...INTRODUCTION Myself and Ms Larsbaby have spent our vacation this summer in Canada, visiting both the east and west coasts on our travels. This is an account of our travels on the West coast, in the city of Vancouver, in the province of British Columbia. For those of you who like my restaurant reviews, I'll be taking a look at some of the places I mention in more detail in due course! As a topical aside, even though it wouldn't have affected us, I am very glad now that we booked through Trailfinders and flew with Air Canada rather than Zoom! Vancouver: Spectacular by Nature

Advantages: Pretty much perfection
Disadvantages: Rains alot!

Vancouver Island-A Wildlife watchers dream.

Advantages: Clean air, Beautiful scenery, very helpful and friendly people
Disadvantages: Not enough time to see and do everything

...the cheapest yet first class way to travel to Canada, flying on the stylish Airbus A330, which have lots of leg room, and your own personal TV screen in the headrest in front of you. For an extra £7 you can also choose your preferred seat. I left Manchester Airport on 6th June at 10.45am and arrived at the first stop which was Calgary around about 12.30 (Pacific Time) to drop off and pick up passengers before onward to Vancouver, in all the flight time is about 8 1/2 hours and I was able to watch 3-4 films I'd never seen before in that time. Vancouver Airport is a massive place and comprises two airports, one for internal and local flights and the other is the main International airport. West Coast Canada shows off it's Asian credentials

Advantages: Good food, good service, great prices, huge menu
Disadvantages: It's a 10 hour trip to get there

The sizeable portions filled both of us up, and the friendly service kept us happy. The bill of $25 seemed fair enough to me. Vancouver: the only habitable city

Advantages: scenery, city life, sports, culture, heaven

...I love Vancouver. It has all the amenities of a big North American city, but it is small enough to be friendly. It is multicultural and lively, with a superb waterfront. But that isn't what makes it special. Vancouver is special because of its location. It is set on the sea across the water fron Vancouver Island. Within easy reach are high, spectacular mountains, water sports, bears, orcas, grey whales, porpoises and dolphins, sea lions, fantastic skiing and native american culture. The Rockies are a long day's drive away, with other breathtaking scenery in between. It rains a lot here but the people who complain about that come from California. I found it much better than say, Manchester. If you run out of things to do (never !) then Seattle and an equally bewildering array of options is a busride away....

VANCOUVER ISLAND-Most beautiful place on earth

...I am a huge fan of the US, but even stronger is my love for Vancouver Island. I spent 2 weeks there at my friend in the Courtenay/Comox area in octobre 1995 and three more weeks in june 1996. During that time I saw a lot of this Island and its beauty, as well as the city of Vancouver itself. Well I start with the Courtenay/Comox area. In this area you can find anything. An airport (Canadian Air Force and Civil flights), an harbour (ferry to the mainland), shopping opportunities, night clubs, beautieful nature, Mt.Washington (skiing till from october to may possible), several golf courses and beaches. Most impressive was the area arount that little river in the woods, because of the wildwater area and some waterfalls. Then there is Coombs (a little to the south) with its shops. Harbourside Hotel in Vancouver

Advantages: 4 Star hotel in Downtown Vancouver
Disadvantages: Just a few extras to make the room better

...own suitcase. There were some comfortable armchairs and settees and a concierge, small shop and car rental on the opposite side to reception. Beyond some plants and screens was the Coal Harbour bar - so named as it looked onto the harbour and we enjoyed a meal watching seaplanes taking off and arriving. Bedroom Our bedroom was on the 7th floor and like other hotels in Canada you needed to use your key card to work the lift. It overlooked the street and opposite was another hotel and some shops and offices, the French window opened but there wasn't enough room for a chair, but we enjoyed looking around. The room was beautifully decorated, heat reflecting curtains and lovely gold and white pleated net curtains draped the windows, white embossed cotton duvets on the two Queen size beds and huge pillows, with a pretty gold wool...
