Advantages: great road handling, big boot space, comfortable to drive
Disadvantages: not enough interior room

...in my opinion the vauxhall vectra isa nice looking family car, we have the sri 1.8, the interior is satisfactory the cd radio is not the best sound in the world but it does the job, comfort wise it is again satisfactory but it lacks back pasenger space, i have 2 car seats in mine and with my husband being tall he has seat further back resulting in my toddlers feet not being able to move and also if someone gets in the back it is very tight. The boot space is ample i can get a double pushchair in and still have room for other things. The road handling is supberb it handles corners like a dream and i dont think petrol consumption is to bad, i am currently getting about 36mpg round town and 45mpg on the motorway. In all i think the car is a very good buy i would say the only badside in my opinion is lack of interior room....

Disadvantages: Economy suffers when driven hard.

...I had a couple of these as hire cars, covering about 15000 miles over 6 months. They were pre-facelift models (04 and 54 reg). If I was in the market to buy a car in this class. this would be a sure contender. The SRi badge is probably pushing things a little. I always associated SRi's with BIG engines, and certainly not diesels! However, while the diesel (150ps) does a good job, I have to say the handling is the thing that justifies that Sri badge. The car feels really safe cornering and in general driving situations. While the Vectra has yet to reach the NCAP safety ratings of 5* acheived by manufacturers such as Renault, I would suggest that improved handling offered by a Vectra over a competetive model would actually reduce your need for this higher rating. Vauxhall Vectra 1.8i Club Hatchback

Advantages: Nice looking, good space, cheap to buy compared to similar vehicles

...Previously owned a Ford Escort 1.6 16v EFI estate and I must say my first impressions of this car are that it is fantastic compared. We went to a car supermarket and saw this Vauxhall Vectra on a 51 plate (looks like a club rather than LS) with 15k on clock with a price tag of £4000. The car is a nice metallic burgundy in perfect condition with new tyres all around. Being a car supermarket you cannot haggle on price so I got them to double check the mileage as it is a 4 year old car. Advantages: Superb Ride, Responsive Powerful Engine, ABS, Power Steering, Added Safety Features, Security Alarm, Plus More.

Vauxhall Vectra Arctic 2.0 Diesel

Advantages: Economical, Great Handling & Reliable, Spacious
Disadvantages: Looks a bit scruffy, No CD Player, security needs to be improved (But is Sufficient)

To say the car is nearly ten, the wear and tear is in reasonable condition, and the handling of the vehicle is superb, I had the opportunity to test drive this vehicle (Petrol Version) when it was launched, but it did not meet expectations, it was tight to handle round corners, and the fuel consumption was high, and it just felt scruffy and clingy. So I scrapped the idea of getting one and went to fords instead. However I was given the opportunity to buy one of these cars second-hand, and I have to say the feel of the diesel is brilliant, although, not so good for the environment, the Vauxhall can do the distance on a low budget. Vauxhall Vectra Arctic 1.8 16V

Advantages: Cheap Secondhand, Alot for the money
Disadvantages: Short cam belt interval, Rear suspension bushes prone to wear

...I have recently purchased one of these cars on Ebay. Mine is a '99 T reg and it has covered 1000,000 miles but still runs sweet as a nut. The engine fitted to mine is a 1.8 Ecotec which for me is plenty powerfull enough and is very economical. There doesent appear to be anything mgour wrong with it and I got it for a bargain £600. The driving possition is excellent and the equipment is quite generous for a mid range model. It has alloy wheels as standard, electric windows, traffic master, adjustable steering whell and air conditioning. Overall I am very happy with this car. The only thing with Vectra's of any model upto 2002 is that the cam belt interval is quite short at 40,000k but aslong as you stick to this scedule then you wont get many problems. Also the rear suspension rose buhes tend to wear causing a knocking sound from the back...

Owning a Vauxhall Vectra,

Advantages: Safe, comfortable large family car. Quite economical.
Disadvantages: Gearboxes can suffer on earlier models.

All Vectras offer a nice smooth drive, quiet engine and stress free motorway driving. When looking for a large family saloon/hatchback car, you should put a Vectra on your shortlist for sure. I hope you enjoy owning a Vauxhall Vectra as much as I have....

Vauxhall Vectra - A reps car.

Advantages: Great ride, comfortable and easy to drive
Disadvantages: Heavy, big petrol comsumption

...Despite Jeremy Clarksons mixed opinions and many gripes about the Vauxhall Vectra, I think it's a great car. Clarkson described the car as getting a blank piece of A4 paper and colouring it all in, he said that looked like the car, lifeless and plain. However he also named it as his car of the century, because it's everything a car should be for the average user. The vectra 2.0 GLS is a beast on the motorway, it will eat them up with no problems whatsoever. It has a powerful 2 litre engine that enables you to sail down the long roads of the UK much as many travelling salesmen and reps do each day. There is a reason that they all drive Vectras! The car does seem heavy and does excel on motorways, not good around town due to the over excessive petrol consumption. On average you are looking at 30 mpg and your money seems to fly out...

Advantages: Spacious and nice looking
Disadvantages: Quite noisy and does go through a lot of fuel

...Bought one of these cars myself, thinking they looked nice (which they do). Since that day I sort of regret it. It is a nice car, quite fun to drive but can have a lot of problems. A common problem with Vectra's that I found out after the purchase was that they often need a non-return valve fitted to the engine. For no reason at all, and at the most inappropiate of times, you find yourself going out to your car to start it up and it just won't fire up. According to the mechanics the fuel is running back from the engine to the tank, so basically no fuel is available to start it up. I'm not sure if this was a 'random' fault on mine due to the fact that it had been into a garage to get a new turbo head, and maybe one of the mechanics that were tinkering with the engine didn't do something properly. At present I reside in a small village...
