Vax a Heavy Cleaner

Advantages: very long lead, and a big water tank
Disadvantages: heavy and bulky

...Having a 3 year old, plus 2 cats who love to leave us presents in the living room my carpet really needed a good clean. I decided to borrow my brothers Vax cleaner as it is an upright and my old vax was in the shed and I didn`t want to have to dig it out. He gave me the basic instructions on how to use it but had lost the manual so I had to figure most of it out myself! How did I clean my carpet? Basically I filled up the clean water tank with hot water,this is quite a big tank and sits in the upright part of the vax. ...I invested in new cream carpet throughout my lounge, meant to be non-stainable, what a mistake, with two kids, a dog and two cats my cream carpet was looking more brown then its original colour. Anyway went to B& Q saw this Vax V-022 for sale for £79.99, looked good, then saw an even better deal for £99.99 I could get the cleaner, a rechargeable dustbuster and a upright 1400w hoover, so went for the latter. Back to the cleaner itself which I am reviewing, but thought I should tell you about the deal as well as its brill. ...I bought a vax carpet cleaner about 8 months ago, when my little boy started running around the house with food, and also little accidents when his nappy was not on, due to the fact I live in army quarters I thought I'd better get one instead of paying somebody to come in and clean my carpets everytime we moved. I chose the lightweight vax cleaner due to space, and have be pleasantly surprised with it, it cleans the carpets lovely, it does make a difference if you follow the instructions such as go slowly and only do a small amount at a time. The only part I was disappointed with was the upholstery hose, that did not seem to clean our sofa very well, but I do have a cream sofa and I think it need a professional clean first, before I can keep on top of it with the vax. I would recommend this as a good light weight and space saving...

Vax not so rapide!

Advantages: Will clean very light fresh stains.
Disadvantages: Sounds like the Red Arrow display team is giving a show in your front room.

...I recently purchased the Vax Mach Air as it was reduced from £180 to £129 to replace my existing Vax Cleaner First Impressions were surprise that the unit could be so light and still clean as well as it does. The suction is extremely powerful and makes shortwork of cleaning up our dog Murphy's hair. The Mach Air cleans up the hair tumbleweeds that appear daily on our laminte flooring, and gets rid of the hair from the carpets and the deep pile rug the dog uses as his day bed. ...I am sure that most of you are familiar with the bright orange, get your sunglasses out, Vax carpet cleaning system. I am now on my second one having bought my first when they were the state of the art vacuum cleaner and launched into the shops some twenty years ago. Now, don?t get me wrong, I am not an obsessive cleaner, but we currently own three hoovers. Interestingly, none of them are actually made by Hoover! When we moved here my Vax gave up the ghost after years of sterling service. It was with a sense of sadness that I hurled it into the huge skip at the council tip! I then bought a Dyson upright cleaner. I do generally prefer an upright cleaner- much easier on the old back! The Dyson has been, for the most part great. VAX Steamer - no chance!

Advantages: Well, it broke after using it once, so NONE.
Disadvantages: Breaks. No cord storage. No visible water level. Tool storage too small.

...it heat up, but still no joy - no steam will come out. To clarify, both the lights are on (although of course the heat light turned off after 10 mins as the tank had heated up fully); the tank is full; the equipment is clean; the steam button is turned to maximum; the child safety button is turned to off. I have tried all the attachments, and none of them work. Has anyone else had this experience? The VAX website offers no help at all, and their care line closes at 5pm, and is only open Mon-Fri, not very useful for full-time workers. I doubt I will get a reply this century if I email. What a waste of £60!...

Having found other peoples reviews helpful I thought that I could add my experiences of the cleaner to help other potential purchasers make an informed choice.
