Review of Argos TV and Video cabinets by
mumagain
Advantages: Strong and sturdy, bags of room
Disadvantages: Only available in beech effect, some of the intructions were not very clear
...After getting a few problems with our sky box turning off for no reason, it was suggested by one of Sky’s technical advisors that it may have been caused by the box over heating due it being positioned on the top of our video recorder. As a temporary measure, we ended out putting our video recorder and Sky box, on the basic TV/Video stand that we had, so that they were no where near each other, with out TV positioned on our table that formed part of a highchair. All seemed to be fine for a while, until we noticed that the table had become somewhat wobbly, so there was a strong possibility of it collapsing at any moment, to the cost of a fairly new TV.
It was simply no good; we really did need to buy something a lot stronger and much more suitable that would accommodate for our increasing electrical gadgets, before the whole lot came...

The hidden command of World War 2
Review of Cabinet War Rooms (London) by
eddybennet
Advantages: Reasonably priced (for London) and lots to see
Disadvantages: Narrow corridors could create accessibility problems; can be crowded
...Tucked behind Downing Street with access from Horse Guards Road in central London, the Cabinet War Rooms were the highly secret nerve-centre of Britain's strategic planning during the Second World War.
Hidden beneath yards of reinforced steel and concrete, the War Rooms housed Britain's senior military staff and provided safe quarters for Winston Churchill and the wartime Cabinet.
Now converted into a tourist centre/museum, the War Rooms have been left in the condition they were found when they were finally locked up in 1945. From Winston Churchill's trans-Atlantic telephone room to Mrs Churchill's own bedroom and kitchen to the Chief of Staff's central map room, the War Rooms revel the hidden organisation that went into Britain's wartime efforts.
Much of the musem is experienced through glass screens, but with a handheld Audio...

Welcome To The Videos
Review of Guns 'n' Roses - Welcome To The Videos DVD by
lizzy8
Advantages: great music videos, like 'November Rain', 'Don't Cry' and 'Paradise City'.
Disadvantages: No extras. A few videos missing that I feel should have been on it.
...As a huge fan, and someone who regrets not being old enough to ever see this band live when they were in their prime, I'm sure you can imagine my excitement when Guns 'n' Roses were announced as performers a few years back on MTV Video Awards. Though it was clear Axl Rose was the only original member left, there was still much anticipation as I felt even with the new band members, it would still have that old Guns 'n' Roses feel to it, due to the fact that I know Axl Rose made a great deal of the decisions and chose the direction music wise, in the days when Guns 'n' Roses were truly on top. This was going to be amazing. Although I would not be able to see them live at the MTV Video Awards, them performing there surely meant there would be a tour.... perhaps even another album...
However. Excitement quickly turned...

Creative live! Cam video IM pro
Review of Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro by
Deal_lion
Advantages: Great quality picture and video
Disadvantages: Quite pricey compared to other webcams
... Overview
I brought my Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro last year (2006) around about the Easter period as I had been using the MSN messenger service for quite a while and a lot of my friends and family had them and so I thought that it was about time I got one too.
Price
I first brought my Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro at a PC world in Canterbury, it cost me about £30, however this was quite a while ago and I have looked around and on the internet I have found the same webcam for around about £20 so do your home work first.
Picture
The Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro can take photos at an incredible 1.3 mega pixels which is one of the highest quality still picture capture for webcams and you'll be hard pressed to find better.
Video
There is additional free software that comes...

Ulead VideoStudio 8 Complete Package
Review of Ulead VideoStudio 8 Complete package by
ilaskey
Advantages: Ease of use, SmartSound, improved audio and titling
Disadvantages: No background rendering, some new features a bit fiddly.
...Ulead's Video Studio 8 adds new features to an already highly capable yet easy to use program, it's difficult to see what if anything can be added at this price point that could possibly deserve a whole version jump from 7 to 8.
Opening the Box
As well as the CD, Ulead Video Studio 8 includes not one but two printed manuals. The first is a user guide to the software. This covers all the basics and helps get you up to speed quickly without being too onerous a read. Also included is a rather neat guide to Digital Video editing in general by Douglas Spotted Eagle (really!). For beginners this is a great read and Ulead deserve a big pat on the back for including this second book.
System Requirements are getting slightly heavier with a Pentium III 800 with 512Mb being specified for editing (you can get by with 256Mb if you don...

