Digital radio for the car.
Advantages: Cheap upgrade.
Disadvantages: A bit fiddly to install.
...Great product but fitting it took a bit of figuring out. Managed it in the end though. I recommend it as it allows you to keep your existing in car stereo and add the additional functions of digital radio. It is well worth upgrding to as the FM radios are going to be phased out shortly.
To buy one search on either ebay or amazon, they vary in price form around the £40 mark up to around £200.
If you arent competent to fit it yourself it can cost about £50 fitting charge.
It is a silver grey colour and should fit in with the interiors of most cars.
I recommend you buy the pouch to store the head unit to prevent it scratching when you leave the vehicle.
Thoroughly recommended and cheaper than buying a complete new digital stereo....

VDO HSP 6931 speakers
Advantages: phat bass!
Disadvantages: speakers are quite deep, so be sure to check your install depth available
...I have a set of these speakers that I run along with a set of VDO 6" splits. I've tried numerous big name brands of speakers (Sony, Pioneer, Kenwoord, JVC), and these VDOs out-do all of them! The speakers provide it all, very clear treble and mid range sound, bit more importantly they have fantastic base. I found that with a full set of VDO speakers (6x9's in the rear plus the 6" splits in the front) running through a 4 channel amp I did not even need a sub.
Just be sure to get the HSP range (as opposed to the SSP's). The HSPs have the titanium finished cone and the full butyl rubber surround (this is an important part of these speakers performance). I actually came across this opportunity to write a review as I was scouring the net trying to find a set for my girlfriend, who now wants to kit out her Hyundai Tiburon with VDO speakers...

Sony CDX-GT620U CD Radio MP3 USB Aux Car Stereo
Advantages: Great Design, Easy to use, good sound quality
Disadvantages: usb socket flap looks a bit flimbsy
...feature I haven't used yet is the back light colour can change from blue to green, I preferred the blue as my car is blue but if I get a geen car then I might change.
The only feature I was hoping for was bluetoothe connectivity which alot of new cd radios over £100 will have but I found all the Sony bluetooth head units to be rather ugly.
Price wise this model should cost around £100 which is a great price for all the features.
Finally the output is great - 4 x 52 watts which means with some good speakers you won't need an amp in your car unless you want to give yourself some serious headaches.
The only downside so far includes the usb socket which is on the front of the facia but behind a plastic lip on the right hand side of the unit. This lip is held on by 2 small plastic connections which don't look very secure.
I would...

Radio 1's Live Lounge C.D! Worth the wait?
Advantages: Fun covers you perhaps wouldn't expect.
Disadvantages: I can't think of any
...voice singing the famous lyrics.
Along with these covers there are brilliant live versions of the artist's own songs, Basment Jaxx' chilled out Romeo, Queen's of The Stoneage do a fantastic acoustic version of no-one knows with brilliant cockiness during 'the hard part'.
A simply wonderful C.D. to own which many Radio 1 listeners snapped up as soon as it hit the stores. It also has a personal feel to it, like you're in the room with the artists, sharing their jokes and giggling along with them.
If you like popular music this is definately a CD for your christmas lists.
CD Listing:
CD1
Foo Fighters - DOA
Arctic Monkeys - Love Machine
Snow Patrol - Run
The Kooks - Crazy
Razorlight - Golden Touch
Corinne Bailey Rae - Munich
The Automatic - Goldidgger
Editors - All Sparks

JVC Car CD Stereo/Radio.
Advantages: Works well, simple but effective,
Disadvantages: If you want bluetooth etc then looks elsehwhere,
...When my old car failed it's MOT and had to be scrapped, there was only one thing I kept. This CD Stereo / Radio.
This unit has done me proud of the few years I've had it. It hasn't put a foot wrong and I believe it will continue to do so. The radio receives lots of stations, and projects them in clear and loud sound. Their is balance, fade, treble, and base controls, as well as a sound function that allows you to choose pop or soft for example, depending on your personal preference. The 18 FM presets should be enough for anyone, and are easy to setup and use.
The CD player has Random, and Repeat functions which I know not all do. The most used button I discovered was the mute button, simple but very useful when someone is trying to speak to you. The control unit detaches for safe keeping too.
There are more...

