...I am definately not a techno type of person but can certainly recommend this data cable. It is a useful, functional piece of equipment which allows you to link your Sony camcorder to any kind of PC. The main thing I would say is, that if you find yourself in need of this cable then the best thing to do is to shop around. There are bargains to be had and quite big differences in the prices charged for it. Amazon is quite a good place to look, as not only do you get an Amazon price but there are other offers to be found there for new cables too. When I was looking the best deal available was £7.99 (plus shipping). Or of course you could order from Amazon when you are buying other items and then be eligible for free shipping if you spend £15. ...I got my data cable to add ringtones, logos and unlock it. You know, I actually never did any of these. I got bored of it after about 10 minutes. You have to fid somewhere decent to get the rigtone/logos from, then discover you have to pay somehow alot of the time. Then there's the trying to connect it to your phone. Don't buy this without instructions! You need to remove the back of the phone, and insert it down the side of the SIM, and hope it's in right. the cable has 6 little pins that touch 6 metal bits , and they have to touch, usually with you pushing dow o the cable to keep them touching! In fact, you're probably better off just buying the ringtones out the back of Hello Magazine or something, it's so confusing. I must have spent a good couple of hours trying to find some program that works to unlock. They all failed...

...I gave my 2GB Kingston flash drive a few months ago and I think it's really great. I can use it for Microsoft Windows Vista ReadyBoost to speed up my PC. It's not too expensive and it has got a life-time warranty. It's really fast and every operating system contents a driver to use it. If you want to buy a somewhat cheap flash drive, and need a good quality buy that. Most of new PCs can boot from USB nowadays. Thanks to the USB 2.0 technology I can boot up my favourite live Linux distribution from it and I can save it back when I finished the work. You can use it for system rescue too but if you don't need these special "features" just use it to store and move data. :)...

The data cables allow you to unlock your phone with unlocking software to use different network's SIM cards in a phone locked to a particular service provider. Unlocking with a data cable is now not neccesary as there are websites that provide the unlocking codes for free, calculated from the phone's IMEI number and the network code. For those who have never seen one, flash drives are a modern alternative to the ancient technology of floppy disks. You can easily transfers file to and from it and it is reusable unlike storing stuff on CD. I trudged down to my local PC world and paid a little money for a 1.8 meter Belkin Pro Series USB Extension Cable and was very very happy with it when I got home. It is very well made with a nice thick rubber protective rapping over the wire inside so unless you cut it with a knife its not going to be damaged if you full on it a little or even a allot. It supports all standard USB ports with its well made male plug (the bit that goes into the computer) and on the other end of the cable has a nice thick female port (the bit that you will stick your USB device in) I have had no problems with this cable at all, it doesn't suffer from any lag and because it has a thick cable it doesn't snap or damage if you catch it with you feet while its laying...
