Uniross Ultra Fast Charger Review - Best Charger
Review of Uniross - Battery charger - 14 hr - 4xAA/AAA, 2x9V - included batteries: 4 x AA type NiMH 1300 mAh by
carrmanor
Advantages: Very fast charge times, turns off automatically.
Disadvantages: None
...First point, this is a review for the Ultra Fast SPRINT charger which I think is slightly different but Ciao do not have page for that one.
The Ultra Fast Sprint charger by Uniross is the best. To start with it takes no longer than 2 hours to recharge batteries and alot of the time it does it in less. The other main advantage of this charger is that it stops charging automatically when they are fully charged so no more waiting around to turn it off and no more worries about damaging the batteries if you left the charger on by accident.
It costs £34.99 in Argos but I bought mine off eBay for £20 inc P&P. The reason this one is so expensive though is that it is supplied with 4 2300MaH AA batteries which in simple terms means that these batteries last longer than other rechargeable batteries with a lower MaH. 2300 is the highest you...

Tiny versatile charger
Review of Uniross - Battery charger - 14 hr - 4xAA/AAA, 2x9V - included batteries: 4 x AA type NiMH 1300 mAh by
querth
Advantages: Tiny, 12v Car Adaptor Included
Disadvantages: Battery compartment door falls off easily
...Uniross "Ultra Fast Charger"
This charger takes up to 4 AA or AAA (slightly smaller than AA) sized batteries; charging either two or four at a time. It is capable of charging 4 batteries, either Ni-Cd's or Ni-MH type, in around 2 hours and is supplied with a mains power and a 12v cigarette lighter adaptor.
4 AA Ni-MH 1300 mAH batteries are included with the charger, though its worth investing in some 1800 mAH or 2000 mAH ones for digital camera use as they last a bit longer. This charger is around the £25 mark, but you should be able to get it for less if you shop around. Good value for such a versatile device.
Its size (about the same as two packs of cards), weight (less than the batteries you put in it) and provision of a car charger makes it ideal to slip into a digital camera bag to recharge batteries on the move...

Hama Delta Ni/Cd Ni-MH Fast Charger
Review of Hama Delta 2/4 Microprocessor Controlled Ultra-Fast Ni-MH/Ni/Cd Charger by
djdarkstorm
Advantages: Very fast for charging high Mah batteries
Disadvantages: only charges AA and AAA batteries
...Well Ive had this charger now for around two months.
I bought it online as with having a young daughter the need for recharging batteries is a weekly task and my old charger took over 10 hours to charge a set of 4 AA's.
This charger is absolutely brilliant it came with 4 high power 2500 Mah Ni-MH AA batteries and charges these from flat in around two hours I also use it a lot for low spec Ni/Cd 700Mah AA batteries and it charges these fine as well as my AAA 250Mah batteries in under an hour. So to sum up this little charger which comes with a mains adapter as well as an adapter to use your car cigarette socket I would rate it as excellent and definitely recommend to my friends or anyone after a compact high quality charger for a low price.
The only downfall ive found is that I also need to charge larger size C and D batteries...

Bloody charging brilliant!
Review of Kensington USB Car Phone Charger by
somebodyrandom
Advantages: Simply amazing
Disadvantages: None what so ever!
...if the battery goes back up to two bars,
3. Turn the phone off completely; you can't be bothered chatting to your girl friend or the important customer from Japan,
4. Invest in a 'Kensington USB Car Phone Charger,' that can be used to charge up the phone in either the car or office.
Option 1 is a no no. Charging up a battery, especially the modern lithium ion batteries, for short periods of time does more damage then good. You see, the battery has a 'memory,' and will remember how much power was in it before it was recharged. It will then count this as being empty, so the capacity of the battery decreases significantly. This happens slowly though, so doing it on a one off occasion is fine. (The memory can be compared to a plastic carrier bag, scrunch it up and it will uncrumple itself a bit, but not enough to return to its original shape...

