...I wanted to write a positive op for this product I truly did, and even though most of what follows talks about the good points of this modem and Creative. There was just a few too many niggles with this modem that has dented my appreciation of Creative. (Sorry Creative!) Onto the op! I picked up this modem from Dabs.com for slightly high price of £34 + VAT + P&P about a week ago and sadly enough I’m sending it back! I was in the middle of building 3 computers at once and needed an internal PCI modem so I ran to a well-known company and their modem! I picked this modem mainly on the merits of it being Creative and because its got the new V.92 standard! ...From the well known Creative (SoundBlaster) stables comes this internal V90 PCI 56K modem. Complete with cable, drivers and some usefull software - Mediaring talk, Quicklink Message Centre and Bitware fax/communications. It only has a line-in socket on the back so you cannot 'daisy-chain' your telephone from this modem. I found the card easy to fit and configure and was up and running in less than 10 minutes - just fit the moden into your case and boot-up, Windows discovered it had new hardware installed and then asked for the location of the drivers, I pointed it at the correct directory on the CD drive and that was it! It connected first and every consequent time at a minimum of 48K and once at 50.3K Good product well worth considering for home use.... Read review

(Bad Tom) The Microlink 56k Fun Modem External is a great little modem. And “little” is understated, when you open the box you’ll think there is parts missing or something. Because the tiny, fluorescent coloured, little box you have in your hands is about the same size as a pack of cards! (Its actually 40x90x113mm) Capable of v.92 and v.90 (basically all these mean is that you will get a quicker connection “sometimes” if you have these. 90 and 92 are just the index standard numbers) and a load of others I’ve even heard of (must be good). ...that still use DOS for faxing etc. It has a warranty of one year. I didn't receive a manual with it as it was already built in but there's quite a lot of info on the net about this modem.
