Like a lot of central Rome, the streets around here are in a vague grid pattern and are pretty narrow with not a lot of sunlight reaching down to street level. This keeps it relatively cool and the prospect of the Spanish Steps at the end of the streets is an appealing vista. Most of the street is pedestrianised although there are other streets crossing it that are open to vehicles so it's best to keep your wits about you as most Italian drivers don't. We stopped here for lunch at a little place just off Via Condotti on Via Borgognona, and although it wasn't particularly cheap, I was surprised that it wasn't a total rip off being situated in this locale. ViaMichelin X950, excellent value for money system

Advantages: Clear screen, accurate directions, good support from viamichelin website, slim and lightweight design.
Disadvantages: Battery only lasts 3 hrs.

Traveling Via Vias

Advantages: Lovely beach....the south of France, dahling
Disadvantages: Not much to do without a car

...for return flights (in August), about £20 return per person on trains and around £50 in total on all the taxis. Vias itself is quite isolated. The old town part has a station but is served by only local trains and not very frequent ones at that. Busses link the tourist areas with larger towns nearby like Beziers, but these are equally infrequent - in the height of summer there are just 3 per day, between 7.30am and 11am so if you want to travel on one you need to get up and go. Taxis have to be called from the nearby town of Agde and can take over half an hour to arrive. Chase the chicks, meet the Locals!

Advantages: Short, sharp and an old fashioned chilling horror!

Get Shopping on Via del Corso.

Advantages: Plenty of variety, not all designer, lots of affordable places, food and cinema.
Disadvantages: You might fall in love with designer clothes in the windows!

.... Via del Corso runs from Piazza Venetia, below the Il Vittoriano monument in the center of Rome, all the way up to Piazza del Popolo in the north of the city. It's one of the biggest streets for shopping in Rome and is frequented by tourists and locals, looking for a variety of goods. There are no sites that would be of interest to a tourist on Via del Corso, but there are so many very nearby such as the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and Forum Romanum. So if you're doing a lot of walking around the city, then you're bound to find yourself on this street at some point. It's certainly well worth a visit as it's an interesting street with a good variety of shops and a good atmosphere. ...I can?t do an overly detailed review of my local police force in Chester, Cheshire as I have never actually been involved with the police in anyway neither negative nor positive nor honestly hope to be in the near future. ...Very disappointed! I have the French map only version with the latest software Vs7. I brought it due to the full European life time license for live traffic information including major roads not just the motorways as some have. Unfortunately to receive this information you need to be connected to the car mount and have its external aerial connected. This makes forward planning an testing experience of hanging out a window with a damp finger against the contacts on the unit while trying to tune to a FM signal. But back to basics. Version 7 was only released in the UK at end of October I seem to have a pre launch version . I contacted Via Michelin, not easy, and they have added a rushed French manual on line but its poor pictures and layout make it very difficult to use. it seems any changes to try and improve the poor performance...

...For a good night out visit Via Fossa on Canal Street in Manchester. There are tables outside for when the weather permits and inside there are different levels and a dance floor DJ and lots of nooks and crannies to hide away in and enjoy the evening!! One thing to watch out for though are the low flying speakers *g*. A friend did manage to walk into one of them ... he was under the influence of alcohol at the time but it is something to be aware of. People are friendly and loo's are clean which is a big plus in a busy place in town!!There was still toilet roll left at the end of the night, a real bonus. It's worth paying it a visit and I am sure that once seen you will want to go again!! It is open until 2am so you can party half the night away in one spot at least *s*...

VIA TV - Don't Buy!!!

Disadvantages: Too many to list here!

...Do not, under any circumstances, buy anything from this 'business'. Ordered (and paid for) an item and a week or so later received email saying the goods were delayed in a container somewhere. Smelt a rat so cancelled, as was an option at that point. Received cancellation email with promise that money would be credited back within 7 days (even though I paid through paypal as an instant payment). Following non-receipt of refund tried continually to contact Via TV and only after email was sent threatening Paypal / trading standards complaint was email received stating that they werent able to give me a refund as I had never paid for the goods! That's a new one! Sent back PayPal receipt along with transaction reports so wll see what happens next but am not confident of receiving a penny back with out a fight, probably through the Pay...
