Advantages: comfortable, better fitting shoes at reasonable prices
Disadvantages: limited range, most of them are quite ugly

...First let me explain ?scone shoes.? When I first ordered shoes from the Shoe Tailor, experts in wider-fitting shoes, I measured my feet incorrectly and found that the only shoes in their catalogue that would fit me were their widest, ugliest, most orthopaedic, brown, granny shoes: the type you might wear to go out with your friends for a scone, in your later years. Hence my friends groaningly called them my ?scone shoes? and walked several yards behind me on the way to the pub every night. They were very comfy! However, they fell apart after a couple of years of continuous wear, and once gone, same said friends took me shopping to some ?proper? shoe shops in Glasgow and I never once consulted my Shoe Tailor catalogue again. ...I first read Ballet Shoes when I was eight. It was the first of Noel Streatfield's books I'd read, and it remains my favourite. I put it away during my teenage years and forgot about it until Christmas 2007 when I watched the BBC adaptation with Emma Watson. I went to Indonesia and got the film on knock-off DVD, and immediately after watching I rang home to get my parents to order me a copy. It was a great welcome home. Shoes, shoes, shoes....wahahaha!

Advantages: lots of cheap, high quality shoes!
Disadvantages: customer service not great!

They did not like taking me there cos I would scream and scream till I made everyone sick of me. I hated new shoes, I used to be frightened of the machine that measured my feet had to put foot into a box and it gave a sort of x ray picture to measure your foot, it was scary. However mum and dad persisted and I was bought new Clarks shoes. Clark’s shoes were and still are some of the best for little feet. My grandson has a pair. When he gets his feet measured he just has to put his foot on a foot measure and they can see by the markings on the measure what size he needs. ...We have all heard of the drought conditions that have been experienced in England recently. Unfortunately, although my part of the country is reputed to be "drier than Egypt", this isn't apparent in my garden. Following weeks of rain, the old shoes I had been using outside, finally gave up the ghost and fell apart. My feet were just as wet as they would have been had I been outside with bare feet! This WAS an option - but having seen some of the wildlife that wanders around the garden, NOT something that I chose to do. VAN HELSH**

Advantages: Great theme tune and some good action sequences.
Disadvantages: Overuse of CGI, bad writing and a waste of money.

...I went to see Van Helsing the past weekend and I wasn't all that impressed. I mainly went to see the film because it looked good from the trailer and the fact that it was made by the director of one of my favourite films 'The Mummy'. It just shows you how important trailers are nowadays to the movie industry. Even a crap film with a good trailer can do well. For example Charlie Angels: Full Throttle, what a bad film, but it had an excellent trailer with that loud prodigy music blarring. Anyway back to Van Helsing. The movie opened in the U.S with about 50 something million dollars in total and will probably make a lot next week too. Though I'm not sure it will make it's £180 million budget back in America alone. This flick will have to take some hard earned cash from the worldwide box-offce.
