Ripley's Game or Malkovich's finest hour?

Advantages: John Malkovich and Ray Winstone's scenes together.
Disadvantages: Extras on dvd are abit sparse.

On the face of it he (Malkovich) is a benign foreigner, indulging his passion for music and art by buying expensive antiques and paintings, but his past catches up with him when Reeves turns up at his home out of the blue. Reeves makes a proposition to Ripley which will enable him to kill two birds with one stone: make amends with Reeves and get him off his back for good and get revenge on a picture framer from the local village, Jonathan Trevanny who is played by Doughray Scott, and who Ripley overheard insulting him at a party. ...Padova is not the first destination that springs to mind when thinking of Veneto, but a quick scan of the price lists for hotels in the rather damper Venice soon lends it a certain attraction. Yes indeed, Venice was our destination but we were spending just one day there and the hassle of lugging cases around that particular labyrinthian waterworld just to go through the same palaver the next day just made Padova even more attractive. The Best Western Hotel Biri sits just outside the old city of Padova in an area that has been earmarked for development. It's all glass and concrete and tarmac and shopping malls and Macdonalds and...you get the picture. Then turn right and ascend on the Monte dei Cappuccini (a little hill): there you can see an astonishing panorama of the town. You'll need an hour for this walk. ...Apparently tiramisu is italian for ‘pick me up’. Well I certainly picked up two Veneto tiramisu boxes whilst shopping in Sainsburys as an ideal dessert for an evening meal with some friends. Each box costs £2.99 and gives five generous portions. Eaten with some fresh juicy strawberries it made a delightful end to an enjoyable meal. The strawberries cut through the richness of the cream cheese and also added colour to our dishes. As it is such a rich dessert, I would guess that most people will be satisfied with one helping as were my friends. The tiramisu is made in Italy for Sainsburys. Indeed there is a black and white picture of some gondolas on the front. It is packed in a rectangular box measuring 21 x 14 cms and can be found in the chilled cabinet.
