Vauxhall Zafira Elegance 1.8
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Elegance 1.8i by  007addict

Advantages: Roomy, easy to drive and fairly economical
Disadvantages: Horrible blind spot and electrically unreliable

...I have owned my Zafira (elegance 1.8) for coming up to 3 years. It is a V reg. and has been a lovely vehicle to drive, comfortable and easy to get passengers in and out. Children love it due to the height and added visibility for them. The 7 seats have been a godsend at times, but having to remove the boot cover bar each time and store it at home can be a pain in the proverbial. The boot space with 5 seats is very spacious, but minimal with 7. I do have a huge concern with the visibility from the windscreen ,on each side, due to the roof support blocking a significant amount at certain times, e.g turning out from a junction. I've only had one near miss (that was one to many for my liking) and the experience taught me to be even more vigilant when checking the coast is clear. This is a common complaint from others I know who... Read review

Vauxhall Zafira Comfort 1.8i
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Comfort 1.8i by  puppenay

Advantages: Easy steering, lovely action, everything to hand, nets and storage space good, versatile seating.
Disadvantages: Lack of storage space when all seats being used, rear lights keep blowing.

...We had to purchase a new vehicle very quickly as we only own one and our previous vehicle caught fire - we only had two free weeks use of our insurance company's car. The Zafira was an easy winner. It is very light to handle and the steering action is lovely. I have a family so versatility of space was a necessity. We have carried all sorts of sports equipment in the back - some large. We have used it for changing after sports events as well as changing babies nappies!! We have even carried long thin items of bathroom trim home, being able to poke the length through the back seat armrest whole, as it unfolds. We have transported a halfdrum sized barbeque and stand too, with the back seats down. Another advantage of the Zafira, for someone not very technically minded like me, is that the alterations to the seating/storage are very straight... Read review

Zafir NOT
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Life 1.8i 16v by  KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Spacious, Number of Safety Features.
Disadvantages: Not great value for money

...The Vauxhall Zafira is one of the most popular compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) on the market. Out of all its competitors it accounts for 40% of all 7 seater MPV Sales. *~*~*Which model am I reviewing?*~*~* I am reviewing the Vauxhall Zafira Life 1.8i 16v petrol model with 140bhp that we hired for 4 days. It is the latest model from Vauxhall after recently being revamped last year, it is a 5 door model with a seating capacity for 7 passengers. The Zafira does come in different engine sizes as you would expect the smallest being a 1.6i and the largest being a 2.0i Turbo with 240bhp. *~*~*Styling*~*~* The New redesigned Zafira is a lot sleeker and sexier than the previous model however it is still not that easy on the eye. Less aggressive styling makes it a bit more family car orientated than people carrier, also... Read review

2004 Corsa C SRi 1.8 16v
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.8i 16v by  MJRacer

Advantages: Fun, Pratical, Stylish....
Disadvantages: None to be honest!

...After someone crashing into the back of my Mitsubishi Galant V6 & writing it off, I was looking for a replacement car. I already own a 52 reg Corsa C SXi 1.2 16v but wanted similar power to the Galant, thats when I saw the 1.8 SRi & fell in love with it instantly. I bought a SRi 2004 1.8 in Ultra Blue for £6995 with 15k on the clock. First looks of the SRi: Looks very sporty but very under rated in my opinion & looks can be deceiving when it comes to the performance of this car. Driving the SRi: The SRi is a great car to drive, you can drive as normal getting great mpg (35) & comfort all day long. But when you want the evil, fun side of the SRi............Simply put the foot down and the fun begins. The acceleration is unbelievable of this little car, mines is 7.5s 0-60mph, Top speed is 130+mph Driving at high speeds... Read review

passat 1.8t 20v love this car hate petrol prices
Review of VW Passat 1.8T SE 20V by  zyndol

Advantages: fast, big, good looking list goes on.
Disadvantages: fuel consumption, rear suspension, seats, light steering.

