...Everyone seems to have a tiny pocket USB drive these days, however they suffer from limited capacity and can be quite slow (especially the older USB1 type). Belkin realise there's a good market to be tapped here... via their USB2 hard drive caddy. I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a piece of kit. Thanks to a £20 voucher from Powergen, I picked this drive bay up for £29.99 from PC world. In went an old fujitsu 10MB drive and now it's a fantastic portable (just) storage solution. The bay itself can accomodate both 3.5 and 5.25 inch drives to give you an idea of how big it is. Power is supplied via a normal 6A mains lead (supplied) which is identical to your computer power lead (so no problem replacing if you lose it). ...Bazooka EL350 EL Series 3.5 inch Coaxial EL350 I bought a pair of these car speakers last month so I thought I'd give you the low down on them. I paid £16 for them on eBay, which is a real bargain… not sure if they were as new as described but they work and are a real treat. Type: Full-Range Speakers, designed to achieve a deep enough bass extension to serve as a full range speaker without need for a subwoofer. It actually feels like there's a subwoofer underneath the car when I crank the bass up on my CD-Player. I'm not one to disturb other drivers; these speakers can achieve acceptable levels of driving volume for you to really get into your music without the sound waves departing the car and have pedestrians mutter "damn those chavs*!" ...I can honestly say that I really like this car. It's different from the rest in its range, if you can find anything comparable, but it's a bit like Marmite, in as much as you either love the look of the car or you hate it! As for the practicalities: the 3.5 engine (shared with the Nissan 350Z) is a beauty and is far more silky smooth and economical than advertised...if driven correctly. That is to say, if you want to drive it like the Nissan 350Z then it will perform like one (very quick off the mark for its size) and use fuel like one...but if you drive it sensibly, it will reward. I am getting around 26/29mpg in the winding country lanes where I live and about 32mpg on the motorway. You also need a good 35cm of headroom above the turntable to allow the dust-cover to open fully (although the turntable operates fine as long as there is enough room to get records onto the platter). The design of the turntable is distinctly retro, quite cool I think, and it feels very well made and solid. ...in the world to install, but far from the hardest too. You will need a little PC knowledge but not much. Basically what you do is open the pc up and fit the plate to the front of the PC (either to a 3.5 or 5.5 inch drive bay, adapter is included for larger drive bay), then you run a lead to the back plate which has a notch for the lead to go through (also included) then you plug the lead into your current USB port on the back of your PC and job done. (NB. Should you plug the lead to a USB 1.0 port on the back of the PC everything can only then run at up to USB 1.0 speed not USB 2.0 speed. For that you will need a current USB 2.0 port on the back of the PC). EASE OF USE Once installed this is the great part. ...This portbale USB drive has got to be one of the most realiable ones i have used so far. I dont think it costs too much and unless you're really into media and music, you may find that filling up 2GB of memory may not be easy with just word files. I'de happily recoomend this product to anyone as it is absolutelly suberb. It hasnt let me down yet. However if you're working with media such as music, videos, webpages, high quality images etc. then i suggest you a get a hold of a larger USB pen. I know from experience that all media workers will appreciate a few extra gigabytes of memory. You must remember however that the USB isnt bullet prrof so dont keep it in your back pocket and go ride on a rollercoaster. You may regret doing that..
