Vauxhall Vectra 1.8i Club Hatchback
Review of Vauxhall Vectra LS 1.8i hatchback by
lostsworld
Advantages: Nice looking, good space, cheap to buy compared to similar vehicles
Disadvantages: slightly underpowered, expensive to run
...Previously owned a Ford Escort 1.6 16v EFI estate and I must say my first impressions of this car are that it is fantastic compared.
We went to a car supermarket and saw this Vauxhall Vectra on a 51 plate (looks like a club rather than LS) with 15k on clock with a price tag of £4000. The car is a nice metallic burgundy in perfect condition with new tyres all around. Being a car supermarket you cannot haggle on price so I got them to double check the mileage as it is a 4 year old car. The mileage was correct so we snapped it up considering all my other cars were bought with 60,000+ miles on them.
The car itself has a 1.8i 16v ecotek engine with apparently 122bhp. The features include airbags driver and passenger indash and in side of seats, air con, heated electric wing mirrors, electric windows(you can also close windows from...

Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 LS
Review of Vauxhall Vectra LS 1.8i hatchback by
themotor
Advantages: Roomy, Quick, Competenthandling, Ease of ownership
Disadvantages: Becomes uncomfortable, Poor steering
...The 1.8 engine in the Vectra is a strong unit, with a selection of five, well-spaced gear ratios, which allows the driver to find a suitable gait for the particular situation they are in. There is a very spacious boot, accessed by a very large hatchback opening and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, albeit one that doesn't fold completely flat. Build quality I found to be slightly above that of the Mondeo, with some nice textures and well chosen materials. The driver's seat has plenty of adjustment, but there is a lack of lower back support, which becomes evident after a couple of hours behind the wheel. The biggest gripe aimed at this car is often its handling. In my personal opinion, this is not a poor-handling car as long as you spend enough time in it and discover that beyond the mute, loose steering rack, there is an accurate turn...

Vectra 1.8 club (2004)
Review of Vauxhall Vectra Club 1.8i hatchback by
simon5800
Advantages: fast, comfortable, reliable
Disadvantages: hard to park
...to be good and has plenty off pull.
On a long trip recently i sat there comfortabley for 4 hours and cruise control makes the driving easy too. worked out it came out at 42 MPG on the motorway, and driving around town i manage 37-38 MPG so its not too bad.
I find handling to be good at any speed and always feel in control. you get a lot of things as standerd which you dont get on lower range cars from vauxhall and other companys such as cruise control and it is great for long trips.
Acceleration is good in it, just ashame it didnt come with traction control on the 1.8 as on slippy surfaces with a fair bit of revs the wheels spin quite a bit but under normal conditions its fine.
I feel very safe in the car as i have seen what it is like and how well it stands up in accidents. it comes with 6 airbags so should be well protected...

Vauxhall Vectra Arctic 1.8 16V
Review of Vauxhall Vectra Arctic (Special Edition) by
markybaby76
Advantages: Cheap Secondhand, Alot for the money
Disadvantages: Short cam belt interval, Rear suspension bushes prone to wear
...I have recently purchased one of these cars on Ebay. Mine is a '99 T reg and it has covered 1000,000 miles but still runs sweet as a nut. The engine fitted to mine is a 1.8 Ecotec which for me is plenty powerfull enough and is very economical. There doesent appear to be anything mgour wrong with it and I got it for a bargain £600. The driving possition is excellent and the equipment is quite generous for a mid range model. It has alloy wheels as standard, electric windows, traffic master, adjustable steering whell and air conditioning. Overall I am very happy with this car. The only thing with Vectra's of any model upto 2002 is that the cam belt interval is quite short at 40,000k but aslong as you stick to this scedule then you wont get many problems. Also the rear suspension rose buhes tend to wear causing a knocking sound from the back...

Vauxhall reliability, performance, a pleasure.
Review of Vauxhall Vectra Club 1.8i hatchback by
RayMan_UK
Advantages: Comfort, security, responsive, sleek, road hugging, spacious, economical, great visibility, ABS brakes, power steering, alloys.
Disadvantages: Very few found over three years, mostly normal wear & tear.
...I have had the pleasure of driving the Vauxhall Vectra 1.8i Club daily over three years (a total of 12,000 miles approximately). When I first jumped into the drivers seat, I immediately felt right at home. The seats were firm, nicely adjustable (drivers seat adjusts for height also). The steering wheel is adjustable (up/down only). Everything is within easy reach. The control panel, heating, air conditioning (standard on the Club), etc. all clearly marked.
The three years previously, I had been driving a Vauxhall Astra. Well the Vectra didn't "feel" so different to the extent that I would have to remember where everything was, or the fact it is a bigger car. But to drive it is another matter. It is so very easy to drive, great all round vision, power steering, nice turning circle also, it holds the road like it is on rails...

