the best baby carrier ever!
Review of Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier by  olgita

Advantages: comfortable easy to use
Disadvantages: none

...After becoming pregnant i was given this baby carrier in a horrible gree colour. "i will never use this" i said to my partner. oh how wrong i was. bjorn baby carrier is one of the most comfortable and easy to use baby carriers ever! it comprises of 2 attachable parts. the actual carrier and the straps. the two are connected by clipping the carrier in at the bottom of the harness and also at the sides. the bottom of the harness has a large strap which can be pulled tight when using it for a small baby. and adjusted very easily as baby grows. it is very easy to strap baby in as unlike some carriers does not fasten from front or back but from the sides which makes it very easy to use aone. the baby is very comfortable and snugg in this carrier and because the carrier has only one side whichever the adult is wearing it the baby... Baby Bjorn Activ Carrier
Review of Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier by  Kazm

Advantages: good weight distribution
Disadvantages: don't break it!

...My first daughter was born 10 years ago and it being November and not having enough money to buy a pushchair straight away we bought a second hand carrier to take her around in and when it was cold tucked her in our coats. 10 ½ years on we have a second daughter so being enamoured of carriers and totally out of touch I did a bit of research. It seemed that Baby Bjorn were ‘the’ ones to go for especially if you had a bit more cash to hand. At 6 months pregnant I wondered off to our local baby equipment shop to look at carriers and lo and behold they had a feature on the Activ that was not out yet but would be widely available by the time I had given birth. I was still a bit dubious at £70 a lot of money for what it is but I figured it would get lots and lots of use as you can carrier up to 13 Kilos and it had lots of back support... Read review

Wilkinet baby carrier
Review of Wilkinet The Baby Carrier by  mollyanna1

Advantages: soft and snug for small babies, comfortable
Disadvantages: needs lots of practice putting it on

...I bought the Wilkinet carrier for our first son who is now four, recommended by a friend. We both had premature babies so the idea of a carrier suitable for babies from 5lbs was great. I used the navy cordroy carrier and found the main advantages to be the soft, well wearing fabric, the padding and the comfort. The carrier is very comfortable for both mum and small baby. The padding is in all the right places and with it being all fabric it is soft all over with no rough bits or bits to dig in. When there was the odd little 'accident' on the carrier I could sponge it down and leave to dry ok. The disadvantage I did find however were the long straps. I am 5' 5'' and size 10/12 and found wrapping the long straps round me whist holding the baby quite difficult. Once I got the nack it wasn't too bad, although I wouldn't recommend... Read review

Tomy freestyle baby carrier with 2 positions.
Review of Tomy Freestyle baby carrier by  snaketracer

Advantages: You can carry your baby facing you or facing outwards in total comfort.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

...I bought one of these for my first baby, it was a god send, you can carry your baby in 2 positions - facing you or facing outwards. I found facing them towards you when they are small is better as they cant see much from birth anyway. As they get older they can see better so changing the position means they can see where they are going. I also used it with my second baby which helped me a lot as I didn't have to push around a double buggy, I had the baby in the carrier and my other daughter in a single pushchair, great for looking around shops. The material inside is like a fleece, it is so soft and snug, it still feels like this now after lots of washes. (machine washable). It also has a storage pocket and a dummy holder which is great for when your baby spits out the dummy! It can fold out flat so you can put your baby... Read review

excellent simple, safe baby carrier
Review of Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier by  mussonanna

Advantages: simple, compact, safe, comfortable
Disadvantages: expensive

...I have a particularly difficult time in getting my baby to sleep, i am sure I am not alone. Sometimes he just wants to be near me all the time, and the baby bjorn alows me to carry him around whilst doing other things- like housework, whilst he sleeps happily. it is great to go marching across the field on a long walk, and is really simple to put on. The front section clips easily onto the straps, which are colour coded to help - sounds daft but when your in a tizz because baby is crying, it helps. The straps are comfortable and easy to adjust and the body is adjustable too, for when baby grows. Baby can face front or back and you can also throw it in the washing machine, vital!!! The Bjorn is more expensive than other carriers that you can buy, retailing at around £50, prices vary from shop to shop. Although I'm sure you could... Read review

