The Sony Vaio N505x
Advantages: Light, looks great, and it's cheap
Disadvantages: Outdated, low specs, poor battery performance.
...Laptops are in high demand by students, professionals and home users. The specifications available today are truly amazing, but they can carry a high price tag.
The Sony Vaio PCG-N505X is a stylish compact laptop launched in 1998. It weighs a mere 1.2 kg, with a 10.4" TFT screen.
<<<<So how does it look?>>>>
With dimensions of 25.9 cm x 20.8 cm x 2.2 cm the laptop looks sublime.
The laptop casing is silver with a blue battery department at the back of the laptop (where the lid folds).
There are several slots on the left hand side of the device, which include; a memory slot, AC adapter, USB (just the one port), microphone and headphones. The other side of the laptop comprises of the: Power switch (which is a slide button), a reset button - which you press in and finally there is a slot to plug in your external...

Sony Vaio N505X - Pleasantly Surprised!
Advantages: Ultra-portable, Magnesium alloy casing, Runs XP no problem!, cost just £90!
Disadvantages: Battery life is about 1 hour, Low spec by today's standards
...I'm a big fan of electrical gadgets and was browsing ebay when I came across a Sony Vaio N505X Ultra-Portable notebook going cheap - I paid just £90 for mine which was in pristine condition and included the official Vaio external CD-Rom drive, external floppy drive, port replicator, power supply, upgraded to 128MB of ram and upgraded 30GB hard drive. I already have a perfectly adequate desktop computer but thought it would be nice to make more use of my wireless router.
I personally think that the majority of laptops are rather bulky, the N505X, however, is one of the smallest laptops I have ever seen - its only 22mm thick and weighs around 1Kg! This product first hit the shelves about 8 years ago and even now in 2007 it doesn't look all that dated due to its size and clever styling with the large Vaio logo embossed on the lid...

The PSR-505 is in My Bad e-Books.
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: countless - read the review
...There was a time when Sony was one of the most trusted and successful electrical brands on the planet. But it seems that with this product they have let themselves down considerably.
What is it?
The purpose of this device is to provide you with e-books that you can read on the go, and from the 6 inch screen. But i'm afraid i'm going to have to throw the book at Sony (sorry bad pun). This product is in fact completely pointless - why spend the best part of £200 on an electronic device that is harder to read than a real book?
Is it Worth my Dosh?
Simply put - no.
To add to the fact that it is hard to read, it also has constant faults - such as flickering black screens between turning pages. The PRS-505 is simply a high maintenance, high-price, low value product that has no unique...

The baby Vaio
Advantages: Light and portable, looks the part, large internal hard drive
Disadvantages: No internal disc drive, flat keys on keyboard, very small screen, poor battery life, expensive
...Some people in this life are lucky and some aren?t and, unfortunately, I fall in to the latter category. I have never once won anything of any significance so I?m sure you can imagine my joy when I won a Sony VAIO in the last week of CIAO?s end of summer bonus programme. I had never had any previous experience of Sony VAIOs and after a quick internet search I discovered there were loads available ranging from a small notebook all the way through to an all singing, all dancing top of the range multimedia laptop.
The winners? email didn?t confirm what VAIO I had won and I had to wait and see what arrived. After a three week wait, and it was a long three weeks I can tell you, I got the package and eagerly ripped it open to see what was inside. The VAIO I had won was the VPCW11S1E notebook.
Having owned this VAIO for a few weeks...

Great Sounds from the Zoom 505II
Advantages: Compact, cheap as chips, huge editability, great sound
Disadvantages: Not for the professional gigging guitarist
...Its always good to review something cheap, but even better when you're reviewing a gift! As it happens, I'm cheating because although this was a Christmas gift from my wife, I did actually buy it myself!
This is the revised Zoom 505II guitar effects pedal. The major difference from the original Zoom 505 is that it starts you off with 36 effects patches instead of the original's 24.
Its a very small pedal, just 14x12 centimetres, but it packs a great punch. My version is the sleek silver one, but the design is the same, which ever colour you buy. The essence of the device is that it allowes the guitarist to utilise up to 36 patch effects, up to 9 variations being available for use at the same time, and then to edit those patches and save the variations you design. There are even sites on the internet where you can download...

