Reviews of vauxhall sri
Motoring, with sporting accent
Review of Vauxhall Vectra SRi 2.2i hatchback by
MJKerr
Advantages: Sporty feel, improvement over others in range
Disadvantages: Minor technical faults (trim, electrical)
...1998 Vectra 2.0 SRi
The SRi (2.0) is a more defined car, than the "normal" range cars.
This is helped by "uprated" suspension and wider track tyres.
Interior features are slightly similar to the standard range, but enhanced by improved trim, based on the CDX.
Performance is near to that of the GSi, as there are many complainants of the GSi, who have also driven the SRi!
The vehicle is a compromise between the top of the range GSi (which is a modified SRi, supplied by MSD) and the CDX.
Fuel consumption averages 30mpg., and look for "air breather" modification on engine.
Insurance is reasonable for the performance....

Cavalier SRI
Review of Vauxhall Cavalier SRi 2.0 saloon (1988 -1995) by
izzyshaw
Advantages: Good vauxhall quality, fast and reliable.
Disadvantages: A tad ugly now
...To be honest the first cavalier SRi I came across was an old G Reg faded red rusty £50 example but the car just wouldnt die. Whatever we tried to do to the car to kill it, it just kept on going.
This was only the 2 litre 8 valve engine but since that car I have bought quite a few cavaliers because I find them brilliant cars.
The cavalier SRi's I have had have all been fanatstic performers right through the engine range (2.0 8v, 2.0 16v red top and 2.0 16v ecotec) I have had all the different SRi models and I cant really complain. The car isnt let down anywhere, great fuel economy compared with its performance, comfortable recaro made seats, good handling for a big roomy car, and engines you just cant kill.
In my opinion if you can find a 2.0 16v red top engined SRi with low mileage and clean bodywork, GET IT!!
So all in all to cut...

Motoring, with sporting accent (part two)
Review of Vauxhall Vectra SRi 3.0CDTi V6 24v by
MJKerr
Advantages: Sporty feel, improvement over others in range
Disadvantages: Minor technical faults (trim, electrical), fuel economy, company car tax band
...2005 Vectra 3.0 V6 CDTI SRi
The SRi is a more defined car, than the "normal" range cars.
This is helped by "uprated" suspension and wider track tyres.
Interior features are slightly similar to the standard range, but enhanced by improved trim
Performance is near to that of the older 2.5 V6 GSi, but with vastly improved fuel economy
The vehicle is a compromise between the 1.9 CDTI SRi (which will return a better fuel economy) and the 3.0 V6 CDTI Elite
Fuel consumption averages 30mpg.
Insurance is reasonable for the performance
Due to the high company car tax band and the poor fuel economy (compared to the 1.9 CDTI version) haggle hard for a discount
I bought my 16 month old, 10000 mile example for £10800 on a window price of £11995
When bought from a Vauxhall dealership, a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty is included and can...

Is the Vectra now a serious threat
Review of Vauxhall Vectra SRi 2.6i hatchback by
mematedave
Advantages: Great desirability
Disadvantages: Poor fuel consumption
...In its early days not even theives and joyriders would be willing to drive a Vectra. The looks were to put it nicely bland and unappealing even to the company reps who get given them for nothing this car was a bit of an embarassment.
However things have come along way since 1996 when the Vectra was first introduced. The sporty versions sucxh as the acclaimed SRi and the GSi are taking the humble saloon to new levels of ride quality and performance. The engines are extremley responsive, the 2.5 litre V6 is perhaps the best around, despite it being extremlet thirsty around town.
The car looks as you would expect, mean and unforgiving. The interior is also pleasing to the eye and retains Vauxhalls reputation for durability and functionality.
Overall a very nice car, but at a high price....

Not as fast as the Cavalier
Review of Vauxhall Vectra SRi 2.6i hatchback by
Stephen140870
Advantages: Nice looking car
Disadvantages: Not fast enough from a standing start
...I have just taken this model of Vectra on a test drive when at an open day for vauxhals, I accidently got lost so I could see what the car would preform like and to be honest it was not nearly as quick off the mark as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong it is not a slow car but for years I had a Cavalier SRi and if I had the choice I would go back to that rather than I a new Vectra.
Vectra's still need new tyres every 10-12,000 miles and for somebody who puts in a few miles a week it can work out dear.
Over all it is not a bad car but I still think that there could be a few more improvements made....

