack the quality.
Upon opening, I was presented with a very solid piece of kit in a jet black finish. The box also contained a suitable USB cable, a figure...
