Vax U91-P3: A Simple but Efficient Cleaner

Advantages: A great cleaner with no unwanted frills.
Disadvantages: None so far.

...Due to constant problems with a recently purchased Hoover vacuum cleaner, we decided to forget it and opt for a Vax Power 3 ? a small and light vacuum cleaner without any of the bells and whistles that seemed to be on most other more expensive makes. This machine is easy and light to use for my wife who suffers from arthritis and when I think carefully about vacuum cleaners, I have to ask myself who uses these extra funny attachments like turbo brushes as I have never found that they work at all. In fact, I have found that standard non-moving attachments do a much better job. We owned one of those orange Vax Aqua Vacs back in the 1980s (remember them?) and even now it is still working as well as ever but we prefer an upright vac. I keep the Aqua Vac in the garage to clean my car with ? it is great for sucking up water too. So...

Vax 6130

Advantages: It cleans well, good suction
Disadvantages: doesn't sit on the stairs! It has bags

There is the usual range of onboard tools for vacuuming- a nozzle (crevice tool) a soft brush, etc. These are very useful for intricate jobs. On my original Vax the tools used to get wedged on to the wand and it was a dickens of a job to remove them. I therefore used the tools with trepidation. I need not have worried; they seem to have ironed out that little problem. So, what about washing carpets? Nice and easy! You remove the dust bag and add the extra tank for holding the clean water. The tank is then filled with a capful of special 3-in-1 shampoo, any make will do. Top it up to the maximum mark with warm water. The Power of 3 compells you!

Advantages: Works the whole body, fun, well instructed,
Disadvantages: Only if you don't like Davina, legs section is HARD!

...In my recent quest to lose weight and get fitter I've become something of a workout DVD addict! I've now worked my way through all of Davina's output, sampled Charlie Brooks and now moving onto Nell McAndrew (only for the brave!) But Davina's are so far my favourite, with her Super Body Workout topping my list, but the Power of 3 coming a close second. The Power of 3 was Davina's first DVD and is just over an hour long, moving through 3 different sections - legs, arms, and abs. It uses interval training to get the heart rate up before performing different exercises intended to tone up the muscles and lose the flab. If you've used the Super Sculpt on Super Body you'll be familiar with interval training and for me, this is a great way to work out as I hate being too out of breath. ...The Vax Mach Air is a compact, lightweight vacuum cleaner, which makes it easy to use and to store. The suction of this machine is amazing, it left my carpets looking brighter and dealt with pet hair (two cats one long and one short hair) with no problems. The brushes can be raised to clean wooden floors, but it is so powerful it clings to lino and will not move. Bright orange controls with symbols on are easy to locate and use, once apart further instructions are on the machine so no need to scrabble around looking for the user guide. Since our first Vax, some 15 years ago the accessories have been improved and are less liable to break. All in all I'm happy with the way it is put together. Assembly Drawbacks Removing the vacuum cleaning head can be hard, especially if it hasn't been taken off for a while. I recommend smearing the inside of the joint with a tiny amount of Vaseline. Noise level = Most vacuum cleaners are noisy, this one is a little louder than most but compensates by being a little more powerful and getting on with the job, so you don't have to run it for as long. Clean you carpets the upright way

...I recently wrote a review regarding a rather tragic vacuum cleaner, by those wanna-be boffins at Hoover, which I had the misfortune of actually owning, and, after to many months of pure hell which is hovering the carpets, I decided enough was enough and ?accidentally? broke the small red spawn of the devil, dropping it down the stairs, (with the help of my right foot). Anyway, I had borrowed a friends vacuum cleaner previously and was quite impressed with it, even though I had vowed never to use uprights again, but when I found the same cleaner at such a bargain price I decided to go against my vows and purchase the rather colourful looking Vax U91-P3 power 3. ...The following is based on my own experience. I bought a Vax U91-P2 Power2 Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner end of August 2009. It is now in the back of my cupboard collecting dust. No pun intended!!! When I first used the product, it was good - couldn't fault it. However, when I tried to use it the second time, it wouldn't pick up dust. Off I went to Curries to complain about the problem. They carried out a basic floor test, ie tried to clean a small floor area in the store to see what the fault was. After the basic test, they could see that the cleaner was not picking up dust. They said the filter was blocked hence no pick up and that the filter needed cleaning. I said, ?to save me driving all the way home, can I purchase a spare filter in store to replace the one inside the cleaner ? that way you can test it again...

Vax a Heavy Cleaner
