ION ITT USB TURNTABLE
Review of ION ITT USB by
marshland
Advantages: The easy way to transfer vinyl to cd or mp3
Disadvantages: expensive
...If you have a stack of old vinyl records at home and are frequently quoted saying ' they don't make records like they used to' then the ION ITT USB turntable is the product that you need. Whilst a lot of the classic vinyl albums have been released on CD there are still many that are not available.
The turntable is made from sturdy plastic with clear easy to use controls.
The only assembly required is to put the head together and attach it to the turntable mount. Getting the balance correct is fundamental to record reproduction but the instructions are clear and the task is comparatively easy.
Software is included to load onto your computer and then connection is merely by means of a USB lead.
The turntable is capable of playing vinyl singles, EP's or LP's at sppeds of 33 or 45 prm.
Recording is simple. Play the vinyl...

USB Turntable - simple, effective and cool!
Review of ION ITT USB-05 by
tech-review
Advantages: Uncluttered, easy-to-use, good-sound
Disadvantages: Lack of information in instruction manual, fairly large space required
...of the turntable is constrained by the size of an LP. You also need a good 35cm of headroom above the turntable to allow the dust-cover to open fully (although the turntable operates fine as long as there is enough room to get records onto the platter).
The design of the turntable is distinctly retro, quite cool I think, and it feels very well made and solid.
You can either use the USB connection (a USB cable is included in the box) to connect the turntable to your computer, allowing software playthrough (you can listen to records using your computer speakers via your computer) and digital recording (to create MP3 files from your vinyl, etc), or you can invest in a phono cable in order to connect straight to a pair of speakers with an auxiliary input socket or a 3.5mm input lead. I'll explain this more clearly below:
If you have speakers...

A useful new toy
Review of ION ITT USB-05 by
grafter123
Advantages: Good price and value, easy to set up and use, has special features
Disadvantages: A bit bulky
...As Christmas is approaching Hubby's Christmas List has appeared as usual. Most women I know say they never know what to buy their Hubbies but I never have that problem. He loves music, reading, gadgets and technology and this year had just one main present in mind. Top of the list was a USB turntable so that he can condense his much loved music collection onto discs and our computer. A few years ago he wanted, and received, a Pioneer CD writer. This was one that was linked to his Stereo, however now, that he is much more computer literate, he wanted a piece of equipment that would enable him to utilise the computer for recording from vinyl.
Enter the Ion USB turntable.
Of course it is only the beginning of December but such Christmas presents need to be inspected, tested and tried 'just in case'. So here is what he has found up...

Review of Numark TTX USB Turntable by
scrabblite
Advantages: Loads of Features, very versatile, robust, reliable.
Disadvantages: BPM lacks accuracy. spindle too short
.... In the end of the day they just can't get used to not having to nudge the record to get it started.
I think Numark have taken turntable design into the 21st century with the TTX1's they are really trying to take DJ's to the next level. I am not good enough to appreciate everything the TTX1's have to offer but if you want to come up with new styles and sound and push the boundaries of what can be mixed together these are the tools you will need.
PS. Make sure you have a mixer with line in if you wan't to use all the features....

To USB, or not to USB?
Review of Dane-Elec zMate Pen USB2.0 Nacre - USB flash drive - 256 MB by
DaC_87
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, transportable.
Disadvantages: A little on the chunky side, space an issue
...A USB pen stick is as much a necessity these days as a pen. With more and more laptops not posessing floppy disk drives, USB mass storage has become the only way to transport documents, music and pictures around, safely quickly and easily. No need to worry any more about filling up the paltry 1.44mb on a floppy disk. The standard flash drive capacity is anything from 128mb to 1gb.
As I was going to be off to uni at the end of the month, I thought now was the time to be investing in one of these, as I would no longer have the opportunity to pinch my parents'. However, with a whole host of different pen drives, boasting similar features, but in many different shapes, sizes and colours, it was a minefield to try and decide which one I wanted.
Fortunately, on a trip to America last month, this decision was made for me, as...

USB is for me
Review of Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub - hub - 4 ports by
sit2020
Advantages: Have plenty of USB ports at any time
Disadvantages: Can be a bit of a pain when it comes to the power supply.
...It seems like ages ago that I had a PC that did not have enough USB ports and the two that it did have were discreetly hidden around the back of the tower. At first this was not a problem as I hardly ever used the USB ports. As my computer grew so did the need to access these USB ports, this soon became an annoyance as I kept having to turn the tower around to access the ports and plug another device in, this also meant sacrificing whatever was in the port at that time.
I began thinking the only choice I would have would be to get a new PC that had four USB ports, two of which now seemed to be positioned on the front of the towers of the newer computers.
A friend suggested that I should look at getting myself a USB hub, as this would not only add to the amount of USB ports that are available to me, but would make accessing...

Victorinox Swissbit USB flash drive - 512 MB
Review of Swissbit SWISSMEMORY USB Victorinox retroALOX - USB flash drive - 512 MB by
Itstar77
Advantages: Durable and Well built. Nice Design.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have any Swiss Army Knife accessories
...This is a USB flash drive produced by Victorinox, makers of the Swiss Army knife. The design is basically a USB Swiss Army knife without the knife and accessories. The outer case is made of durable aluminium rather than the more traditional red plastic. The design is nice and much better than a lot of other flash drives, however I think i prefer the more iconic red plastic version.
The USB stick is clear plastic allowing you to see the circuit board inside, while the USB plug is gold coloured. The stick flips out of the case when in use and is held in place by a clip at the keyring end when being carried. A small green LED on the circuit board indicates activity when plugged into a USB port.
The drive is USB 2.0 compatible and I have used it on both PC and Apple Macs with no problems. The manufacturers claim that it will work...

USB Hub:- Reliable USB Connection
Review of Belkin USB Hub hub - 4 ports by
Brianglo
Advantages: Small,stlish,value for money
Disadvantages: Plasticy. But all it will do is sit on a shelve.
...Being a fan of new technology and testing it as part of my work role , I have accumulated several USB devices.
Getting fed up of having to climb round the back of PC every time I want to plug something in I went on an exbidition to PC World on the hunt for a solution.
At 29.95 I found the solution in a Belkin 4 port USB Hub.
Sylish design and a good brand name made this product the only real choice for me.
The product comes complete with a power brick,USB cable and a set of instructions. Adding this to your system couldnot be simpler.
Plug one lead into PC USB port, the other end into hub. Plug in your USB devices to the hub and errrr thats it. No drivers to install,no PC to take apart , no nothing.
In my case , some of my devices needed power to be supplied by the USB port. In these cases , the supplied power brick can...

OH THE JOY OF USB - USB/GAMEPORT
Review of Sitecom USB to Gameport Game input adapter by
penguin1052
Advantages: USE CURRENT CONTROLLER
Disadvantages: ANOTHER LEAD
...COMPATIBILITY
This unit is great if you have a game device and want to plug it into your PC. Best use is with a laptop as you tend to not get a game port (usually built on to a sound card on a desktop PC) on them. You do however get a USB port on most now and therefore this allows you to run any game controller that uses the standard 15-pin layout straight into the USB port.
However if you are looking to run MIDI audio through to your PC this unit will not do that. On a game port on a soundcard you can also run MIDI through it, this however does not allow you to do that. For that you would need to look at something such as the Creative Soundblaster Extigy.
Also you will need Windows 98SE or later as versions before this did not support USB, although patches are available of the internet.
SPEED
Well USB 1.0 will run at up...
