...I was rather fortunate this summer that my work took me to Venezuela for the entire month of July and therefore I got to experience so much that this wonderful and fascinating country has to offer. It is an excellent country to travel around in especially if you are on a budget and its location means that you can experience a wide variety of climates, from the jungles of the Amazon, the cloud forests in the north, chilled out Merida at the foot of the Andes before heading off to climb a mountain and then on to the beaches in the north to chill out and enjoy the sea and sand. margarita island venezuela sun sea and duty free

Advantages: duty free prices, weather, food, people,water,fish,trips

...hope this review helps i am not a writer so excuse any mistakes i would just like to try and give you an idea of what this was like. we travelled november 2004 to this amazing island where we had a fantastic time (made ourselfs) the island of margarita is unbelievable place where the weather hits right up into the high 40s,sometimes abit overpowering but if you are after a deep tan this is the place to be. if you dont know it is a spanish speaking island just off venezuela but most of the people speak quite good english. we went 2 weeks all inclusive stayed at the dunes beach resort which is a large complex the rooms are nice but basic have tv and showers,fridge (couldnt understand why no mini bar as was all inclusive) the hotel had probably the best night entertainment group ive seen not the usual tacky shows you get this was...

The Best Kept Secret of the Caribbean

Advantages: Lack of tourists, amazing scenery and wildlife, friendly people, and good transport.
Disadvantages: You have to be prepared to organise everything yourself, in Spanish! Not for people looking for glitz, glamour or an easy life.

Grasslands, mountains, cities and jungles

Advantages: cheap, beautiful, diverse
Disadvantages: can be dangerous, english is not widely spoken

...Venezuela has to be the most amazingly diverse country i have ever been to, and worry not, it is not the only place i have been. It ranges from the Andes in the West to the Gran Sabana and then onto the dense Jungle in the east. It has the world's tallest waterfall: Angel Falls, (discovered by Jimmy Angel), beautiful Carribean Coast, unique tribal communities and bustling oil rich cities. As i did with my trip lets start where most people do -Caracas. This is a city of to halves, extreme poverty and extreme wealth due to the oil, but the first thing that hit me was the incredible prices. I mean a 3 course meal for £2.50 and people were ripping you off if they were selling fags for 90p. This meant that a daily budget was tiny and in fact hotel rooms in other towns were less than £4.00 a night, so a budget of less than £15 is fine...

Puerto Colombia-beach time, Venezuelan style

Advantages: Relaxing, beautiful
Disadvantages: Not much to do except relax!

...Unlike many places in the world now, the most spectacular part of a trip to the small Venezuelan village of Puerto Colombia is still the journey to reach it. This collection of posadas and the adjoining colonial village of Choroni are situated a mere 2 hour drive from Maracay on the west Caribbean coast of Venezuela yet they seem like they are a truly rural slice of life. The main reason for this is that the journey to the village involves a hair raising ride crossing over a mountain and through the Henri Pittier National Park. Either by bus or by shared taxi, you hurtle through hairpin bends, usually arbitrarily using either side of the road and swinging widely back to the proper side when a vehicle appears coming the other way, up around 2000metres into the clouds and then back down to sea level. Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (PC)

Advantages: Massive world, loads of freedom, interesting plot, fun hijack vehicle minigame
Disadvantages: Difficult and boring side missions, encountered performance issues

...Mercenaries 2 is an open-world action game set in a massive war torn world. A power hungry tyrant messes with Venezuela's oil supply, sparking an invasion that turns the country into a war zone. You are a mercenary and can carry out work for whoever you choose. I enjoyed this game, however I never completed it. To begin with it was fantastic and there is so much freedom you have no idea what to do next. The story line is interesting and varied but as with most games like this the real fun begins when you go on a rampage!! There is nothing quite like grappling up to a helicopter gunship, wrestling its pilot out of the cockpit and then unleashing its firepower on the unsuspecting people below! You must carry out missions for different factions so you can buy more equipment from them and these missions are often tedious, difficult...

.... With there being no 'set' ingredients list, it's not surprising to see that some countries have even gone as far as to ban the stuff. (Quiz enthusiasts, the answers is Venezuela) The British ingredients list goes as followed... Carbonated water, colour (caramel E150d), phosphoric acid, sweeteners (aspartame, acesulfame k), flavourings (including caffeine), acidity regulator (E331) and contains a source of phenyalanine. So, not the most delicious sounding of ingredients, and there's E-numbers in there which will instantly deter some people. But what about the taste? Well, in all honesty, in never will quite match the full taste on regular Coca-Cola. But then again, I can't stand the taste of Diet Coke as it's just elaborate fizzy water with an odd, caramel-like taste so at least here I may have found a pleasant medium. There is a slight...