2004 Corsa C SRi 1.8 16v
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.8i 16v by
MJRacer
Advantages: Fun, Pratical, Stylish....
Disadvantages: None to be honest!
...After someone crashing into the back of my Mitsubishi Galant V6 & writing it off, I was looking for a replacement car.
I already own a 52 reg Corsa C SXi 1.2 16v but wanted similar power to the Galant, thats when I saw the 1.8 SRi & fell in love with it instantly.
I bought a SRi 2004 1.8 in Ultra Blue for £6995 with 15k on the clock.
First looks of the SRi:
Looks very sporty but very under rated in my opinion & looks can be deceiving when it comes to the performance of this car.
Driving the SRi:
The SRi is a great car to drive, you can drive as normal getting great mpg (35) & comfort all day long.
But when you want the evil, fun side of the SRi............Simply put the foot down and the fun begins.
The acceleration is unbelievable of this little car, mines is 7.5s 0-60mph, Top speed is 130+mph
Driving at high speeds is also...

Vectra SRi 1.9CDTi
Review of Vauxhall Vectra SRi 1.9CDTi by
cpennington
Advantages: Great drive
Disadvantages: Economy suffers when driven hard.
...I had a couple of these as hire cars, covering about 15000 miles over 6 months. They were pre-facelift models (04 and 54 reg). If I was in the market to buy a car in this class. this would be a sure contender.
The SRi badge is probably pushing things a little. I always associated SRi's with BIG engines, and certainly not diesels! However, while the diesel (150ps) does a good job, I have to say the handling is the thing that justifies that Sri badge. The car feels really safe cornering and in general driving situations.
While the Vectra has yet to reach the NCAP safety ratings of 5* acheived by manufacturers such as Renault, I would suggest that improved handling offered by a Vectra over a competetive model would actually reduce your need for this higher rating. I always felt that I could fully trust the brakes on the Sri, which I...

Fancy an SRi? i did!
Review of Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.4i 16v 5dr by
richard2010
Advantages: Very small and nippy car
Disadvantages: Can seem cramped from inside
...I came across my vauxhall corsa sri in a local news advertised somerclose, I decided to go and look at the the car that same day.
As soon as i saw the car sitting on their drive i knew it was the car for me and after looking round it i took it for a test drive. This was my very first car and it was quite exciting after jst passing my test, I knew insurance for it would be alot but i didnt mind because i would have an SRi.
The test drive was perfect it drove like it was brand new it felt weird at first because it wasnt like the car i learnt to drive in.
I decided to buy the car for a very reasonable price got insuranse as soon as posible then took it for a spin the next day, it was brilliant even though i would recommend powersteering because it does get quite difficult to steer at slow speeds and during manouvers. the gearbox is smooth...

awesome performance
Review of Vauxhall Vectra SRi 2.6i hatchback by
D1A1UK
Advantages: Very quick and well built
Disadvantages: depreciation
...The successor to the MIGHTY Cavalier GSI - but this time in an estate version - this car has got so much power - I can literally smell the petrol fumes from it's engine?! All is well with the car - it is SO right - with awesome looks and great standard equipment - this is a car to be proud of owning.
OK - so when you think of a highly innovative car manufacturer 0 do you think of Vauxhall - No. It's hardly the first name that springs to mind - Lotus could be one, and Porsche perhaps, maybe even Fiat - but due to cars like the Vectra - the Vauxhall image has been one of much blandness throughout the past few years. However, all is changing as I type - the latest Astra models and Astra Coupe models show style - and the forthcoming Corsa will be a hit. Add to that the greatest Sports car at under £24000 - the VX220 - and Vauxhall's image...

THE REAL ASTRA SRi REVIEW (02-04) 1.8 16v
Review of Vauxhall Astra SRi 1.8 hatchback by
james_rules2000uk
Advantages: Performance, Cost, Looks
Disadvantages: Common car, petrol and SUSPENSION!
...about the same though - from experience)!
and obviously the looks are the same the wheel size etc... you can get cruise control with both aswell, but traction control is an extra with the 1.8.
Now, let me get to the bigest let down on the 1.8 (which is crazy)
THE SUSPENSION. I'm not one to change things to do with engines, brakes and suspension on cars..... THIS CAR IS SO BOUNCY HOWEVER, IT NEEDS A DIFFERENT SET OF SPRINGS.
ok, its not ridiculous, but it is certainly not as tame as the SXi.
Being so used to my 1.6 SXi, when driving the SRi i felt a little queasy afterward. it just doesn't seem to hold the road as good.
Vauxhal upgraded everything else such as brakes and general tweaks... WHY DID THEY DOWNGRADE THE SUSPENSION???
So in all, yes the astra is a good car.
good to drive, good to run, insure, good looks and i like it a lot...
