...Right........ i purchased my VFR a month or so ago, allthough i also owned one about 5 years ago as well, i have owned a wide variety of bikes since i was 16, so i think im pretty used to good and bad points of bikes!
I,ll start from the front and work backwards!
Front wheel is 16 inch, which is a pain due to the fact that there is a limited tyre choice, my bike has bridgestone battleaxe bt45s which i dont really like, allthough this maybe the fact im not used to the bike yet!
The front forks are very soft, (probably due to this beeing a jap import bike and beeing built for 8st japanese people not 14stone lads like myself!) but this isnt really a problem in every day use.
As far as i can gather from forums and my previous ownership fork seals dont fail very often.
Steering head bearngs seem to be fine as these bikes dont get...

Review of Honda VFR400 NC24
Advantages: Value for money and superb scenery Disadvantages: High specifications required
...VRF RealScenery Volume 3 - Wales & South-West England (PC)
Let's start with the basics:
This is Compatible with Windows XP or Vista. YOU MUST ALSO HAVE FLIGHT SIMULATOR X
System Requirements:
Processor: 2.5GHz
Ram: 1.0 Gb or greater
Hard Drive: 12.0 Gb or greater
Video Card: 126Mb or greater
Other: DVD-ROM drive
VFR stands for "Visual Flight Rules" - this is the way that pilots navigate when they aren't using complex instruments - they look at a map and then pinpoint landmarks on the ground to work out their position. To do this in a flight simulator requires scenery that's exactly the same as the real landscape. VFR Real Scenery is an amazing piece of software that provides just that - fly over England and Wales in Flight Simulator X and sample the view you'd get from a real aircraft. You can see the real countryside from...
Advantages: Ride comfort, handling, excellent braking system, feels planted Disadvantages: Slightly larger fuel tank would make this a 100% perfect machine
...almost the same size tanks and 3 - 4 litre reserves and the pan european has a massive 29 litre fuel tank, I just wish Honda had made the VFR tank 25 litres or maybe given a reserve tank of 3 - 4 litres over the std 22 litre tank. Not a complaint though - I'll simply have to move house closer to work as I don't see me falling out of love with this perfect commuting / touring machine for a while yet. So 98 out of 100 for Honda - if it had a couple of extra litres fuel tank capacity it'd be 100 / 100 no problem....
Advantages: Speed, comfort, handling, reliability, economy, class Disadvantages: None
...How did Honda do it? Back in 1986 when the VFR750 was first introduced Honda was on the slippery slope to motorcycle oblivion.
They had proved to one and all that they couldn't make a reliable V4 engine. The early eighties V4 engined models, the VF500 and VF750, both blew up if ridden hard, and wore cam chains out at an alarming rate regardless Honda's in line four cylinder bikes were failing in comparison to faster rivals from Suzuki, and more reliable bikes from Kawasaki. The smaller bikes in the range were dying a death too, Yamaha and new Italian manufacturers taking over Honda's bread and butter market with aplomb.
In short the big H's motorcycle arm was in big trouble.
Then along came the VFR 750 and everything changed. The first models were C registered 86 bikes, and featured a more powerful 100hp engine, 16" front...

Review of Honda VFR 750
Advantages: Fantastic engine, perfect build quality, lack of flashy graphics Disadvantages: Come on, it's a VFR, there are none. Ok, brakes a bit lacking in feel
...The Honda VFR 750 has, in its later forms, been rated as the best all rounder of the two wheel world. How does a used example stack up against the seductive charms of newer flashier models.?
I've had mine for 18 months now , it being a late model 750, made just before the fuel injected 800 was produced. It's the bike I got back into biking for, a combination of restrained styling and swiss watch like engineering.
The heart of the bike, the wonderful v four engine, idles a bit lumpily unlike in-line fours but produces a wave of torque from as little as 2500 revs.
You can ride it by just walloping up from 3 to 8 thousand in any gear and the feeling is addictive. Above 8 k the engine note drops, the exhaust starts to wail and you can hear the carbs sucking air in through the intakes mounted under the front indicators. In a world...

Review of Honda VFR 750
...and immobilizer as evidence of your intention to keep the machine away from the thieves.
How grateful I was that my limited budget narrowed-down the choice of bikes (get behind me, irony) and, I was able to dismiss whole categories of bikes as inappropriate - ie cruisers in the Harley mould and trail style bikes. Nought wrong with them, but not for me. The current Mrs Oedipus was all for riding pillion and the option of a European tour was also in our mind so the choice was really between a tourer and a sports-tourer.
It took all of about ten minutes (and I'm slow) for me to settle on the Honda Interceptor (known in the UK as the VFR800FI, a much catchier name, you'll agree). If you're scouring for a bike you could do a lot worse than first checking out the motorcyclenews.com site for a review and specs then hot footing off to the newsagents...

Review of Honda Interceptor
Advantages: Good handling and looks Disadvantages: Not enough sunny days
...Motor bikes never appealed to me when I was younger. I was always far more interested in cars and after a few pathetic attempts to ride a bike in my teens I decided that was it. The time went past and I never really thought any more about it until I was in my early 30's when I moved jobs, and became friendly with a co-workers who was a confirmed biker. His enthusiasm for biking was infectious and soon I was starting to recognise different types of bikes and itching to get my leg over! So I did my CBT and pottered around on a Yamaha YB100 for a few months till I passed my test and then I bought a Suzuki GS500 to get some experience. This was about 1991 and what I really wanted was a Honda VFR400R (NC30) but they were too expensive and only affordable in my dreams.
I had my GS500 for a couple of years, then circumstances left me...

Review of Honda VFR400- NC30
Advantages: Top handling, good top speed and entry level sports bike Disadvantages: Small for taller heaveir riders
...The second bike to grace my garage was maybe the biggest step forward I have taken to date. It was a Honda VFR400 NC30
this is the model with a singe sided rear swing arm (the part that the rear wheel is attached to). It was a 1991 bike with around 30.000km on it. Km due to it being a grey import, that is to say this bike was not imported by the manufacturer. I belive that these bike did have a limited official import run for a couple of years.
The reason I say it was such a step up is because it was the first bike I had over a 125. Having passed my test it was a matter of days before I went down to the dealers. Due to complicated UK license regulations restricting the power output of a rider under 21 to 33bhp I realized going for a large powerful sports bike would be pointless. The restriction kit imposed on the engine would...
