The Young Knives - Superabundance review

Advantages: Catchy songs for any indie fan
Disadvantages: A few weaker songs on the second half of the album

...The Young Knives have recently gained more exposure on radio stations and having caught the end of a set at Reading festival I decided to give this album a try and have thoroughly enjoyed it, playing it on repeat on my CD player since then. It sees the band's follow up to the full length album The Voices of Animals and Men (2006). The album starts of very strongly with the first song "Up all Night," which is the strongest song on the album. It is three minutes of catchy indie rock from start to end. Perfect for an upbeat song that could be a favourite on any dance floor. Overall, the first half of the album is very strong, before a good, if not spectacular second half. "Terra Firma" is in a similar mould to the first song, providing an upbeat indie song you can dance to. Other highlights are "Turn Tail" and "Counters...

Victorinox Swissbit USB flash drive - 512 MB

Advantages: Durable and Well built. Nice Design.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have any Swiss Army Knife accessories

...with USB 1.1 ports but it doesn't work with those in my keyboard. The transfer of data is as fast as any other flash drive I have used. The drive comes preloaded with security software to prevent unauthorised access to your data although this only seems to be compatible with Windows machines. Overall this a decent USB stick that works well and is a more attractive design than most. It feels very durable and well put together. 512MB isn't a huge amount of memory these days so I would recommend going for at least the 1GB model. Some people may prefer Victorinox's other USB Swiss Army Knives which have the usual knife and accessories in addition to the USB stick. However, for transporting data, especially on planes, this device may be the sensible option....

..."Playing with knives?.." What's going on? Have I awoken from a 5-year coma following my shoulder operation 2-months ago and no one has told me? Once I overcome the grogginess following the ½ hour procedure, and had managed sufficient sleep and snoozing, I checked my mobile phone for messages noting that those that had come through all stated the same date - 29th March 2006 - that I had gone into hospital, only it was 6-hours later and I was feeling a hell of a lot more pain in my right shoulder ? plus it looked damn messy to! Yet, it appears as though the world has gone even more insane overnight than I had remembered ? 51 stabbings there were over this last weekend in the UK, 2 of them fatal. The Police currently have a weapon, or more specifically, knives amnesty in the UK, encouraging the public to give up their weapons...

Global Knives

Not only are the prices on her web site extortionate for knives at £110.00 for a set of three, Victorinox are readily available in the UK. Victorinox are the famous makers of the Swiss army knife and one of the best makes I know of. Maybe I should explain that I used to be a cook for many years, until ill health forced me to give it up. I haven?t any scales so cant give you the weight but it does lie heavily in your pocket. I don?t like the transparent case but this is the only gripe I have. My favorite, and most used tool to date is the mini flat-headed screwdriver. I have already tightened my glasses, replaced a tiny screw in a motorbike model and opened a model paint pot lid with it.
