Harbourside Hotel in Vancouver

Advantages: 4 Star hotel in Downtown Vancouver
Disadvantages: Just a few extras to make the room better

...Located on the waterfront and within walking distance of the Cruise ships terminal, this 4 star hotel has 437 rooms and 7 suites and has a no smoking policy. It is part of the Marriott group. Arriving by coach after a fabulous two days on The Rocky Mountaineer train, we entered the busy Renaissance hotel lobby and spied one of our cases, linked with others and all padlocked together. The bell boy was surprised when we asked about our other two cases, but we discovered that they had already been taken to our room and were assured the other would go immediately. True to their word it was safely in the room a few moments later as check in was very quick and efficient, just a switch of our credit card for incidentals and a look at our passports. The lobby was on two levels, but there was a lift down for disabled or if you were moving your...

A decent hotel choice for downtown Vancouver

Advantages: Great location, good facilities, great deal
Disadvantages: You'll be lucky to get the same deal

...INTRODUCTION It was the first time Ms Larsbaby and myself had been to Vancouver, and without first hand experience of knowing where to stay, we had a look on the net and took this hotel booked for us by the excellent Trailfinders, which was one of their options. LOCATION The Century Plaza is pretty much was the heart of the shopping and eating area of downtown on Burrard Street and so is ideally placed for the tourist. This end of Burrard Street had several restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a Market Place supermarket which had lots of excellent foodstuffs as well as a café which serves nice paninis. Just a short walk to the north was Robson Street, which had lots of shops such as Gap & Banana Republic, and a lot of Asian restaurants. There was also an interesting looking hot dog stand very close by which...

Great Value 3-Star Hotel

Advantages: Highly recommended 3-star Dublin hotel handy for the city centre
Disadvantages: Not a lot!

...Bewley's Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, is arguably the best value 3-star Dublin hotel within spitting distance of the city centre. At a set price of a mere Euro109 per room per night (due to increase to Euro119 from 1st April 2008) Bewley's Ballsbridge is extremely good value for money. The maximum number of guests per room is two. This means that for just under Euro60 per person you get a good standard 3-star hotel room, with all the usual 3-star amenities like an ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, TV, hair dryer, in-room safe, etc. An added bonus at Bewleys is that you also get free internet access (broadband) in all rooms and in all public areas using their wireless internet LAN. Family rooms are also available that will comfortably sleep two adults and three kids. (Kids are free...

Fabulous Vancouver!

Advantages: Great city, great food, good value for money once you're there
Disadvantages: Expensive to get to and long flight there

...such as running water under the still rocks, and how the buildings are designed to blend in with and complement the natural elements. Dr Sun Yat-Sen himself is considered as the "Father of modern China" and led the 1911 revolution to depose the Qing dynasty. He became the first president of the Republic Of China in 1912. His connection with Vancouver is that he visited it 3 times to gain funds for his revolution. The garden is a fascinating, tranquil place. There is also a public part of it next door with free entry, which isn't as ornate but still worth a visit. GRANVILLE ISLAND Granville Island is a very pretty small island, packed with trendy shops, restaurants and a fantastic food market. You can walk around it in no time, and the market is a huge building full of every kind of fresh foodstuff you can imagine. All kinds...

Handy, Well Located 3 Star Hotel

Advantages: Well located 3 Star budget hotel. Fairly cheap by Dublin standards.
Disadvantages: Not a lot!

...The Mespil Hotel is located on the Royal Canal on Mespil Road in Ballsbridge, only about 15 minutes walk from St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street (the two main shopping areas of the city) and about 20 minutes from O'Connell Street and the Temple Bar area. In a previous incarnation the Mespil was a large office block that housed the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. The transformation to a hotel took place in the early 1990's, and has been achieved successfully. (I was dubious when I first heard of the proposal!) There's nothing special about the Mespil, but at in or around Euro100 per night, and with some special deals on offer if you book over the Internet, it would be a good, comfortable, 3 star hotel budget hotel for anyone either on a business trip or a short weekend break to Dublin. If you're planning a longer stay then...

