A Superb Gamble in Vegas! The Paris Hotel!

Advantages: Something new to explore..you can be in Paris and Las Vegas at the same time!
Disadvantages: A bit pricy for some, you need more than two weeks to see everything!

Why Vegas Sucks

Advantages: Good food, an experience
Disadvantages: Depressing, desert heat

...Why is there such hype surrounding Las Vegas? I don't see the attraction myself. Having stayed there in the summer of 2003, I hope to never return. Here's why. Vegas is in its own little bubble. It's a heaven for consumerism, obesity, greed, and tack. First of all, the heat overwhelmed me. It made it impossible to go outside for any longer than a few minutes at a time. The air is thick, heavy with the desert heat. It makes people there very lazy, as the whole system is set up so you don't have to walk far. There is a mini train in Vegas that takes people only around 100 metres. Large fans line the sidewalks to blast passers by with freezing cold air. Sunglasses are an absolute necessity, without them you will be squinting constantly (day and night!) I didn't hate everything about the city. I'll get the positives out...

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

Advantages: A holiday you will never forget
Disadvantages: Too much to do, too little time....

...We decided to have one of those 'blow-out' holidays for 2004 and the Boyf had his heart set on Vegas. I wasn't too sure so we bought a few guide books that completely changed my mind. Boyf searched the internet for the best hotel casinos and after a while booked us into a 'Love Tub' suite at the Imperial Palace for a week. Quite perturbed at the name, I insisted we check out the website www.imperialpalace.com and we were able to see a picture of the room and it didn't look a sleazy as the name suggested (phew!). Time flew and before we knew it, we were on an 11hr flight going to Vegas. We flew with Virgin Airways in Economy and through the Boyf's many connections, managed to get return flights for £320 each which was quite a bargain. ...Ok so it's been some time since my last travel review, the commitments of university have been quite high during my final year. However, with some spare time on my hands before I start my final semester I thought id finally write a review about my experience in Viva Las Vegas. Those of you who read my previous article would note that I started my trip in Chicago, this review picks up from their as my next stop was Vegas, were I stayed for 4 nights. To most people Las Vegas is just about gambling, pretty women and Wayne Newton. Totally Vegas!

Advantages: Fantastic location, very reasonable

...My recent holiday took me to many places but my stay in Vegas was unique and one of the most fun parts of the trip. We stayed at the Mirage, right int eh heart of the Las Vegas 'strip' and Im very pleased we chose it. Vegas hotels are completely over the top, thats the whole point of Vegas, and the Mirage in no exception. DIVAS LAS VEGAS BELINDA JONES I have always loved Belinda Jones books, and I have read near enough all of her books: I Love Capri, On The road to Mr Right, The Paradise Room, Out of the Blue, The Love Acadamy, Cafe Tropicana and now Divas Las Vega. The only book of hers I have left to read is The California Club (and the new book which she has coming out soon). I'm not quite sure where Divas Las Vegas comes in the line of her books, it could very possibly be one of, if not, her first book. I loved all of Jones' previous books, they have all been amazing, and have really captured my imagination, this book was very different and I must say, it isn't the best of her work. Plot: Izzy and Jamie have been best friends since they were little girls, for 20 years. And now at 27 they are still as close as ever...

Las Vegas Opulence

Advantages: Luxurious rooms, dining, fountain show, service

...For me only the Bellagio would do once we had decided to visit Las Vegas as the second stop on our honeymoon just over two years ago. The hotel featured in the Oceans' 11 film which I loved and I was particularly looking forward to seeing that famous water fountain show. The hotel is located roughly half way along the main Strip area in Vegas, it has an Italian theme and is beautiful to look at from the outside. It is set back from the street and the front of the building gently curves around "Lake Como". Providing it is not too windy, from 3pm in the afternoon the fountain show runs every fifteen minutes making for excellent photo opportunities and selling lots of postcards. ...If you hear the words ?Las Vegas? what would they conjure up to you? Bright lights? Casinos? Ostentatious hotels? After spending a blissful five days in the city recently I would agree with all of those and more.
