Robert Downey Jr & Val Kilmer were Excellent

Advantages: Original quirky & funny script with great characters
Disadvantages: A little slow to start

...The movie is about a petty thief who accidentally finds himself with a screen test in LA. When there he gets involved in a murder along with a gay private detective who is training him for his role and he runs into the girl who was his childhood sweetheart who also becomes entagled in the murder mystery. I was originally put off this movie as Robery Downey Jr was in it as I am not a fan of his (until now) and only rented it as Val Kilmer was in it and it was directed by Shane Black who did the Lethal Weapon movies which I love. But I have to admit that Robert Downey Jr was excellent in this movie and it really changed my opinion of him. Val Kilmer was excellent as always and really suits the extra weight he seems to be carrying these days. The movie was a little slow to start and I initally found the story abit confusing, but...

...If you are a novice boarder of have never ventured to Val Thorens then this is the review for you. I went for a week over new years this year. Best new years i have ever had. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Val Thorens is boasted as being the highest ski resort in Europe at 2300 m altitude and is also the summit of the 3 Vallées, the largest ski area in the world. I stayed at Le Portillo, located towards the top end of the village. It's smack bang in the middle of everything. Reasonablly priced as well. I had a kitchenette room which meant that i saved money by not eating out every day. Ski Passes ---------------- An adult half day pass for Val Thorens slopes costs 27 Euros with a full day costing 34 Euros. Make sure that you ask for insurance with these at an additional 2...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Ski Val D'Isere on a budget

Advantages: Extensive Ski-ing, great night life
Disadvantages: Can be Expensive if you don't watch out

...I may have set myself a bit of a task here, as Val D'Isere is one of the most expensive resorts in the French Alps, but having stayed there two years running, once in a chalet and once in an appartment, I shall attempt to share some hints of how to ski in one of the best resorts in the world and not come home bankrupt. At 1850 metres, and with the heighest lift being 3550 metres, Val D'Isere has a long ski-ing season lasting from November until May. With great snow making facilities you are pretty much snow sure when the rest of Europe is suffering as it was in January of this year when I last hit the slopes. Over in Tignes, reachable by bus or lift system from Val, there is even a glacier for Summer Ski-ing! There are 2 snowparks for you boarders out there, although I really noticed a drop in popularity of boarding this year...

Val Thorens all it cracked up to be?

Advantages: Large piste area.
Disadvantages: Limited beginner areas

...I've been skiing since i was 12, now 23, so a good 12 years of travelling europe trying out different ski resorts, from a drinkers point of view and a non drinkers point of view. I've no been to Val thornes 2 times, the last one being two years ago, This followed on from the pervious year. 2000 was the first time i've been to Val thornes, this was on a student break with my university ski club. So the holiday was started with a typical, 25 hour coach trip. ( I suggest flying out) Being a big fan of skiing i'd checked the snow everday for a good 2 months before i went. I the was a ton of it. This really made the holiday, not only could we ski in Val thorens, but could get over to the all of 3 valees. (Ski over if you dare, we got lost a good 3 or 4 times, panic starts to set in when its 5:15 and all the lifts are starting...

Val McDermid - An Author

Advantages: Hard back and paper back. Very good read.
Disadvantages: the need to ensure that the books in a series are read in chronological order.

She writes serials that involves these characters, and another about a lesbian journalist, Lindsay Gordon. (which I have not read.) Some people may already be familiar with Tony Hill, a pyhycologist who suffers from sexual dysfunction, as some of his stories have been dramatised and can be seen on ITV or DVD box sets. Ms Mcdermid is regually nominated and wins awards such as the Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger, Portico Prize for Fiction, Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year and was short listed for British Book Awards 2008. Review of Val McDermid

Val d'be there...

Advantages: Graet snow, lifts, nights!!!
Disadvantages: Noisy streets, queues at lifts, tourists, fire crackers let off by silly little, immature boys!!!

...I have been going to val d'Isere for ages, after Meribel. It has to be THE place to be! I go in the Easter Holidays when there is special soft power snow, spring snow and it is lovely. My family stay in a hotel called 'The Blizzard *****' It is wonderful. There are plenty of less expensive hotels with 1,2,3,4 and 5 stars. Apart from the skiing there are millions of kids lots of whom you usually get to know and know already. At night the streets are buzzing with wannabe IT girls and boys!!! Dick's bar is a popular spot and the pub is excellent for meeting blokes and friends for a chat. The chairlifts, pomma lifts and t-bars are in good working order and are modern comfortable(with cushions on the chairs and bubbles to close if it's too cold!!!) There are lots of shops and a games arcade for those little bros...

Review of Val d´Isère

Val d'Isere - By far my top ski resort!

Advantages: Great ski area, great snow dec-april, fantastic lively apres ski and nightlife, beuatifully kept, clean resort
Disadvantages: Busy slopes at peak season, expensive drinks!

...Now I guess my review of Val will be a little biased as I have just finished working a winter season there for 5 months (Dec-April) as a chalet girl. But in my defence, I think that 5 months experience of this resort means I can give fair assessment of the good/bad and pro's/cons! And during my time there my parents, sister and friends all came out to visit for a week's holiday and all had an amazing time. Where shall I start? First things first... Ski Area:- The E'space Killy ski area is one of the largest and most renowned ski area's in the whole of Europe. Generally known for its masses of piste and challenging runs, beginners (which my parents were) will still have plently to go at on the Solaise area, and there are also plently of greens and blues on the Olympic/Bellevarde area too.
