...swathes of carpet, you do also get attachments for use on stairs and indeed on upholstery too. These essentially use the same hose, but the heads differ. For stairs and any other carpet too small to pass the Vax over as per normal, you have a head which dispenses cleaner, scrubs the carpet with what I assume is a turbine-driven affair using the vacuum power itself and then sucks the grime away...

...as a good light weight and space saving cleaner as the front part comes off. The quarter that we have just moved into, had the smell of dog in it and the carpet smelt really baddly of dog, it took me 5 washes to get most of the dirt and smell out, but the vax got there in the end....
