For when I fancy a steamy half-hour
Review of Polti Vaporetto 2400 Steam Cleaner by
backstreetwoman
Advantages: Clean your house and get rid of bacteria at the same time!
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
...I purchased a Polti Vaporetto just a few weeks ago, and I haven't looked back since. What an amazing and versatile product. It is advertised as an appliance that you can use on a daily basis, if you so wish, and I can understand why, although it is perhaps a little bulky to get out if you just wish to wipe over the worktops. I would prefer to do that by hand with a cloth and some Dettox. However, the steam that is produced from the Vaporetto is extremely hot (don't worry though, it is only this hot right at the tip of the steam output, so just don't put your hand there!) so it is very good at ridding surfaces of bacteria.
You use ordinary tap water to fill it, hand-tighten the cap and wait for it to heat up to the right temperature. When it is ready, you click on the handle on the 'gun' and the steam comes out at variable...

I DON'T LIKE HOUSE WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review of Polti Vaporetto 2400 Steam Cleaner by
genesy
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Not knowing how much water left in the tank
...I have had the Vaporetto for several years and it is still working fine. When I bought it I had carpets; it didn't actually clean them (maybe they were to old!) but just sterilize them and, if used with just the brush without any rug, was able to bring, the flattened pile, up again. Now that I have laminated floors I use it to clean them, on low steam, and they clean beautifully.
What else I use it for?For all the other cleaning around the house.
The ceramic tile floor in the kitchen and bathroom and the wall tiles come really nice only that the floors do not need drying but I have found that is better to do a small area of wall tiles at the time and dry them immediately soon after. I use the same method (with the right hand spray and with the left I dry) on any painted surfaces, on work tops and inside and out the kitchen...

Top-of-the-range, powerful and safe steam cleaning
Review of Polti Vaporetto 3000 Eco Pro Lux Steam Cleaner by
FilmfanUK
Advantages: Top-of-the-range, efficient and safe
Disadvantages: Dried-on grease needs a helping hand
...high pressure, so that you really are cleaning with steam! Less powerful makes tend to produce a lot of water thereby making the whole process a very wet and messy experience, but the Polti is extremely efficient and leaves very little water to mop up, no matter how much you steam.
This model has a safety valve on the filling cap so that you can't unscrew it until the machine has cooled down completely (usually about 20 minutes or so; less if all of the steam has been used up). This safety device prevents you from being scalded. One complete fill of the machine in my experience generates enough steam for a good long session of cleaning, and there's a warning siren when it needs refilling.
The Vaporetto 3000 Eco Pro Lux model comes with a bewildering array of tools, including a spongee for cleaning windows and mirrors; a steel brush...

A great cleaner
Review of Polti Vaporetto 2400 Steam Cleaner by
dvk01
Advantages: cleans without chemoicals
Disadvantages: none
...I bought a wonderful cleaner. A vaporetto steam cleaner. This little machine is a marvel it cleans anything. I boughjt it originally to clean my carpets. It cleans them without leaving any ,marks or getting them wet. It cleans, sterilises and deodorises anything.
IHighly reccomend it if you have animals, children, a kitchen or a bathroom. It is the easiest way to defrost your freezer, clean a greasy cooker, diinfect the toilet,or worktops, unblock sinks, and clean anywere without nasty chemicals.I have used it to clean the carpets after spilling coffee, no stains left. It cleans windows, tiles baths. In fact I haven't found anything that it will not clean.
It works by generating a stream of high pressure steam, the safe thing is that only the 1" from the end of the tool gets hot, as soon as you are away from the end no heat or danger....

I hated housework and now I love it
Review of Polti Vaporetto 2400 Steam Cleaner by
kerrywhite
Advantages: It cleans. It sterilises. It's fun.
Disadvantages: It's pricey, but worth every penny.
...The day I bought my Polti Vaporetto I had actually intended buying a standard carpet cleaner. I have two little boys, aged 2 and 5, and lets just say my carpets, walls, curtains and furniture had seen better days. Chocolate, ribena, yogurt, paints...all manner of substances had managed to find themselves transpersed throughout the house despite my best efforts to keep my two angels under control.
Living in a rented house at the time, and becoming increasingly worried about the state of the carpets - and the prospect of having to replace them - I went out with the intention of buying a carpet cleaner. However, once in the shop I found myself perusing the steam cleaners and wondering if they really did the magical things I had seen on the TV adverts. Spurred on by a shop assistant who described the wonders of his, I handed over my piece...

Peak season is THE time to go
Review of Venice (Italy) by
Marechal_Grouchy
Advantages: a very interesting city with a lot of history charmingly interwoven among the network of canals
Disadvantages: extortionate restaurant prices, frequent flooding from November to March
...We arrived at the station ready for further adventures, scorning the advice of the Information Desk employee who recommended we take a Vaporetto (water bus) around to our youth hostel, which was situated on the island of Giudecca, south of the Venice proper and across the San Marco Canal. Our enthusiasm faded after only a few minutes’ walk in the afternoon sun, laden with our 70-liter backpacks. Venice was probably the most humid (i.e. uncomfortably hot) place I had ever encountered in Europe, and the stagnant canals (beautiful as they were) did not help matters at all.
It was July, which was supposed to be peak season - when tourists swamped the place even more decisively than did the waters in the flooding season. However, we had picked the siesta hour for our little hike; and at this time, much of Venice appeared little...

Venice-a must see-even on a student budget!
Review of Venice (Italy) by
Timor123
Advantages: Beautiful buildings, a unique experience
Disadvantages: Crowds, Pigeons, Expensive near St. Mark's
...Arriving in Venice is one of the most bizarre things you will ever experience. When I arrived it was after a fortnight travelling by train stopping at every major city on the way from Krakow in Poland. Venice was our final destination, and arriving just before 9pm at the train station, we were expecting exactly what we had become accustomed to on our trip: hordes of people offering cheap accommodation, bright lights and streets brimming with traffic. But this was Venice, and there was none of this. Leaving the station we were met by virtual silence, nobody pestering us to stay with them, there was a strange softness about the lighting, and only a few vaporettos were chugging along the Grand Canal ahead of us.
Accommodation is limited in Venice, and what there is, is expensive because of this. We had pre-booked our beds for the night...