My beautiful lady - Vauxhall Vectra 2004
Review of Vauxhall Vectra Design 1.8i 16v 5dr by
TheJudge1979
Advantages: A very smooth cruiser, comfortable and roomy
Disadvantages: Quite a big car, Need to be careful not losing little things from the car
...My father always had American comfortable and smooth cars and as soon I tested my Vauxhall Vectra, it was just as a smooth and more. It was just all I wanted, a smooth, attractive, powerful and a large collections of functionalities. I highly recommend the car. The price was more than worth the car.
I have had my Vectra 2004 Design since November last year and I just love it. It's a very attractive, powerful, comfortable, roomy, a smooth cruiser as I do a lot of motorway and it has a lot of fantastic functionalities of which I keep discovering every now and then. I recently discovered that you can set the sound volume so the volume goes up and down as required keeping up with the outside noises. Fantastic!
Also, a delight to drive invites confidence in its road holding, accelerating and stopping power, which is fully justified...

Owning a Vauxhall Vectra,
Review of Vauxhall Vectra GLS 2.0 by
dennyjames
Advantages: Safe, comfortable large family car. Quite economical.
Disadvantages: Gearboxes can suffer on earlier models.
...engine and not a lot less from the more powerful 2 Litre. Insurance is reasonable for the 1.8 litre models but the 2 Litre models are a bit costly as they are rated at insurance group 12. All Vectras offer a nice smooth drive, quiet engine and stress free motorway driving.
When looking for a large family saloon/hatchback car, you should put a Vectra on your shortlist for sure.
I hope you enjoy owning a Vauxhall Vectra as much as I have....

The Vectra That Thinks It's An Omega.
Review of Vauxhall Vectra SXi 2.2i New 2002 Model 5 Door Hatchback by
RayMan_UK
Advantages: Superb Ride, Responsive Powerful Engine, ABS, Power Steering, Added Safety Features, Security Alarm, Plus More.
Disadvantages: New Technology Causes Some Awkwardness.
...sceptical on some claims, I was influenced it was the choice for replacing our Vectra Club 1.8i. (See my opinion on CiAO). Would it be as reliable? Better? After driving over 2000 miles in it so far, it has exceeded all my expectations. My affection for it has grown considerably.
§~§~§~§~§~§~§~§
Lucky Me! Why I Chose Our SeXi Vauxhall.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remembering my review readings, choosing another 1.8i engine wouldn’t be suitable. The all-new chassis / wheelbase / body dimensions, are greatly increased. Therefore, it is heavier, so I believe the 1.8i would be underpowered, especially if the car is fully laden. The 2.2i 16v ECOTEC-4 aluminium Petrol engine, on paper, not much different to it's equal in the old marque. With a top speed of 134 mph, 0-60 in approximately nine seconds. With pulling power a plenty for towing...
Vauxhall Zafira Elegance 1.8
Review of Vauxhall Zafira Elegance 1.8i by
007addict
Advantages: Roomy, easy to drive and fairly economical
Disadvantages: Horrible blind spot and electrically unreliable
...I have owned my Zafira (elegance 1.8) for coming up to 3 years. It is a V reg. and has been a lovely vehicle to drive, comfortable and easy to get passengers in and out. Children love it due to the height and added visibility for them. The 7 seats have been a godsend at times, but having to remove the boot cover bar each time and store it at home can be a pain in the proverbial. The boot space with 5 seats is very spacious, but minimal with 7.
I do have a huge concern with the visibility from the windscreen ,on each side, due to the roof support blocking a significant amount at certain times, e.g turning out from a junction. I've only had one near miss (that was one to many for my liking) and the experience taught me to be even more vigilant when checking the coast is clear. This is a common complaint from others I know who...
Vectra Sxi - Good All round Sporty Vehicle
Review of Vauxhall Vectra SRi 1.8i hatchback by
andy17898
Advantages: all of the things i have said, the car itself is an advantage
Disadvantages: engine management light faults.
...I drove a few of these whilst looking for my new car, i settled on a new vectra c, 1,8 SXi, however i really loved the feeling these gave, a very raw, typical car feeling, in all of them the engine just sat and purred.
Speed, for an 1800 engine, was surprisingly good, Acceleration was quick, and the top speed seemed fine, and seemed to get there quicly too.
As for comfort, nice, very raw, looks like a car, no added things you dont need, confy seats, nice heating system and a well lit dash board, gave a comfortable stylish ride.
As for the outside of the car, looks gorgeous, i have aloways loved the vectras, especially the sri and sxi's. Really sporty and stylish car for all ages.
As for downsides? not really aware of any from what i have seen, I am only aware of a common fault with the engine management lights. But i believe...