Being a Little Explorer
Review of LittleLife Explorer Baby Carrier by  Pittypomm

Advantages: Freedom from the Buggy, Very Adjustable
Disadvantages: Hard to try out, Expensive

...**************** Littlelife Explorer Child Carrier **************** Child carriers are a nifty little invention which allow you to carry your child around on your back - hopefully in relative comfort. They are very similar to normal backpacks in their variability in cost, size and design. We have always enjoyed walking, usually just long ambles around the English countryside, but occasionally we have tackled mountains as well. We didn't want to limit ourselves to pushchair friendly walking when our little one arrived so we looked into child carriers as soon as she was old enough to sit in one comfortably (this is probably around six months). Now I don't want to scare you off baby backpacks altogether, but buying one is not a job for anyone lacking in persistence or stamina. Before I get into details about the one we chose here... HAVE BABY, WILL TRAVEL
Review of Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier by  jools30

Advantages: Comfortable, supportive, easy to use
Disadvantages: Which colour scheme to choose

...When my youngest daughter was born, I had a dilemma over transporting both children. My eldest was 3 at the time so I felt a double buggy would be an expensive option as it probably wouldn’t get used an awful lot. My eldest would walk quite a bit, but if I was going on a major shopping expedition chances are her legs would start to ache before I had finished my shopping. Also, we live in a very rural area and often go for walks round local footpaths. So I decided a baby carrier would be my best option. If I was going shopping, I could put the baby in the pram to start with and the carrier would go in the basket. Then when Caitlin (my eldest) got tired, baby could go in the sling, I could convert the pram to pushchair mode and we could carry on our merry way. The next decision was which sling? There are many on the market... Read review

Baby Bjorn carrier
Review of Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier by  dianac

Advantages: Supports head, keeps baby warm
Disadvantages: A bit tiring on your back at first. But you soon strengthen up.

...I bought one of these second hand from Loot for £19. [Some women buy them and hardly use them. So it's easy to get one in good condition]. I didn't think I could use it from birth [particularly as my baby weighed less than 6lbs]. But I met a women with a similarly small baby who was very happy in it. I started using it when Maia was a week old. In the first few weeks of her life it was a great way of getting her to sleep [walking around the house doing tasks until she fell asleep]. It is also a great way to transport her when I'm on foot. This was probably the most useful piece of baby kit we invested in.... Read review

The best baby 'thing' we've ever bought!
Review of Cosatto Sherpa Baby Carrier by  sallysmith1973

Advantages: They can't run away from you!
Disadvantages: They have a tendancy to pull your hair when they're sitting in it!

...We initially started to look at baby carriers for our second child, mainly because our first child started school and as we live fairly near to the school, we decided to shun the standard '4 x 4 school run' shenanigans, and walk! " Why not use the buggy?" I hear you cry? Well, not only are the pavements dreadful around where we live, and your arms feel like they're going to fall off by pushing it to the end of the road, through vibration from constant pot-holes - also too when your 4 year old needs to hold on to the buggy and walk along side, because we have to pass and cross a very busy road - and they have this tendency to pull on the buggy, you feel like you're pushing 10 stone!!! Also too, I don't know if you've ever noticed, but it tends to rain rather a lot in this country, and it's difficult to push a buggy and hold... Read review

A good looking carrier that Daddies will wear!
Review of Tomy Freestyle baby carrier by  Wackywaith

Advantages: Soft fabric, comfortable for baby, looks sporty
Disadvantages: Can be fiddly getting baby in and out

...We bought the Tomy Freestyle for use with our first child two years ago. It's a front carrier that takes a baby from birth to around 9 months. It cost me around £30 from Mothercare. We chose this carrier because the fabric was so soft inside and on the outside it was quite plain, yet had a sporty look to it. My husband said it was the most masculine of the carriers available which was a big plus for him. It has two wide shoulder straps which cross over the wearer's back and a wide back support that goes around your waist. The whole front folds down to get baby in and out although we both find it hard to get the clips back through their respective holes to secure it. There is a part at the front which folds up and down to support babies head which is particularly useful for newborns or if baby falls asleep. Baby can face... Read review
