...Well last year i thought it was about time i brought myself a digital camera ,I had just read a review in which magazine who had reviewed the pentax optio s30 and highly rated it so i popped down to my local argos and purchased the pentax optio s30 it cost £209.99 at the time. when i got home i took it out of the box and was very inpressed in the sleak compact size it came complete with 2xaa batterys 1xwrist strap 1xusb computer cable and ACDsee software and easy to use manual The camera has: 3.2 million pixels 3xoptical zoom 2.6digital zoom 11mb internal memory SD/MMC memory card compatable built in flash Av output movie and sound capture So i had a read of the instructions which were clear and easy to follow and proceded to but the batterys in and switch on when switching on the camera makes a funny tone to indicate... ...I spent about 6 hours reading camera reviews in magazines and online before purchasing a Pentax Optio s50. I paid £160 in the summer of 2005, which was a bargain then and it's probably a lot cheaper now. The Good points: I would call this camera a professional compact, it is small enough to fit in your pocket but with enough professional touches to make it a tool rather than a toy. ...I do a lot of pub crawling and clubbing and i like to take photos of my nights out with my friends so i need to find a new camera that was small and light so it didnt pull my pants down when in my pocket. So my search began. I hit the camera counter at my place of work and started annoying our sales chaps. At one point i had 17 small digital cameras sitting in front me having a play around with them all. What was even better was the fact i could have a look at my test photos as the gents on the counter setup a Photo printer with in-built card reader for me so i could print them out. Out of those 17 i dwindled my choices down to 3 Pentax OptioS Canon Ixus 500 Sony T1 They all looked very inpressive. Nice and small and the picture quality form them all was good. ...I needed a digital camera for part of the NVQ work that I am doing at the moment and also thought it would be a good idea for my annual leave next week. There are so many digital cameras on the market that I was at a bit of a loss which to buy. My father has been a photographer of sorts for some time and has always recommended Pentax. The Pentax Optio immediately got my attention. It is tiny, about the size of a box of paracetamol in all dimensions. It has an aluminium body and is very classy to look at. I have been told that the case can be scratched very easily. I have had mine now for a month and I am not the most careful of people around and there is not a scratch in sight. ...First of all this camera is cheap for a digital camera never mind the quality and fucntions you get for your money. I bought it from Amazon for £100. It looks pretty good except it does have quite alot of advertising on it for example, it says Pentax Optio twice in quite big lettering but to be honest I don't notice it at all as it is sort of engraved but the camera in general does look cool. I often use the swivel screen and think it is great. For starters you can have the screen facing inwards when not in use so nothing can scratch the screen. I also use it for taking pictures above people's heads in which I can still see what picture I am taking. I used this alot at the Motorshow I recently visited. The picture quality is great. I have pictures on the computer and get some printed off at a shop and both are really clear... Read review

...I was given the Pentax Optio S10 as a birthday present 2 months ago to replace my film camera and quite honestly I was convinced I would hate it and thought it was far too small and would be fiddly and not take photos as good as my SLR. Well I have to say I've been made to eat my words, Firstly the quality of the pictures is totally amazing, very crisp and clear, even when printed at A4 size they don't lose any clarity. The display screen is much larger than on many small digital cameras and makes it easy to use. The controls are very easy to use, when you click onto the mode screen there is a clear symbol for each type of operation and when you click on it, it gives a brief description of what it does which saves from having to consult the manual all the time.
