Suitable for anyone, Good all rounder
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2i by
woolymike1234
Advantages: Looks, Handling, Fuel consumption, Low insurance group
Disadvantages: Lots of ragged ones about from boy racers; watch out for rattle noises from engine
...The Corsa 1.2 SXi is one of the most sorted little cars on the road. Its one of those cars you can get into and drive straight away, perfect for the learner drivers and older drivers. The SXI model gives sportier seats, alloy wheels, rear spoiler and other minor extra exterior trim. All of there extras combined make a big difference in the Corsa’s looks. The most important upgrade is the lowered suspension combined with the bigger wheels, making a big difference to the cars steering, improving road holding and generally improving the whole driving experience. Although the power steering is bordering on being to light and sometimes you find yourself over correcting. The performance is very good for the size of the engine and fuel economy is excellent. The Corsa is surprisingly spacious giving room for two adults and a child seat...

Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.4i
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2i by
clickysteve
Advantages: Good engine, looks, interior.
Disadvantages: Barmy low-ratio gears, irritating design faults, tiny boot.
...I drove one of these for over a week while my car was being repaired. I have to agree with the other more negative reviews, for 14 years on from my first car (a Mk 1 Corsa) I don't think anything has improved!
It looks cool, the interior is fine, it was pretty refined, and most of the car was what you should expect from a brand new model. However...
It is no longer small, about the size of an older Astra!
The forward visibility was poor - I am 6 feet tall and couldn't guess where the front was! The thick pillars make pulling out from junctions a bit tricky.
In the SXi model the suspension is far too hard making the car feel as if it was jumping round bumpy corners, rather than being fast (as was intended?) No feel from the steering wheel either.
The gearing ratios are daft - far too low. The engine pulled really well from low revs...

The 2002 Corsa 1.2SXI Model
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2i by
DAVEAINSCOW
Advantages: Cheap, reliable little run around
Disadvantages: Waiting for delivery
...I recently bought the 2002 model Vauxhall Corsa 1.2Sxi, I was attracted to it by the great look, only then did I find out what advantages it actually has.
It was priced at £8500, with the choice of 3 years intrest free credit.
When I was looking round the showroom I was looking at all differnt types of models like the diesel and the petrol 1.2club etc (6999), but none were a patch on the Sxi.
The difference being the interior and power to the engine:
The interior on a Club is very standard, everything is platic and cheap looking, it has a radio casette, and even a coloured plastic gearnob, however the Sxi hs a CD player, Twin airbag, central locking, alloy wheels, twin spoiler and fog lamps it also has a great sporty effect on the dashboard ( a metallic grey).
The car also has great security, the remote control for the central...

HAS GRANNY PUT THE FUN BACK INTO DRIVING?
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2i by
martin84
Advantages: price, efficiency, reliability, sporty etc...
Disadvantages: decreciation!
...speakers! Insurance and fuel economy is great. These little cars have got a 1.2 16v engine which are very nippy wee motors. Handling wont disapoint either, due to the tightened suspension of the sxi, the front seats are well comfortable as theses are bucket seats, they also come with 15 inch alloys, and a REAL spare wheel, (well done Vauxhall). A few other clever things vauxhall have bred into there Corsas have been, the no need to change timing belt every so often, these cars chave chains, they also have driver and pass air bags, seatbelt tension relief system (incase you crash the seatbelt wont rip through you), clever rear seating positions, in a nutshell it means you can fit more in your boot without moving seats, just moving them forward a little, central locking with dead locks. If buying from a Vauxhall dealer ask them about your Network...

Is it Sxi, Corsa it is
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2i by
JHubbard
Advantages: Style, Quality, Ride, Comfort and Cost
Disadvantages: None!
...INTRODUCTION
Vauxhall Man strikes again! After 6 years and one month, we finally decided to part company with our rather good little Vauxhall Corsa ‘Sport’ (See my previous Op); and after the usual tramp around the showrooms we have replaced it with... another Vauxhall Corsa – an Sxi 1.2 16-valve! This time, however, we opted for the Corsa Sxi, and, now baby is less of a baby and more of a little girl, we decided that 5 doors (i.e. 4 doors and a boot) are better than 3 doors (that is – 2 doors and a boot)!
Having now owned 3 Corsas, 1 Nova (‘No go’ in Spanish?!?) from new and one nearly new Cavalier it has been interesting to note the changes in design and quality from Vauxhall (Opel/General Motors) in the last few years – mostly these changes have been positive.
So where to begin –...