A Luxurious Stay In Vancouver

Advantages: great work-out space, accommodating staff, spacious rooms
Disadvantages: room service choices too limited

...The Metropolitan, located on Howe St., very central in Vancouver's bustling West End, is a wonderful place to stay when traveling on business or pleasure. ROOMS: Guest rooms are spacious and gracious--linens and matresses are top-notch, creating an extremely comfortable sleep environment. Bathrooms are large and well-appointed with marble counter-tops and wonderfully aromatic soaps and shampoos. (They weren't so good that I wanted to steal extras, though!) EXERCISE FACILITIES: The spa/swimming pool/workout room are combined in an open, inviting environment. Huge windows open onto Vancouver's downtown core, inviting the sun to shine or the rain clouds to loom, as Vancouver weather tends to change dramatically from one minute to the next. Although they don't have an elliptical machine, they have bicycles, Stair...

The Star Hotel - An absolute Gem!

Advantages: Food - Staff - Location - Everything
Disadvantages: NOTHING !

...Just back from a wonderful stay at The Star hotel in Kingussie. We stayed for a 5 night break in Sept. and cannot find fault. We were welcomed by the owner, and shown to our room. Good size, with large double bed, nice dressing table & warbrobe with plenty of space for all our walking gear. Tea & Coffe making facilities aswell as an iron & hairdryer. You can have the option of having a bath or shower, we chose bath, which was huge! Ample car parking behind the hotel which also doubles as a little beer garden. Breakfast & dinner included in price...and to be honest we have never eaten so much in our lives!!! Absolutely amazing especially for the price! A full range of choices for breakfast, fruits, cereals & of course porridge! Orange juice on tap! Once you've devoured that, a full breakfast menu to choose from...from the full...

Harbour Hotel, Galway - 3 star

Advantages: Location, price
Disadvantages: Cheap decor, no air con

...Recently stayed in this hotel over the June bank holiday weekend. Mananged to get a good deal on a double room - E125 for two people sharing plus breakfast. The hotel is in a good location - only a 5 minute walk from Shop Street which is the main street in Galway city. Parking is provided by a multi story car park next door with a reduced rate of E3 for guests per day. Hotel decor is modern but low key. Staff were attentive and helpful at all times. The hotel bar was comfortable but lacked any kind of atmosphere so drinkers would be better suited to the city. Our room was on the top floor - ceiling was slanted which made the room quite small and the view was limited. Room was clean, but fixture and fittings were cheap - espically in the bathroom. The room was also extremely warm with no air con present. Overall, our stay was alright...

The Star Hotel, Kingussie

Advantages: Great Value for Money
Disadvantages: Nothing

...My Husband and I have just returned from The Star Hotel, the hotel while being old fashioned it is extremelly clean and the staff very helpful and pleasant, the food is excellant I defy anyone to find better value for the money, the day before I arrived I injured my back and the girl on reception called Tanya kept heating my back pad in the microwave oven for me, she is a little treasure, on our second day we booked to return in March 2009 and we are looking forward to it, yes the hotel has no lifts but that is no problem, the portions of the food given are exceptional I'm sure I've put a stone on in the four days we were there. It is in a great location for seeing all other local sites, I can really recommend going to see the Reindeers just outside Aviemore a truly great experience...

Excellent 3-star hotel

Advantages: Excellent location, excellent breakfast
Disadvantages: None

...of 3 types of cereal, oranges, apples, strawberry + natural yoghurt, orange juice, apple juice, toast, hard-boiled eggs, jam, marmalade, honey, tea, coffee, Danish ham, salami, cheese slices, roll-mop herring, pate, white bread, pumpernickel bread, brown bread, rye bread, bread rolls, butter, Danish pastry etc.Our stomachs were quite full afterwards. The bedroom TV has 10 channels including CNN, Eurosport and a couple of Swedish channels. There are 3 seating areas in the hotel reception. Tour excursions can be booked at the reception desk. The receptionists speak excellent English and were helpful. Check-out time was 12 p.m. Although the hotel was rated 3-star, I would deem its facilities as 4-star. The Principals Hotels chain owns the hotel. We thought our stay was excellent....