Good Vaio for Money (Get it?!)
Advantages: Decent spec., nice ergonomic design and feel to it, nice size, good value for money
Disadvantages: Touch pad and buttons a bit too close, the fn keys slightly dodgy (see review)
...- Introduction -
Anyone who's seen my last laptop review, for my Toshiba Equium, will know that I had alot of problems with it, of different types. Eventually, just over a month ago, I gave up on it and agreed to let my dad have it at a decent price, since he seemed pretty sure he'd still be able to use it.
So I went back to looking at what was on the market, laptop wise and when I spotted that you could get a Sony Vaio for under £400, I was quite tempted. Having read through the laptops specification and knowing that Vaios in general are sturdy, well built laptops of a decent quality and having always liked Sony branded items (I know, its bad to be tempted by name alone but its not like I was spending hundreds more just for the name, at this price), I ended up deciding to go for it, getting one for £399 at a local Comet store...

My Impression of the D505
Advantages: This computer is fast, looks good and it is quite thin.
Disadvantages: Could be a little bit lighter.
...My experience
I bought the Dell latitude D505 at a very good price. People say Dells are too expensive but they are wrong, they cost just as much as any other computer. My family has always had Dells and they are excellent computers. Right from the beginning I have been very pleased. I have used it for a while now and it has never let me down.
The keys on the keyboard are very well situated, it is very clear where all of the keys that you don?t use very often. The whole front surface is very well designed; it does look very nice and attractive. I think Dell computers are one of the best on the design point of view and should always be considered one of the first makes you should look at.
The speed is very impressive, it takes about 5 seconds to get from the login on page to the icons, it is also very good...

My Sony VAIO
Advantages: Quality Looking, Very Stylish, Great Speed!
Disadvantages: -
...Product: 15.4" screen Laptop
Make: Sony, VAIO
Features: XP, Service pack 2
Price: Varied
This Sony VAIO Laptop is stylish, powerful, fast active, and easy to use, this laptop is exactly like the one I own. Mine is Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with service packed 2, it has a 15.4" WXGA (1280x800) X-black LCD flat screen, and runs on 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (533 MHz). Even though, it's Windows XP, Its Vista capable as well; some of them I've seen are though. I can always rely on the Sony make; to me it has always been a top brand. I love the Intel Celeron M Processor 390; the processing speed is 1.70 GHz, which is the ideal speed for me. The hard disk drive is 80GB, which is quite suitable for the size. The Intel Graphics feature Media Accelerator 900 and comes with 128MB max, the graphics are outstandingly great, this is...

VAIO BZ12VN
Advantages: pretty decent laptop
Disadvantages: quite expensive
...This Sony VAIO BZ12VN is another new laptop from sony. Its one of their full sized laptops rather than the smaller notebooks that they have been bringing out and seemingly concentrating no recently.
The installed ram on this laptop is a massive 4gb, meaning its not just fast, its extremely fast. Loading up and running even the most demanding programs seem a breeze.
Also above average is the amount of hard drive that this laptop has. It has a fantastic 320gb of storage space for all those media needs and data needs too.
This amount of space is well more than enough for me and should be enough for nearly everyone too as it is quite a spacious hard drive.
The laptop also has a quite nice 15.4 inch TFT screen, this is the average size for laptop screens, it might make the laptop a little bigger, and therefore less portable but it...

sony vaio AR88E
Advantages: massive screen
Disadvantages: large.
...This laptop is the Sony VAIO AR88E. The laptop is made mainly for gaming, watching movies on and various other entertainment needs whilst not compromising the ability to do serious work on these as well. One thing that is compromised though is the portability, entertainment laptops are made to keep at home and not really to carry about with you all the time, so whilst the specification may look good, don?t expect one of these to be very portable.
Its mainly black in colour however I like the design ho the screen top part comes over the bottom part of the laptop base slightly so that it gives a more cooler look to the laptop.
The installed ram on this laptop is great, it has a massive 2gb which is the main reason this laptop runs so fast, also its intel core 2 duo T7700 which is one of the newest processors makes this laptop run so...