USB is for me
Review of Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub - hub - 4 ports by
sit2020
Advantages: Have plenty of USB ports at any time
Disadvantages: Can be a bit of a pain when it comes to the power supply.
...the ports so much easier.
Which model did I choose?
I chose the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub; this was based on the price, availability and looks. The price and availability of the USB hub were my main purchasing considerations.
What did I get?
I got the main USB hub, a connection cable (one end plugs into the hub and the other plugs into a USB port on the computer), a transformer (this supplies power to the hub via a cable that plugs into the hub, more about this later in the review) and very limited instructions. This all gave me change from £25.
What does it look like?
The hub itself is squircle shaped (a cross between a square and a circle) on one end are four USB ports, at one side is a socket for connecting the USB lead that connects the hub to the computer and another socket for the power supply that comes from...

Very nearly cutting edge technology
Review of Solio Portable Solar Charger - Battery charger by
rjw01
Advantages: It looks cool!
Disadvantages: You need an awful lot of sun!
...be annoying if it didn't come supplied.
When you purchase the product then solio give a code for an extra adapter (i.e. for a Motorola phone) to be posted to you free of charge. There is a long list (phones, iPods, USB - see website for all options) and that is nice of them. I am not sure if this offer is still available, maybe ask if you order.
The supplied mains adapter is useful for giving the power a boost basically turning the charger into an extra battery pack.
4 different colours available (white, grey, black, pink).
Negatives
--------------
Having left the charger in the sun (UK sun) for 6+ hours, the charge it has acquired is minimal, and gave my iPod about 20 minutes of extra play. It does recommend that if you re-charge your item (in my case iPod) before it is completely drained of power.
No use on a cloudy day...

The Energizer Battery Charger
Review of Energizer CHDCWB-4 Battery Charger by
micksheff
Advantages: Good value for money
Disadvantages: Takes a long time to charge batteries
...I had been intending to purchase a battery charger for quite a while. In fact I had even dropped hints to certain family members around Christmas time, but to no avail. I was recently reminded of this missing piece of equipment in my life when I rediscovered the PC lead to my digital camera. Remembering that a pair of standard batteries lasted for only about 30 photos in this camera I decided that it was certainly time to invest in a battery charger and some rechargeable batteries.
I purchased an Energizer CHDCW8 – 4 battery charger from Argos for just £9.99. This decision was based on several factors, the most important of which was the price and what I considered to be the best value for money. The design also played a part in my decision process, but in the end it was the price/value that were the strongest influencing factors...

To USB, or not to USB?
Review of Dane-Elec zMate Pen USB2.0 Nacre - USB flash drive - 256 MB by
DaC_87
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, transportable.
Disadvantages: A little on the chunky side, space an issue
...as having a low power consumption; no figures are given, but this is particularly useful if you're working with it on a non-mains-connected laptop.
One snag is the thickness of the stick, which, at around 0.9 cm, means it cannot be put into two adjacent USB ports when the other is in use with something equally thick. This causes a problem on our old computer with a mouse in one of the two sole ports.
Security.
A password-protect option is provided, which would prevent anyone who stole the device accessing potentially private data. However, as yet, I am yet to use this facility (and, hence, am unable to comment on its functionality. As previously mentioned, there is a keyring-attachment facility, and some models will come with a neck-strap which offers yet another protection against loss, though mine didn't. Check before you buy! The Dane...

TECH TALK on the GEMPLUS USB-SL
Review of Gemplus GemPC USB-SL by
skrg28
Advantages: Size, Weight
Disadvantages: None
...TECH TALK on the GEMPLUS USB-SL Card Reader
INFO
I have been using a Gemplus USB-SL card reader for a while now. I use it at work and it was a natural upgrade from the old serial 410 version.
For those who may not know what the USB-SL is, it's an EMV card reader. So in short it is able to read a chip card like a visa and use it in conjunction with an application to process the card. A couple of possible uses would be for internet shopping or as a basic payment system in a shop.
THE DEVICE
The USB-SL is way better than the older 410. For starters its USB based to in the main it's a plug and play device where as the 410 was a serial device. The use of USB speeds up the device ten fold. The second gain on the USB-SL is its size. It's easily half the size of the old 410.
The USB-SL is made from durable plastic and is the size...
