Canon Powershot - Above Average

Advantages: Nice for a small camera, Good settings, Nice overall camera
Disadvantages: Noise @ Low light, Batterys recognised as empty

..., the powershot is very easy to use, its nice to hold and your hand is positioned well for all types of use, the screen is clear and a non digital viewfinder makes it very nice to use although this is not as accurate as you would expect, it has a button on the front which seems a bit out of place but im pretty sure its supposed to evaluate white balance, This camera hasn't been advertised as a very durable camera or a waterproof one, but a few light splashes of rain didn't do it any harm and it has held together after a few bumps, it does show paint scratches though, its case is a hard plastic and is quite seamless, Canon have done a good job at designing this camera, it boasts as a camera that is compact enough for a pocket and also has the usability of a bridge camera, the small bump on the left gives you great grip and gives space for two AA...

Review of Canon Digital IXUS 100 IS Digital Camera

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode

...as a viewfinder like in a digital camera, potentially allowing you to take pictures at interesting angles. However the auto-focus is much slower in live view, and the pentaprism viewfinder (as opposed to pentamirror in most DSLRs) is so good that is end up getting down in the mud anyway! Movies The D90 also shoot HD movies, which is a feature I have used a lot. In my opinion, the quality is not that great unless you use a tripod, and you have to use manual focusing to refocus mid shot, with kind of ruins that bit of film with by wobbling the shot and introducing a loud sound as you turn the focus ring. Nikon D40 is the DSLR you'll ever need

Advantages: Excellent image quality, good core functionality of an DSLR, cheap, portable and lightweight.
Disadvantages: Megapixels may not be sufficient for some, no autobracketing and no autofocus with non-AFS lenses

...Although introduced many years ago, Nikon D40 is still my favorite DSLR due to its compact size and affordable price tag. It is the best entry level DSLR in the market, at a price much cheaper than the more expensive compacts and semi-pro. Nikon D40 is a fast 6MP camera with a large 3-inch LCD, 2.5fps continuous shooting, 1/500s flash sync and a bright viewfinder. What it lacks are a status display and a built-in auto-focus motor. Megapixel count does not matter. It only matters if you like to crop your pictures or print huge sizes. In fact, the higher the MP count the more noise is produced during capture. Nikon D80 review

Advantages: High quality sensor, fast, responsive, it's a Nikon!
Disadvantages: Erratic light meter

...This is my first Digital SLR camera and have found it to be very good overall. The 10.2 megapixel sensor records very fine pictures especially when set to 100 ISO. Noise or grain gets quite noticeable when set to 800 ISO and above but still usable up to 1600. The D80 is fast and responsive and has Shutter priority, Aperture priority, Manual and loads of Program modes which I never use. The viewfinder is bright and clear and the playback screen is very good. The minor drawbacks are: 1.Erratic light meter, but easy to compensate. 2. No ISO reading in viewfinder. Easy to forget to change to desired ISO. 3. I often change between single frame, multi frame and self timer and find this button awkward 'cos it is recessed. 4. Only 95% viewfinder coverage....

KODAK EASYSHAREZD710

Advantages: Picture quality and excellent zoom lens
Disadvantages: The lens cap is easily dislodged

...I too bought this camera recently and its great. Comfortable handling, controls are easy to understand and use and it takes fantastic pictures. Having a viewfinder is so much easier to take good pictures. I have been using a Nikon Coolpix and must admit when I first got it (bought online) I was disappointed it did not have a viewfinder. Taking pictures when it is windy is well nigh impossible without a viewfinder, however, I persevered and although the Nikon takes good pictures and is handy to snap away then pop in your pocket, I still missed a viewfinder. With the Kodak having both options, by screen or viewfinder I am really enjoying my new hobby of photography. The Kodak's zoom is excellent and image stabiliser very effective in windy weather. I bought a refurbished model and so far no problems at all. Absolutely delighted....

A Very Good Choice DSLR And For The Price Cannot Be Bettered

Advantages: Great pictures, great price with lots of old quality kit to be had for it a not a lot of money
Disadvantages: Not the build quality I was expecting and a few setting need tweaking.

...by any amount that makes it easier to lug about but just smaller enough to make it a little bit awkward to hold comfortably. You do get used to it but at first it is a squeeze. It may sound like I am moaning about this camera but these things are just the small little niggles I want to get out of the way first. It focuses whenever you put your eye to the viewfinder which might be a good feature, speeding up you taking your shot but anything near the viewfinder sets this off making carrying the camera when switched on noisy and battery draining. You can switch this off so it is not a big niggle. It has a built in flash that if set on Auto will pop up whenever it feels it must. This also can be switched off. So, that's it for my list of bad points about this camera. Aside from the above very minor moans it is a very, very good camera...
