My contract was only to be for 5 hours a week, but during the first two weeks I came in for about twice that, for training on the main aspects of working at the shop. When I first started here I was on a three-month probation period, which is standard practice. The computer system at the time was of the type where you can add new members/rent films/ sell items with your eyes shut if you were used to the system, but a complete mine-field if you were new! I learned all this quickly, and also had to watch a training video from the VSC which played out scenarios of underage people attempting to rent a film, to get me used to the type of excuses and ploys which were commonly used, and how best to say no without causing ructions...

...Ah, Steven Seagal: The now fat, past his prime Aikido expert/invincible movie star, who critics loved to endlessly pick gripe with and fans at the very most could just about tolerate. Seagal never actually looked anything like the trend of the typical '80s/'90s action star, which was set by the Schwarzeneggers and Stallones of the generation -- what, with his greasy pony tail, bloated figure and extravagant dress sense. Out For Justice, however, was a by-the-numbers action flick, with Seagal playing Gino Felino, a tough, incorruptible Brooklyn cop, who was out to avenge the death of his partner Bobby Lupo. Welcome To The Videos

Advantages: great music videos, like 'November Rain', 'Don't Cry' and 'Paradise City'.
Disadvantages: No extras. A few videos missing that I feel should have been on it.

...disappointment when the band hit the stage to close out the awards ceremony. Axl Rose was almost unrecognisable, with his dreadlocked hair, and awful plastic surgery. As he ran around the stage he could barley hit the notes he used to, and he was clearly out of breath, out of shape, and out of tune. The once forthcoming Guns 'N Roses album, Chinese Democracy has been plagued by constantly changing release dates and has become something more of an urban legend in the music world, as fans have lost all hope of it ever being released. ...This pocket sized guide is filled with 500 free days out in Britain. It was first released in 2005 and reprinted in 2006, but I have not found that any of the recommendations are out of date (I mean, none have closed in the meantime). The book costs £4.99, but you shoudl be able to get hold of a copy much cheaper than this. Mine was only £1.00 from The Works. It's worth the fiver, but obviously the cheaper it is, the better the value. The book is divided into alphabetically organised sections. It is organised first by country (England first, then Scotland, next Wales, lastly the Republic of Ireland), then by county within that country, again in alphabetical order. The name of the county is written down the side of the page so it's really easy to check you're still looking in the right place, especially on the pages where two counties...
