...Before I begin, I'll mention that I love Vaseline and use it all the time and you are about to read a very detailed opinion on the stuff! I'd like to say that I love these little tubs of petroleum jelly because basically they are so handy and have literally SO many uses! Over the last year Vaseline has been promoted not only for its petroleum jelly but also for its many other products now available, also in many girly magazines adverts have been pursuading you all men and women to use the brand, they insist that their many products work and their petroleum jelly certainly does what I want it to! ...Im suprised there arent 100's of reviews of vaseline! It rocks my world! Its really cheap - about 99p for a standard sized tub and the tubs come in an array of sized, so suit all your vaseline needs, you can even get it in a wee tiny tin to carry round in your handbag in case of vaseline emergencies Everyone knows what vaseline is and what it looks like, its that lovely white creamy jelly type stuff in the yellowy jars. I believe petroleum jelly comes from oil. Its got about a hundred uses so im going to list all the ones i can think of Lipbalm - im an obsessive Carmex user but when im running low i substitute with vaseline and it does the trick, you can also mix it with abit of lipstick to make yourself a shiny shiny lipgloss Brow groomer - eyebrows got a life of their own? grab your brow brush and tidy em up with some... ...Vaseline is pure petroleum jelly, which is a semi-solid, thick and mushy substance and is made from hydrocarbons. It can get rather greasy, but use a small amount and its perfect! It also has no smell and almost no colour - its a see-through with a tinge of yellow. Vaseline... Its been around forever, yet you can't beat it! Why not? Because it comes in a range of different sizes (from a large household pot to small, fits-in-yer-pocket tub), it works, its cheap (99p upwards) and it has a thousand uses! Ok, slight exaggeration, but here are the ones that I have discovered: ~ Lips ~ What it was designed for, lips. Better than your normal lip-gloss that is made of various chemicals and often feels slimey - vaseline is the perfect thickness to not run, but spread easily on your lips. Vaseline is thought of mainly as a lip balm for many people and for most people it is a neccessity (in more ways than one) However, Vaseline has many different purposes which you may not have heard about. Shaping - You can use Vaseline for shaping and defining your eyebrows. Styling - Use Vaseline on those fly-away bits of hair, to keep it in place without using gels or waxes. ...I recently read a great op on vaseline which gave some good ideas that I had never thought of but I wanted to add some ideas of my own. Vaseline is only 99p a tub and is generally used for dry skin but here are some more ideas: Whilst on holiday, after scuba diving, my flippers had been rubbing on my toe and it got infected and actually started going purple. I started to think my toe was going to fall off! My boyfriend gave me a tub of vaseline and said to put some on and I thought no way is that going to help but within 10 minutes the pain subsided and after 20 minutes my toe was back to normal as the vaseline had drawn out all the poison. I was amazed and have been using it ever since. This also works on any cut to draw out infection and if you put some on as soon as you cut yourself, it will stop any infection from getting... ...For some reason, everybody sniggers when you mention vaseline!! It is a wonderful skin care treatment and the Lip Therapy product is fantastic. HISTORY +++++++ Vaseline is petroleum jelly. Petroleum Jelly was first discovered in 1859 in America, apparantly it caused problems for the oil riggers as it caused the rigs to cease up, but they loved using it on their hands!! A chemist named Cheesebourogh discovered the healing properties of Petroleum Jelly and opened a factory in 1870 to make Vaseline. Apparantly he ate a teaspoonful of it every day. Yuck!! According to some sources, the word Vasline comes from two words, the German word for water, Wasser and the Greek word for oil, elain. Advantages: moisturises, nourishes the skin. No harmfull additives
Disadvantages: Bit greasy!

...Do you know......this stuff is fantastic! I recommend it to most of my clients. It is the best lip gloss around, and it will help to moisturise the lips. It's especially good on dry chapped lips. As a make-up artist I recommend using a lip liner as a colour close to the colour you desire on your lips. Fill in the entire lip area with the lip liner & then take your "fantastic vaseline"! and pop it onto your lips! ............Hey presto! You have your own coloured lip gloss and whats more because you used a lip liner pencil which is dry in application, it will last you for hours! All you need to do is just top up your vaseline throughout the day! Another good way to use your vaseline, is on your hands. Now we all know applying a dab on the hads and rubbing it in will help soften the chapped skin on dry hands, but have you tried... Read review