...Why did I sell this car! I bought a passat because I needed a bigger car. I have always been into volkswagons so I know alot about the engines e.t.c. I started out by looking at the tdi to be sensible but saw a 1.8 20v on ebay which I payed £2200 for. My first suprise was how quick the car was, I knew it was 1.8 turbo but its a big car (bigger than some parking spaces). The fist few days i was driving it i was like a loony, how could a car this big go this fast. I then proceeded to take all my freinds out in it who were equally amazed. This car would give my golf gti a run for its money. After zooming the car around i realised i was going to the petrol station a hell of a lot, but i didn't mind cos i felt great when i was driving. You know the feeling you get when you are driving around in a nice car you are proud of... Read review

A superb family car from Vauxhall
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Design 1.8 16V by  scabies

Advantages: Highly versatile yet not unwieldy with 7 seats in a smallish package
Disadvantages: luggage space when all seats are in use is small, can be affected by crosswinds

...belts though Driving/performance....... Lets get this straight, I enjoy driving a good car and I enjoy a bit of either fun or performance (I own a V12 Jag XJS for performance and a Land Rover ex military for fun!) but driving the Zafira is not the yawn inducing experience that I imagined. The 1.8 16V engine has 125BHP and is actually quite quick, 0-60 is faster than the old Golf GTi believe it or not. Handling is safe and secure but not wildly entertaining and there is a traction control system and ABS to sort you out if you get a bit wild. So it goes well, the seating position is nice and high up, which I like and the handling is predictable but pretty good. All of the controls are nice and easy to hand and the car is actually lovely to drive. Only one niggle and that is that it is a bit low geared for motorways, ie at 80 mph... Read review

Passat 1.8t 20v Sport.
Review of VW Passat 1.8T 20V Sport by  spankyham

Advantages: Big boot, Good motorway cruise missile, suprised in how cheap parts are.
Disadvantages: A bit thirsty, ride quality a bit soft. keep grouding on speed humps.

...is quite good on the motorway, very quiet, smooth but it gets a bit wishy washy on the back roads. I do find that on the sport models the ride hight is low and i am forever scraping over speed humps and kerbs causing a bit of damage to the nappy under the engine which does come loose if you don't keep an eye on it, and is a part of the cars aerodynamics. So make sure it's got one before you buy. Also check the suspension bushes on high mileage one's this can be expensive and there is a lot of them on the passat. The engine is a 1.8, 20 valve, Turbo charged unit which develops around 150bhp, its the same engine the Audi TT which runs at 225bhp. So the engine isn't under to much stress. The power is good, but i do find that it needs a bit of reving to get it goin of the line. I... Read review

Ford Focus Edge 1.8 16v Zetec 3 Door.
Review of Ford Focus Edge 1.8i 16V Zetec by  jay.b

Advantages: Sporty, comfortable, looks good.
Disadvantages: None.

...days although i've noticed this does use more petrol. The build quality is superb and i've had no problems with reliability at all. Fuel consumption is good for a 1.8 engine and the insurance group is quite low for such a sporty car. I would certainly recommend this car to potential buyers. It's one of the best of it's type.... Peugeot 306 1.8i XS 16v (1998 - Phase 2)
Review of Peugeot 306 1.8 by  motion-blur

Advantages: Cheap to insure, Quick, Sporty, Fun to drive, Good Handling
Disadvantages: Expensive parts, Uses quite a lot of fuel

...Ive had this car for 2 weeks now, and so far it's been great. It cost me £2700 from a small garage with full service history, only 51k miles on the clock, 3 months tax and 8 months MOT. Here's some basic info about my car... --S Reg (registered 31/12/1998)-- --1.8i 16v petrol engine (112bhp)-- --Metallic Gold (aka Blaze Yellow) paint-- --3 Door Hatchback-- --Tape player, radio, and 6 cd changer-- --Electric windows, A/C, Remote Central locking + much more-- So far i havent experienced any problems with the car. Although the drivers electric window is slighty jerky. I think the car is great for a number of reasons. It looks very sporty (looks more like the XSi's and GTi's, not the more basic models). It came with 14" alloy wheels, but i changed these for some 17" MVK 10 alloys (costing £575). The car is in a very low... Read review

fiat bravo HLX 1.8 16v
Review of Fiat Bravo 1.8 by  bludclot

Advantages: Good looks, lots of space, fast & fun to drive
Disadvantages: poor dealer network

...but feels faster. Fuel consumption is claimed to be 34mpg but it`s always less at around 30mpg. The standard alarm and immobiliser gives the HLX group 8 insurance, a very low rating for a 1.8 16v. Now that it has been replaced by the fiat stillo second hand prices are at bargin levels with 1996 N reg cars at around £2500 rising to around £7000 for a 2001 Y reg. Fiat dealers can be unhelpfull if problems arise so find a good garage and all should be plane sailing. As a cheap second hand buy i cant give it enough praise there simply is`nt a car that can match it for value for money.... Read review
