Excellent USB Headphones with microphone

Advantages: Comfortable, good quality sound, excellent microphone
Disadvantages: Bit bulky for my laptop bag

...After starting to experiment with Voice over IP (VoIP) on the PC, I decided I needed a headset with microphone to make the experience more pleasant for me and the person on the other end of an internet based call. A load of searching for something suitable popped up the Sennheiser PC 155 USB amongst quite a few others. At the most expensive available, it was going to take a lot of convincing to get me to part with some cash for these! Past experiences with Sennheiser had been good, and I knew they made quality stuff, so I decided that these were good contenders. I was after USB attached ones as it is generally easier to just plug and play a USB connector than fiddle with a headphone socket and a microphone jack. So I ordered these. Advantages: Decent sound
Disadvantages: No analog connections and poor recording quality

...The artwork on the box of the product shows a man talking animatedly into the headset connected via his laptop, nothing strange as of yet, apart from the fact that he is sitting in the middle of the park, looking needless to say a complete fool?. Jokes aside, the Logitech30 is conventional in appearance, with closed-cup earpads and a microphone connected to a flexible cable. It sports a USB connection which makes it very easy to connect to your PC or Mac. However, there are no analog connections, which means that you are unable to use the headset with a sound card. Atleast the sound quality is good. It doesn't have the detail of the higher and more impressive models such as the Sennheiser PC155 USB but this is masked to an extent by the high level of volume which it produces. The recording quality is very disappointing...

...After standing on my old head set and breaking the microphone I was forced to go out and buy a new Microphone or new headset. Whilst browsing my local computer store I found this pretty and cheap Logitech headset. At less than 30 pounds and connecting using USB I thought I would give it a go. The head set is a very nice and stylish design with a robust feel and feels very good round your head. With soft cushion padding around the headphones there is an aesthetic feel to the design making it very comfortable to wear. With an acceptably long USB cable it manages to reach to the back of my desk and down to the back of my computer. The main control centre and amplifier for the head set is on the cable about half a foot away from the USB jack, meaning that the head set is a lot lighter than other USB headsets and a lot more comfortable...

Sennheiser PC 120 Headset

Advantages: Great crisp sound, excellent fit
Disadvantages: Lack of volume control with Xbox 360

...Having worked in call centres before I was quite disappointed to learn that Microsoft's official headset for the Xbox 360 was just like the one I was accustomed to, you know the one that pulls half your hair out when you take it off and makes you look like one of the chickens on that car insurance advert, therefore you can imagine my delight when the new Sennheiser PC 120 arrived at my door. The headset ( as you can see from the picture below) goes with the more modern bluetooth style that fits comfortably over and into your ear, you can also switch between your left and right ear depending which way feels more comfortable. When you first see the connections on the end of the headphones you think to yourself, "now where am I going to stick that on my 360's controller" due to the 2 x 3.5mm jacks (I will explain these later) on the end...

If I am using it, I have to set it to maximum length. if my 10-year-old nephew would use it for some PC games, he just pushes the headband inward and it adjusts itself at about half an inch. Microsoft XBOX 360 wireless headset

Advantages: Great looks, handy charge cable included
Disadvantages: Not great sound quality, no play and charge facility

...The microsoft xbox 360 wirless headset is very attractive and fits the ear very well - at least it fits mine anyway. The headset isnt particularly good at picking up quiet speech though, which is often a let down during games that require alot of detailed communication for tactics such as Gears Of War 2 or Call Of Duty WAW. The headset is priced at £34.99 RRP, which i think is quite reasonable for what you're getting. The headset comes with full instructions and a charge cable that plugs into the 360's USB point. It cannot be used in a play-and-charge situation which gets annoying so you have to leave it overnight to charge. It is mcuh less cumbersom that the various wired headsets on the market and has a good range using the 360's infra red technology system.
