...Expecting many great things from vax as i had owned and cherished a vax previous to owning this one, i was led to be a little bit disappointed to be honest as it didn't quite live up to my expections. First of all it didn't hold much water, great i thought it wont be as heavey as my old one when i try to maunover it around my living room but after the third trip to the sink with both of the containers to empty and refill i was getting annoyed. Secondly i didnt expect the water to leak as much as it did when i left the vax standing in one place it soaked my carpet however fast i tried to empty and refill the containers. However failing the two things mentioned above it does do its job and is great at removing stains from your carpet but to be frank i wouldn't consider buying one of these again. ...I bought this cleaner last week - I decided to have it delivered from Argos and was pleasantly surprised to find they were including them in their half price sale - £59 instead of £120! I have had some work done indoors and my carpets were absolutely filthy with all the workman walking backwards and forwards so my options were new carpet (too expensive), hand scrubbing (too exhausting) or to buy a carpet cleaner. The latter won!! I had the large 2 in 1 VAX some time ago and, although it did the job well, it was too pernickity to put together and I couldn't be bothered with it in the end. ...I bought A Vax Rapide Cleaner In December last year! I paid £160 for it, And also bought a pack of 3 bottles of the conditioner for around £15.. I bought this cleaner as I have a light coloured carpet and I can't stand to see dirty marks on it. Once I unpacked the Vax it was quite easy to put together.. Now for the cleaning test...Filled the tank up with water and conditioner and away we go. At first I didnt see any change to be honest, Just that the carpet was just a slightly darker, Well it would be, it was wet after all. I had a few stains in mind, And moved straight to the slight tea stain by the sofa....And yes after going over the stain 15 or so times it did fade away! (But would it have not done the same if I had just knelt down and scrub it with a cloth?) Ok Next was the hall way! Now this area is the entrance to the house... Read review

...product have not worked I feel maybe this one is my friend's fault for leaving the stain and not the shampooer's fault for not being able to get it out. A 5 minute application of vanish oxy action (which didn't seem to do much to the stain to be fair - it definitely wasn't vanishing before my eyes!) coimbined with the VAX upholstery nozzle alone got a 3 day old red wine stain completely out - I think that is adequate testament to how good this machine can be. The upholstery attachment is disappointing, I have been left considering a steam cleaning unit for my cream sofas as the upholstery nozzle doesn't have the same deep cleaning system as the carpet, and I've been left with some greasy marks even after two (albeit breif) shampoos. Having to refill the warm water tank frequently is a bit of a nuisance - but that's where I get confused... Read review

...The main reason i bought this vax rapide was because i have a young child and carpets and upholstery in lighter colours,i know they don't mix well but i wouldn't swap either. I'd heard very good reports from friends about both brands, most people said that the carpets 'came up as new' so I decided to take the plunge and buy the middle of the range model from Vax. ...I got people into shampoo my living room carpet. I paid £35 for this. After it was done I noticed that there were still a few stains. I was not happy about this. Then I noticed inthe newspaper T.J. Hughes advertising this Vax Rapid Spring shampooer. I visited the shop and bought this at £49. I thought that at least if it was not very good, then I was not wasting much money. As it turned out it is very good. I have used this in my kitchen where you intend to get a lot more stains as you are cooking in there.It was brilliant. I then had a party and lo and behold somebody spilled wine and other alcohol. I again got out the vax and shampooed this carpet. Again ,brilliant. I now have had more than my monies worth and would not pay somebody ever again to do this job as I can do this over and over again all for the price of £49... Read review
