A new version of the U3 software has been released BUT the version on the stick isn't Vista friendly although you can go to Verbatim's website to get the new version which involves a slightly scary backup/update/restore process. The initial lack of U3 on Vista also stops you being able to use the password feature until you upgrade it. Apart from that, it works well. It's fast for a USB stick and is available in different sizes up to 4Gb so can carry a good chunk of your data, photos or whatever. ...My current USB drive is old & slow and packs a humungous 128Mb so I figured it was time to upgrade. I chose the Verbatim because the price premium was small over a no-name equivelent with the 2Gb version clocking in at just £14.99. The device comes in a nice looking display package which contains the USB stick itself plus a nice black lanyard for hanging it around your neck, assuming you like wearing USB sticks. The package is the sort that usually results in blood loss when you crack it open so use scissors and take your time. If there is an established technique for getting in to these tough platic bubble packs, I'm not aware of it! In the flesh it's a nice looking thing in matt silver with a chrome edging. I bought a pack of 10 of these when I was at school and they stood up to a lot of use and abuse. ...I can remember only a few years ago, buying one of my first computer games. It came on 5 floppy disks and totalled a whopping 6.4MB of data. It is truly amazing how technology moves on so quickly and this small device shows that very clearly. ...Verbatim is possibly one of the top Recordable and Portable media suppliers that i've ever come accross. Although some products mas seem a little pricey I can pretty much tell you that it's probably worth it, of course that will depend on what you are using the dvd for. Verbatim disks are very high quality so i wouldnt suggest that you buy this simply for storing your extra files, music or videos. They are more expensive than the rest for a reason. As far as i know they are also usually by professionals in industries that require DVD use, such as music composers and photographers. If you are planing to buy this product then i suggest that you think carefully what it's going to be used for. ...It seems like everyone is downloading music, swapping files, backing up their files to CDRs, or making their own compilation CDs on their computers these days. A quick visit to your local PC Store and you'll see row after row of blank CDs, some expensive, some cheap. Some in boxes, some on spindles. I was always of the opinion that they were all very much the same, that is until I tried Verbatim ones. Like many people, I was content buying 50 unbranded CDRs at a go on spindles. I just accepted that you'd loose about 5 or 6 per 50 to write errors, or that they wouldn't last much longer than about a year. One day I was in Staples looking around when I saw a special offer: 25 CDRs £9.99. Not extraordinarily cheap by today's mail order standards. ...Well I just browsed the net looking for a product such as this to use as the media to store the fantastic movies I have created with Pinnacle Studio 9. ( Previously reviewed ) There is of course the option to create your own cover for your creation, but as you will discover this option works out cheaper and might even be superior. After browsing I was pleased to find that once again I had made a real saving, I had purchased my 3 pack of Verbatim Digital Movie DVD's for £1 in Poundland. Most online retailers were offering the DVD's for between £3.79 and £5.03 so if I had decided I needed more the maths works out that I could have in fact purchased 9 DVD's for my £3.00 instead of 3 and had an extra 79p to boot. Most of you will have no doubt used a very similar product for Backup's and saving those precious files. The DVD's in question... Read review

...the bubbled one, which I'm sure won't work. So that's only 50% good, so far. I'm not happy, especially as they cost £15.64 from PC World. I won't buy them again, which is sad, as everything I have bought from them in the past has been fab, and I was happily paying a bit more for a great product. Maybe I just got a rogue box....... I will try taking it back to PC world and let you know how I get on, but the store is not close to home and I don't go there too often, so it'll have to wait a while.... Read review
