...what id expect of Ryan Reynolds. Its also a nice love story, you can see all the way through how they both feel about it but they just cant see it themselves. Its hilarious when the film shows you him in high school. Definately a must see movie if you like your chick flick comedy. ...Introduction - My friend Tim introduced to the film, he clearly had a misconception about what University (English version of College) would be like, turns out his false ideas all spawned from one film, Van Wilder: Part liaison. The film was released in 2002 as a comedy and was directed by Walt Beckers. The lead male role is played by Ryan Reynolds, an at the time fairly new actor who has since continued to play similar comedy based roles in films such as 'Just Friends'. With this in mind, I was surprised at how much people were raving about it after watching the film. He is the big man on campus, an intelligent, witty, good lucking and extremely popular playboy. He loves the school and organises various fundraisers for such good causes as saving the swim team. However his piece d'resistance is his ability to throw the best party's around. Enter Gwen, a highly ambitious journalist writing for her school paper. Her latest assignment is to write an article on Van, if she succeeds she can write the front pages on graduation day. ...Well what can I say Van Wilder is great, right up my street. This film is for anyone who liked the classic ‘Animal House’ and is soooo much better than the teenage comedy trash that Hollywood keeps pumping out. What happens when a son of a rich businessman stays as a student at college for seven years, and then suddenly gets cut off? What is Van Wilder to do, give up or use his social skills that have built up over the last seven years to make some money, have some fun, get the girl, graduate, have a life changing experience, and most importantly completely stitch up the posh arrogant rich kids. In this farcical comedy an element of the fourth wall has to be broken down to detach the story from the world of the screenplay and into reality. ...If university life was for me, the way it was for Van Wilder, I would never in a million years have dropped out (twice). In fact Van Wilder loves college so much that he's been there for a total of 7 years now. But who would? Van (Ryan Reynalds - Blade Trinity) is the most popular guy on campus, the guys want to be him and the girls want to... well I'm sure you can guess. The first scenes see a huge queue of people wanting to be selected as his personal assistant. You get the picture? This is the most recent National Lampoon movie, directed by Walt Becker. However, things start to change for Van when his dad pulls the plug on his funding. Hence a plotline of money making schemes from Van and his friends. He is the ultimate party animal, so what better way to earn money than throwing parties for others for a small fee... Read review

...My husband and I watch this film on a pretty regular basis as it is always guaranteed to make us laugh. 'Van Wilder: Party Liaison' is from the makers of National Lampoon. It's the hilarious story of a college student called Van Wilder [played by Ryan Reynolds] who seems intent upon remaning a student forever. He's been at Coolidge College for 7 years so far and why should anything change? He's having a whale of a time and is most definitely the big man on campus. Van even he has his own personal assistant, Taj [Kal Penn], to help organise his activities [none of which seem to involve going to class].
