Verbatim are no longer word-perfect

Disadvantages: Half of them didn't work

...I have been buying this brand for ages, and was always a big fan. They are more expensive than some other brands, like memorex, but I thought they were worth the extra. They were reliable, burned well (no coasters as people say) and you could always tell by looking at them that they were good. This is the first time I've bought this particular type - with two recording layers they are supposed to offer you almost double the capacity on a single side, so you can get almost 4 hours of DVD -enough for even the most enthusiastic home movie maker! Well that's true, and the one's I got to work, worked fine, but lots didn't work. One you could see when I took it out of the box it was all bubbled on the surface, so I didn't even try to burn that one. Advantages: Excellent to Store data, home video & music files, 4.7gb, 16x speed, just 5 mins to burn

Verbatim DVD+RW 4X never fail

Advantages: reliable, every disc works, long shelf life
Disadvantages: Pricy

...I bought the first batch of Verbatim DVD+RW from Amazon in 2004 and then bought some more in 2006 from DigiUK.com. Reliability They are used as re-writable disc for temporarily storing holiday photos, documents, electronic statements/bills etc until nearly a DVD full --> burn into DVD+/-R disc. Also, they are temporary recording of TV programmes using my DVD recorder. Most of them are used regularly since 2004. Almost 5 years on none of them shows any sign of failure. Everything is still retrievable e.g. one directory of my photos taken back in Dec 2004 and stored in a pair of them (double backup) are still okay. I can copy all the photos to my PC and still can see them (both discs tried to make sure). Therefore these discs can last for more than 4 years from the date of purchase, with the date of manufacture well before...

Verbatim, Very Good, Or Very Slow?

Advantages: They can copy up to 120 minutes, or 4.7 GB worth of data
Disadvantages: They are very slow and are a long process to copy onto the disk

...When I first got my camcorder in December, I needed something for my home movies and such like to be copied onto, so like any girl and the DVD choices, I picked up the first box I saw, without actually knowing what it meant. These DVD +R are okay, but could be a lot better. They come with the DVD cases and they look okay, very plain, but would be easy to cover up. I bought mine in a pack of ten, but there was also a pack of 5 there as well. This way, buying the pack of ten would make it easier for me if I needed more in the future. All that space and nothing to do with it!

Advantages: Twice as much space
Disadvantages: Five times as expensive (doesn't add up) and reaaaallly slow

...Most people familiar with computers know that Verbatim are pretty much it when it comes to manufacture and distribution. I use their discs in particular for backing up and moving around my music collection, which is fairly big. I usually use the standard 4.7Gb discs for this and will probably continue to be so for reasons you will find out. At first glance the 8.6Gb DL (meaning Dual Layer) discs have one big advantage: You guessed it, the size. So here's the main considerations and issues to think about before buying them. Not just an ordinary DVD

Advantages: They are most impressive to look at

...Well I just browsed the net looking for a product such as this to use as the media to store the fantastic movies I have created with Pinnacle Studio 9. ( Previously reviewed ) There is of course the option to create your own cover for your creation, but as you will discover this option works out cheaper and might even be superior. After browsing I was pleased to find that once again I had made a real saving, I had purchased my 3 pack of Verbatim Digital Movie DVD's for £1 in Poundland. Most online retailers were offering the DVD's for between £3.79 and £5.03 so if I had decided I needed more the maths works out that I could have in fact purchased 9 DVD's for my £3.00 instead of 3 and had an extra 79p to boot. Verbatims that won't let you down!

Advantages: Long-life, considerable storage size.
Disadvantages: Not compatible with some os and burners.

Well, the overall from my own experience is good, but not excellent because yet verbatim might be nor compatible with some CDRW+/DVD reader, the burning process might tragically fail. It's not to be compared with the two innovations giant both of SONY or Phillips, but again, it's something, I'd trust. This pack has 50 DVD (DVD+R). Fair enough to store your media files. These Verbatims DVD+R offer 4.7GB or 120 Minutes of write-once storage capacity, superior recording quality, and compatibility with 1X to 16X DVD+R writers ! You want to make DVD's? You probably want this!

Advantages: Branded, 4.7Gb capacity, limited lifetime warranty, Cd case included, printable surface
Disadvantages: DVD recorder is a requirement!!!

...Its very difficult to do a review on something as mundane as blank DVD's, but I shall elaborate my opinion. Firstly, I bought these purely because they are branded DVD's. I have had trouble in the past with cheaper generic CDs and DVDs therefore I always feel the need to buy branded and Verbatim are one of those I trust. Secondly, I bought this because they come with a case. I prefer to buy DVDs with cases because its easier to store and access than keeping them on a spindle of a cd case. It also has a printable surface which allows you to create covers for your DVD. This isnt a dual layer DVD which means that it can't hold as much as others but at holding 4.7Gb, it is wholly adequate for making videos, backing up music / files and backup your PC startup data as is the case with many computers etc. It has x16 max. write speed...

Avert IBM - buy VerBatIM

Advantages: Reliable,fast write speed,printable,good brand
Disadvantages: None yet

...shrink-wrapped in plastic, and those useful easy open tags are included - which sometimes make it easier to break into them - except when you are in a hurry. The boxes themselves seem to be sturdy enough, not cheap and easily breakable. As well as being a quality CDR, the Verbatim DataLifePlus product I'm using has a white printable surface. After a recent acquistion of an Epson R300 printer, capable of direct CD/DVD printing, I was longing to try this out. Epson actually recommend this product for use with the R300, so I was hoping for trouble free operation. Glad to say, they work beautifully together - great colour reproduction on the disk, sharp images, no smearing, smudging or blurring - perfectly aligned, what more could I ask for? To create those professional looking discs

Advantages: Durable, reliable, low failure rate, ability to etch on a label
Disadvantages: A bit slower than some discs

Each disc can store up to 4.7 GB of data, which equates to roughly 2 hours of film, which I consider to be more than enough for a home movie since I find people tend to get bored after an hour or so. One of the best features of the verbatim is the light scribe facility. For those of you that are unaware a light scribe facility enables you to print an iridescent label directly on the face of the disc meaning no more sticky labels (that tend to peel off) or scribbling with a marker pen.
