...My family had a weekend camping in Skegness two weekends back. Luckily enough, the week before I had recieved a free tent from my company so it saved me a few bob. The tent in question was this one. A Vango Alpha 400 4 berth dome tent. I am a very occasional camper, in fact I havn't been for over ten years and I found tents had changed a whole lot in that prevailing time. The tent comes in a lightweight holdall. Very compact and easy to carry around. It took up hardly any space in our Citroen Picasso boot at all. We arrived at the campsite in Ingoldmells just outside Skegness and placed ourselves in our desired location. Vango Venture 500

Advantages: Good Size, Brilliant Value, High Quality, Sturdy, Easy to Erect
Disadvantages: None that I can think of!

...I purchased my Vango Venture 500 towards the end of 2006. For the bargain price of £85.00 and I haven't looked back since! Numourus camping trips have bee happily spent in this tent and it will see many more! The frame consists of 2 large poles crossing over to make the main dome, and a 3rd smaller pole creating a loop for the porch area. Once erect, with all pegs and guide ropes in place the tent is extremely strong and stable. We have camped in strong winds and strong rain and it has stood strong throughout. As long as there are two of you, erecting the tent is a swift and easy process. Funnily enough you tend to erect it faster when its raining! And packing it back into the bag is an art the first time but you tend to remember how to do it from then onwards and it's easy enough. When packaged, the tent is relatively heavy...

...You should be aware that the Alpha Course is one mans version of what Christianity is all about, a man called Nicky Gumbell. I am a Christian myself, but would disagree with a lot of what he writes. He sees everything from a Charismatic perspective and the whole aim of the course is climaxed by a day or weekend away where perhaps some people will lay hands on you to receive what he calls the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Its important for you to know that its mainly Christians from a Charismatic church or pentecostal belief who would believe in such a thing. Most christians would say you have the holy Spirit the moment you become a Christian, and is not a "second stage" Most people who attend Alpha courses are already Christians, and a lot of very important questions just aren't covered, and its less than honest in its opinions...
