...I am sure that most of you are familiar with the bright orange, get your sunglasses out, Vax carpet cleaning system. I am now on my second one having bought my first when they were the state of the art vacuum cleaner and launched into the shops some twenty years ago. Now, don?t get me wrong, I am not an obsessive cleaner, but we currently own three hoovers. Interestingly, none of them are actually made by Hoover! When we moved here my Vax gave up the ghost after years of sterling service. It was with a sense of sadness that I hurled it into the huge skip at the council tip! I then bought a Dyson upright cleaner. I do generally prefer an upright cleaner- much easier on the old back! The Dyson has been, for the most part great. Advantages: Beautiful scenery
Disadvantages: Traffic noise

Once you have escaped the urban sprawl of Naples the winding coast road gives you some beautiful views of the Gulf of Naples on your right whilst all the time the imposing height of Vesuvius is receding behind you. Sorrento is often regarded at the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. It is a bustling unashamedly tourist dominated Italian town with a population of 20,000 people which is swelled to bursting point in the summer months. Advantages: Simple to use, inexpensive, great results

I was searching for a new replacement upright vacuum cleaner but after stumbling across the Vax 6131 on special offer I decided a wet and dry vacuum that also shampoos carpets would be really handy, especially with a dog and cat in the house! Anyone who has lived in such a property will tell you that dust and cobwebs are an occupational hazard. ...Sorrento, on the west coast of Italy, south of Naples, is an ideal holiday spot, whether you want to lie on the beach all day or get out and about soaking up the local culture. The scenery is absolutely stunning from the volcanic black sand of the beaches to the craggy cliffs overlooking the bay. In the height of Summer the temperature is pretty uncomfortable for most Brits, and the heat is quite draining even in September when I visited. The average temperature was around 30C (it had been over 40C in July), so sun screen, hat, and plenty of water to drink are essential items for a day by the sea, or wandering through the town. We did get one day of rain, which coincided with the great blackout of 2003 when the power was off in all of Italy and many other parts of Europe. Vax a Heavy Cleaner

Advantages: very long lead, and a big water tank

...Having a 3 year old, plus 2 cats who love to leave us presents in the living room my carpet really needed a good clean. I decided to borrow my brothers Vax cleaner as it is an upright and my old vax was in the shed and I didn`t want to have to dig it out. He gave me the basic instructions on how to use it but had lost the manual so I had to figure most of it out myself! How did I clean my carpet? Basically I filled up the clean water tank with hot water,this is quite a big tank and sits in the upright part of the vax. Arriving at Naples Airport we took the regular bus service to Sorrento as far as St. Agnello which is once stop before Sorrento itself. The journey time should be one hour and the single fare was 10.0?. Having poured over many reviews of hotels in Sorrento area we chose the Alpha and found it to be the Alpha and Omega of Hotels. We couldn?t have asked for anything better; from the moment we walked through the front door we could see that we were going to like it.
