An interesting and well written little book

Advantages: A well written book that you won't forget.
Disadvantages: I hated the ending

Timoleon Vieta Come Home By Dan Rhodes I picked this up from the library thinking that it looked different from anything I had been reading lately and the very plain cover, with an abstract look dog on had caught my attention. This was one of 'those books', you know the sort, after the first chapter or two, I had no idea what to feel about it. The further I got into it the more I had to carry on reading and I started to take a real shine to this strange little book. The writing was so effortless to read that it should really have been boring, but it wasn't. The characters so different that they should have been off-putting, but they weren't Timoleon Vieta is a dog, just a common little mongrel dog with patches of black and white fur and "eyes as pretty as a little girl's". So many lives and one dog..

Advantages: Great stories, interesting characters.
Disadvantages: Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but worth a read.

...The story follows a dog, Timoleon Vieta, who finds himself to be very far from home. We follow his attempt to return whilst also meeting various people and being let into their lives. The first person we meet is Cockcroft who is the dog's owner. He is a retired, gay composer who lives in solitude in rural Italy. We learn about his past love affairs and are introduced to the boy in the silver shorts, the boy who he always thought about. We also learn about how he picks up his lovers, by visiting places and handing out his business cards. This is how we meet the next character, The Bosnian. The Bosnian is a grumpy man who is supposedly escaping from people who want to kill him. The Bosnian does Cockcroft's house up and instead of paying money for rent, he 'services' Cockcroft. The Bosnian dislikes Timoleon Vieta immensely...

The People's Tenor

Advantages: A unique, fresh voice. Handsome guy. Will be around for a long time.
Disadvantages: His first effort is not bad and subsequent CD's get better.

...Dorma, Nella Fantasia, and Amor ti Vieta. His voice, phrasing, and control are all superb. The orchestrations are good and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra does a fine job. The Voice is a good place to start if you are thinking about adding Russell Watson's music to your collection....

Advantages: Cheap tickets and with easy access to venues
Disadvantages: Some events/programmes did not suit my availability

Again, for the succeeding performances as he rendered Giordano's 'Come un bel di maggio from Andrea Chenier', the 'Amor ti vieta from Fedora, Leo Cavallo 'Intermezzo' from Pagliacci and 'Aria di Canio' proved Cura's superb and charismatic ability which the audience gave him a standing ovation. HISTORY OF TENORS ON ONE CD

Advantages: All the hero's in one
Disadvantages: Mixed sound recordings Sound louder and quieter in places

...At first glance you would imagine the CD to be the normal mainstream nonsense with Russell Watson singing Amor ti Vieta, but when looking at the back you do see that this is a quality CD. So lights down low CD player on high and a nice Glass of wine and you are ready for an audio trip through operatic tenor modern history. Track List: (THERE ARE 27 TRACKS IF YOU WANT A SUMMARY OF EACH ONE THEN READ ON OTHERWISE HEAD FOR BOTTOM OF REVIEW) Track 1: O Paradis sung by Enrico Caruso What a start to the Cd.
