...I didn't even realise they still sold Shake n' Vac in the shops, until I noticed my boyfriend using the product at his, when vacuuming the house. I also noticed the rooms smelt more fragrant and fresher. You may remember the advert which was remembered for the iconic dancing woman shown between 1979 and 1989. The advert featured Jenny Logan dancing around a living room in high heels shaking the powder onto the carpet and hovering it up whilst singing a musical jingle. The main lyric is "do the shake n' vac, and put the freshness back". In 2000 the advert polled 18th place in the Channel 4, The 100 greatest TV adverts programme. ...I purley stumbeled across this arcaic product totally by accident whilst looking for my regular odour neutaraliser in sainsburys! WHAT IS IT? If you don't know what shake n vac is where have you been for the last 27 years in a cave with your eyes shut & your fingers in your ears??? Basically it is a carpet freshener that works on the principle that odours get trapped in carpets so using this will banish odours such as Tobacco pet & cooking smells. it comes in a very distinctive green bottle with a dark green lid. this product is in a powder form that you sprinkle over your carpet, leave for several minuates then vacuum it up. there were 2 smell variants in sainsburys vanilla & magnolia or citruss blossom & costs around 79p for a drum of the powder. ...The best range of vacuum cleaners ever made has got to be the Aqua Vac range. We've had loads of different hoovers over the years ranging from the little dust busters & dirt devils right up to stuff like the Dyson and the Vax, but I have never had one like the Aqua vac. I have had the Aqua vac for about 9 years now and it's still just as powerful and useful as when we first brought it. If you've read about the Vax that we use these days, you already will have a good idea of the type of hoover the Aqua vac is. The only real difference is the motor size, the Aqua Vac has only a 1000 watt motor, but you wouldn't think it, the power is amazing. When the wife got her new Vax a couple of years ago, I got to have the Aqua Vac for the shed, caravan and so on. I think the upgrade was just for a change really as the only thing wrong... ...Grass cutting time of year again... I only have a small garden, and although I'm not much of a gardener I like to keep it tidy. I've had a Flymo hover mower for about four years, but it was one that didn't collect the grass, and there was something wrong with it, it had become very noisy. For these reasons I decided to look for a new mower - one that would collect the grass, but one that wasn't too expensive. My garden is a bit of an odd shape, so I'd liked using a hover mower in the past - much more easy to go around all the angles I'd found. I'd made my mind up that I wanted a hover mower this time too. ...I had my niece to stay the other night and as she's laid on the carpet in front of the TV she says "Oooh Auntie Anne your carpet smells all fruity" so I guess the shake 'n' vac does work then, because before it used to smell (albeit very slightly) of dog! So what is shake 'n' vac? Well I'm sure most of you know because you've either used it or you've seen the ads where the woman dances round the room shaking it all over and then vacuuming it up all the times singing that annoying "do the shake and vac and put the freshness back" song! So, shake 'n' vac is a white powder it comes in various scents but my favourite is the Citrus blossom. It comes in a tall green plastic tub with a small tab top, that when you flip opens to reveal 2 holes through which you sprinkle the powder. ...Having pets and children, I generally prefer wooden, laminate, tile or other hard surface flooring in order to keep the house clean. We do however have carpet in the lounge, and it is rather nice to have especially on a cold day, and on the stairs, to help prevent slips. While I do vacuum daily, and shampoo every so often, every now and again an extra bit of freshening is nice to have. While ordinary bicarbonate of soda will generally any odours actually present, it is not a super cheap alternative at supermarket prices, and Glade’s Shake n Vac does provide an easy alternative with the added bonus of a nice scent. Coming in a few different scents, the powder comes in a tall 400 gram capacity cylindrical. imply pop open one side of the lid, and gently shake out a fine dusting onto your carpets.