Upgrade your car stereo to DAB.
Advantages: Cheap upgrade.
Disadvantages: Can be fiddly to install.
...I recently bought one of these to be able to listen to digiatl radio in my car especially planet rock.
It is a relatively easy device to fit if you are fairly confident with working with vehicle electrics. The instructions are helpful though and there is further information available on the revo website (www.revo.co.uk). If you still are unable to install it for just under £50 a professional car stereo installer can fit it for you.
It can be installed one of 2 ways, the first way is via the plugs sockets in the back of your stereo head unit these are called RCA sockets but not all have these. The second way and the way i installed mine was via the FM modulator. This makes use of a redundant FM station and transmits the signal through there.
They originally retailed for the £200 mark but can now be purchased for under £100. Hunt around...

Sony CDX-MP40 CD Radio MP3 Car Stereo
Advantages: Looks Great, Sounds Great and plays MP3s
Disadvantages: None
...Stylish and sleek MP3 CD Radio Head unit. Looks great in your car and sound quality is excellent. I have owned this Head unit for 4 years and it has lasted me really well.
First of all the Radio has plenty of presets that can be used to store all your favourite stations quickly and easily. It benefits from FM, MWand LW radio which I use for listening to the cricket.
The CD player is excellent too, no problems, doesn't skip and you can play CD-R, CD-RW and your MP3 Discs which is great for all your downloaded music.
It comes with a remote which I have always found a bit strange for a car stereo... consequently I have never used it but I'm sure it is very useful if you need that kind of thing for a drive by party or something.
Only downside is that the volume down button has become difficult to press and the unit sometimes...

Decent Car Radio
Advantages: Easy to use, good features, cheap
Disadvantages: Manual could be better written
...* My story *
I?ve been meaning to get a new car radio since I bought the car last September. The old one was very basic, just a radio with a cassette player. A few weeks ago, after a loud pop sound from the speakers, the radio suddenly stopped. I tried various things, including checking the ariel and even the fuse ? no joy ? so off to Halfords I went.
I made a 'must-have' list and a 'nice-to-have' list in my head. Most people do a little research and write down what they want but not me. After all, it?s just a radio for the car, isn?t it?
Must-haves are: Radio (obvious really but it?s a good start), CD (and why not), and not forgetting the most important item: cheap (under £100).
Nice-to-haves are: MP3, radio/cd text, DVD player (no wait, scrub that, that?s for next time), USB (for listening to MP3 without having to write to...

An amazing car seat
Advantages: safe, cosy
Disadvantages: none
...Where to buy:
This car seat is readily available. You can buy it from all the shops you'd expect to be able to buy them from including Halfords, mothercare, john lewis', toys r us etc.
What do they cost:
prices vary depending up on offers and stores but usually this car seat retails at £100.
How do they attach?
This car seat is different to many of the others on the market. It clips onto a base which is attached to your car, This makes it easy to get the car seat in and out of the car without waking up the baby. The car seat base is attached by the seat belt securing it in place and a metal leg which keeps it stable.
Are they comfortable?
This car seat is very padded and so a nice cosy seat for your baby. It comes with a head hugger which makes it cosy and safe for a newborn. This headhugger can be removed revealing much...

great car seat
Advantages: see rview
Disadvantages: expense, heavy
...I bought this when I had my baby as it was apparently the best on the market and I really can't find fault with it at all it has been the most reliable of our baby products and can't rate it highly enough.
This car seat is different from others as it is suitable for up to 9 months whilst the majority of others are just up to 6 months.
The seat is well padded and has a 'head hugger' so it is safer for newborns. This headhugger can then be removed once your baby is big enough. The straps also can be adjusted once your baby grows so that it is still safe and comfortable.
The straps are easy to use- at first they were fiddly but once you have the hang of them then you know what you're doing they're easy! once you have strapped your baby in you then pull on the straps to make them tight so that your baby is safetly in place...