The Nippy Little Corsa
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2i by
aljones
Advantages: Great looks, great economy, cheap (ish) to insure
Disadvantages: Looks like a sports car, but doesn't have an engine to match
...I've owned my Corsa SXi for two and a half years now. It has provided me with everything the average buyer could home for in a car of this class. The SXi model was originally due to be a limited special edition. So, I bought one in it's first generation, before Vauxhall decided to alter a few small things (actually, they just altered the badge) and bring it back due to it's popularity.
The SXi is essentiall a step down from the Sport model. The SXi has a much more friendly relationship with the insurance companies, thanks to its 1.2 litre, 16 valve engine. When I bought the car, Vauxhall were giving away 2 years free insurance. As I was just 19 when I bought it (or rather, when my Dad bought it for me), this was great, as insurance costs would have been far to high otherwise. Once this insurance ran out (which was in January this year...

Vauxhall Corsa
Review of Everything that starts with C ... by
mikejones_2003
Advantages: Handles well, Nippy.
Disadvantages: Slight steering problem.
...I love my R Reg Vauxhall Corsa because I think when Vauxhall gave the Corsa an overhaul a couple of years back they improved it in nearly every area. It still looks like a Corsa - but it looks modern now, and looks like it will stand the test of time in the looks department. The three-door is sporty looking (especially in SXi and SRi trim) and the five doors make the car look bigger in my opinion! It handles well, you can fling it around country lanes and it lets you know exactly what is going on. Driving on bumpy roads (which we have a lot of in the UK) is like driving with your hands on a bouncy washing machine! Talking of steering, in hot weather, the steering goes really heavy when you have been on full lock for about 10 seconds, but if you leave it, it will go back to normal in about thirty seconds. The dealer was helpful...

53 plate Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXI - My first car
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2i by
eadand2003
Advantages: Looks, Performace, Running Costs, Equipment
Disadvantages: Handling in wet, Vauxhall Dealer.
...I currently own a 53 plate Silver Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXi, im going to try provide a short and sweet review on the car for any potential buyers.
Engine and Performance:
Whilst a 1.2 engine may put potential buyers off due to a lack of power, it should be noted that this potential 16v engine is one of the best in its class, boasting one of the best 0-60mph times of 11.6 seconds. The engine is superb through the gears, although it is revved a little hard at motorway speeds but not enough to be a problem.
9\10 - Excellent pokey engine for the size.
Equipment:
The SXI comes standard with a CD player with steering wheel controls, electric windows and mirrors, 15" alloy wheels and sports seats. It also has little touches like being lowered with white dials inside and a general more aggressive, sporty look to the car. The CD player on my car...

The Small Car With Alot To Say!
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2i by
SamJEmm
Advantages: Sleek, Cunning design, Cheap to run and Nippy!
Disadvantages: Problems With Customer service from vauxhall, little problems here and there!
...I bought my Corsa back in August 2005 after seeing an advert in my local paper, my car at the time was about to pack in, Time for a change.
I decided to look more into the Corsa because of the deals my local Vauxhall garage had on offer! One years free insurance, 0% finance for 3 years and 0 deposit on the 1.2i SXi.
The salesman was very helpful guiding me buying a new car and I thought I had every bit of information possible, I guess you could say I was wrong!
8 weeks later my corsa arrived, I put on some additional extras, tinted rear windows, 16" alloy wheels and black metallic paint, the car itself handles very well, feels like it wants to stay glued to the road, very nippy for a 1.2i, the car also comes with twinport technology, very clever but no one seems to know what it means, basically recycled exhaust fumes.
Vauxhall has...

Best Service Ever
Review of Vauxhall by
aljones
Advantages: Friendly service, prompt and reliable
Disadvantages: None
...I've owned my Vauxhall Corsa for 2 and a half years now. I bought it from W.P. Lewis & Son in Pembroke Dock, Wales, and quite simply cannot fault their excellent service. The car was ready to be collected on the day they said, and at the time they said. Although I personally did not need it, they spent a good 20 minutes explaining all the features of the car.
The sales staff are excellent, and are a far cry from the typical Arthur Daily style car dealer, and are in fact very friendly, courteous and approachable, and do not haras you in any way. They are not pushy, and will quite hapily recommend a lower spec. car if they think it suits you better. I was looking at the Corsa Sport 1.4, but they suggested the cheaper Corsa SXi 1.2, as it met my neads more, falling in a lower insurance bracket.
They take care of all the hard work for you...
