...the station approaches are being rebuilt, and we were there at the height of a summer heatwave. A little shabby and seedy in places - in the streets near the station dubious-looking characters are selling oddments of merchandise, old and new, from suitcases or makeshift stalls - but it is easy to ignore their blandishments. This is the Quartier Belsunce, the old Arab quarter, but we are soon through it and into the business district behind the Vieux Port. The Vieux Port is the ancient centre of Marseille, the inlet that formed the original harbour. It is no longer used by serious shipping. New docks, container and ferry terminals have been constructed along the coast to the north, leaving the Vieux Port to cope only with pleasure craft, of which there are plenty. A good natural park near Montpellier

Advantages: fantastic rocks

...While on holiday we visited Montpellier Le Vieux (Montpellier the old man) This natural park is in the area called Aveyron in the south of France about 12k from Millau along the d110. . This is a natural site known for its rock formations its fauna and flora. It is a spectacular sight of grey coloured black causse rock that has been shaped by the wind, the rain and time to make the most amazing shapes. The whole of this area of France is very rocky. This small spectacular, site Montpellier le vieux was discovered and developed in the late 1800?s early 1900?s into the site we found. We found this site by following a map we had it was not really very easy to find there were few signs along the road and we did find one leading to a narrow road which went quite a long way before we reached parking for Montpellier le vieux. A family friendly French holiday

Advantages: A fun and filled family campsite with fantastic amenities
Disadvantages: We had to leave to go home!

...We booked to stay at La Croix du vieux pont as a luxury tenting holiday. I call it luxury as we booked through 'Canvas' who are one of the camping companies available. This basically means that we get to choose our campsite and on arrival the tents will be already assembled and furnished. As we were traveling with eight year old twins and a two month old baby we wanted this trip to be as easy and stress free as possible. We decided that we didn't want to drive too far so staying around the Paris area in the Ille de France region was a very good idea & this campsite looked like it was just what we needed. *Arrival & check in* We took the ferry from Calais to Dover (included in the Canvas price) & then had to drive across to Berny Riviere in which the camp site is located. We chose during our journey to avoid as many motorways...

...An interesting album of French music. The singer is from France and has been around for a long time. Some songs are better than others. I would recommend this album as an easy listening record. Cheese please.

You can find out more at the website www.cheese-france.com/roquefort.html ***THE EXPERIENCE*** The cheese is soft and I was able to spread some over a cracker, it did not add much to the flavour. The taste is complex, creamy and soft. It tastes rich, salty with a sharp, tangy flavours. The strong flavour suggests at least for me that it should be taken with a biscuit or cracker (given the fat content filling up with this could be risky). I think a ryvita detracts none from the flavour. Its price makes it more expensive than Stilton so I guess you'll save it for special occasions. Any update will include the experience with wine....