Red Hot Greatest Videos
Review of Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Greatest Videos DVD by
dazmatron616
Advantages: The videos and special features
Disadvantages: The layout of the DVD intro selections
...Red Hot Chili Peppers - Anthony Kiedis (Vocals), Flea (Bass), John Prusciante (Guitar), Chad Smith (Drums)
This DVD of the Red Hot Chili Pepper's greatest videos is a big selling DVD version of the Red Hot Chili Pepper's greatest hits album. The DVD shows the best and worst times of the Chili Peppers success and even the making of the videos within the special features. The videos play for 58 mins and the extras running time is 104 mins. The extras include the making off and their tour diaries.
I bought this DVD about 2 years ago from my local Asda for £9.99. I don't know the reason why I bought it but I loved it! I watched the videos to 'Can't Stop' and 'By The Way' because they were 2 songs I had heard. 'Can't Stop' is a very random video including many weird props to make up the video such as dustbins and glowsticks. 'By The Way...

Would Hardly Call it a Video 'COLLECTION'!
Review of Savage Garden - The Video Collection DVD by
HannahBoo
Advantages: Good Videos of some of Savage Gardens best songs
Disadvantages: Only 5 music videos, No extras (no interviews)
...***ABOUT SAVAGE GARDEN***
For those of you who don't know, Savage Garden was a successful Australian band. The two main members of the band Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones started working together in 1993. In 1995 they began work on their debut album. Their debut album was released in 1997 in Australia and reached number one on the 'Aria' chart. 'Truly Madly Deeply' is perhaps their most well-known song in the UK, where sales went platinum. After much success and world tours, Darren and Daniel decided not to carry on with Savage Garden. Darren Hayes has since released two solo albums and is due to release a third this year (Darren is also due to tour this year).
***THE VIDEO COLLECTION DVD***
This DVD contains the music videos of five songs (all of which appear on Savage Gardens debut album). The following videos...

pop goes the .. ermm .. video
Review of VH-1: Pop-Up Video by
xcaseychaosx
Advantages: Funny , Colourful
Disadvantages: Bad for slow readers
...Pop up video gives an informative and light hearted approach to various music videos , from all kinds of bands.
I found it quite addictive to watch , but it is usually on quite late and can be hard to follow when you're already drifting off to sleep .
As it shows each video , every few seconds a colorful and witty caption will pop up on the screen , saying something about the artist or a fact about the video , some of which are often very funny.
I would reccomend this programme to any music fan , because what ever the video is , i always find myself looking at the captions on screen even if its a westlife video or something ... because often they will say something bad about the band and quite cruel which makes you chuckle to yourself ;-)
This show would be suitable for most people of most ages but the captions can be quite hard...

Video Nasties
Review of Video store by
MadCat
Advantages: Friendly atmosphere, staff discount
Disadvantages: Very few other staff benefits
...I've been working part-time at Choices Video in my home town since September 2001, and I have to say that, most of the time, I really do enjoy my job. The people are friendly, it's quite flexible, but the pitfalls are a real pain sometimes.
BACKGROUND
-------------------------
Choices Video is part of the Home Entertainment Corporation, which aside from video rental shops also distributes rental products to local shops such as Alldays and independant ones. They have their own film distribution arm, Mosaic Entertainment, which buys rights to video and dvd of films. HEC was founded in 1985, and the first Choices Video rental store was opened in 1986. There are now 213 branches in the UK.
WHERE I WORK
--------------------------
I work in the smaller Ipswich branch of Choices (there are two). We're situated in a row of shops...
