Vax 6130

Advantages: It cleans well, good suction
Disadvantages: doesn't sit on the stairs! It has bags

...I am sure that most of you are familiar with the bright orange, get your sunglasses out, Vax carpet cleaning system. I am now on my second one having bought my first when they were the state of the art vacuum cleaner and launched into the shops some twenty years ago. Now, don?t get me wrong, I am not an obsessive cleaner, but we currently own three hoovers. Interestingly, none of them are actually made by Hoover! When we moved here my Vax gave up the ghost after years of sterling service. It was with a sense of sadness that I hurled it into the huge skip at the council tip! Vax a Heavy Cleaner

Advantages: very long lead, and a big water tank
Disadvantages: heavy and bulky

...comes with a hose and tools that can be used on the stairs and sofa but I did not use the tools so cannot comment on them. What do I think? This is a very heavy machine it weighs 11.4kg, I found it very hard to move back and forward and by the time I had finished the carpet my back was aching. The other thing with this vax is it is very noisy, a lot nosier than my old vax cleaner or even my current vacuum. My cats hated the noise and made a quick exit through the cat flap! It cost me £4 for the vax solution which I purchased in Tesco`s, I didn`t use much of the solution so this will come in handy in the future. Did the vax get my carpet clean? Yes it did and I can actually see the pattern in the carpet! I washed the carpet this morning and the carpet was wet, it is now nearly dry which I am really pleased about...

Since our first Vax, some 15 years ago the accessories have been improved and are less liable to break. All in all I'm happy with the way it is put together. Assembly Drawbacks Removing the vacuum cleaning head can be hard, especially if it hasn't been taken off for a while. I recommend smearing the inside of the joint with a tiny amount of Vaseline. Noise level = Most vacuum cleaners are noisy, this one is a little louder than most but compensates by being a little more powerful and getting on with the job, so you don't have to run it for as long. Advantages: Will clean very light fresh stains.

I was expecting it to bring my beige carpet back to life and I thought it would be a lot easier than getting on my hands and knees scrubbing. ...Vax Astrata Vacuum Cleaner After a battling for 18 months with a bagged upright Hoover vacuum cleaner, that my Mum had given me, I decided it was time for something a bit more modern. I live in a 3 bed semi with my partner and 2 cats so I needed something substantial but nothing overly flash! VAX V-022 CARPET CLEANER

Advantages: Brilliant Cleaner
Disadvantages: None except no cable rewind

...the dirty water. (Very easy to remove by the way). The idea is to release the handle and hoover in a straight line releasing the carpet shampoo, then do a reverse action releasing the handle and go back over what you have shampooed therefore removing the dirty water, easy eh. And yes it is easy, and does it work, brilliantly. I have cleaned my front room carpet as easy as hoovering and it is spotless, even a nasty stain on my landing was removed with no effort even though I had tried and tested numerous shamppos on it. The Vax comes with a bottle of AAA Carpet Shampoo (which they advise to use all the time) which stands for Anti Allergan Additive. The bottle itself comes in 750ml and has plenty to clean numerous carpets. It is low foaming and has no visible odour so does'nt stink the place out. The shampoo to replace costs...
