Crucial to get good memory
Review of Crucial DRAM 512 MB PC2700 by cootuk

Advantages: A quality brand name you can trust
Disadvantages: not the fastest memory timings

...packed, and include instructions on fitting. There is a lifetime warranty, and a 30 day money back compatibility warranty for added piece of mind. In this case my PC takes PC3200 non-ECC DDR ram. A 512MB stick cost £61 inc delivery. The CAS latency (another measure of the memory speed) is 3, which isn't at the best end of the scale, but Crucial are introducing a new Ballistix range with faster timings - though with an appropriate price premium (the CAS2 Ballistix ram would have been £88). The CAS latency is really only important if you intend overclocking your PC memory and forcing it to run at a faster speed than it was really intended to, or if you are going to set aggressive memory timings in your motherboard bios setup. I'm not doing that, so this stick is fine for me One good thing about Crucial ram is its ease of resale. When you... Read review

Good value memory
Review of Corsair Value Select DRAM 256 MB PC3200 by sillylizard

Advantages: Upgrading memory is best way to improve performance
Disadvantages: You must make sure you get the correct type of memory!

...If you are running windows XP you really need minimum of 128Mb, but you will notice a big improvement with extra memory. Adding 256Mb can give your computer that bit more speed for everyday computing use. If you are intending on handling photos etc thought you really should look at 512Mb and 1Gb (1024Mb), particularly for the price difference. Memory is also probably the simplest thing to upgrade inside a computer, it takes only a couple of minutes to insert the chip and then you are ready to go. In general, no settings need altering in your computer (since it already has some memory, it now just has more, unlike when its faced with an entirely new device). When upgrading memory you must check exactly which type you need: First check that you have some slots free. If not then it will involve removing one of the existing chips... Read review

Memory is Memory!
Review of Kingston ValueRAM DRAM 256 MB by JonFeathers

Advantages: Good Make, Good Value
Disadvantages: None, Its memory.

...At the end of the day memory is memory, whether it is a generic brand or Kingston or Crucial isn't really going to affect things that much. However when choosing your memory be aware of what kind of memory it is you are choosing. The first thing is MB - MegaByte. This could be 128, 256, 512 and so on the more Megabyte you have the quicker your system should run. As this is 256MB you have a good size for running normal everyday tools such as Outlook, Internet and Word. However if you are into CAD drawing, using your PC as server or intense games you might want to look at 512MB. The next thing is memory speed. In this case it is 333mhz (PC2700). It could be 266mhz or 400mhz. Obviouslt the higher the better. However in order to really utilise this you need to have a processor that has a front side bus of the same or faster... Read review

Cheap, easy and reliable
Review of Corsair Value Select DRAM 512 MB PC3200 by sillylizard

Advantages: Inexpensive, reliable, memory upgrade gives huge boost in performance
Disadvantages: You must make sure you get the correct type of memory!

...type you need: First check that you have some slots free. If not then it will involve removing one of the existing chips. Secondly you need to know the type. Old pentiums will probably take SIMMS (72pin), in which case you need to buy a pair of two chips. Anything will use DIMMS. Usually pentium 2 will use SDRAM 100Mhz or 133Mhz (168pin). Pentium 3s normally take DDR SDRAM (184pin), which can be either 200Mhz, 266Mhz, 333Mhz or 400Mhz. Although 200Mhz is very rarely seen. Roughly speaking a 1 to 2Ghz processor usually goes with 266Mhz RAM, 2-3Ghz with 333Mhz and 3+ with 400Mhz. Very new computers will take DDR2 (240pin) which is even faster speeds. To find out exactly which you need consult the motherboard manual. If that fails then open up the computer and look at the chip inside. If you are lucky it will have a sticker... Read review

GeiL 512 PC3200 DDR Ram
Review of GeIL Value DRAM 512 MB PC3200 by tungst3n

Advantages: Reliable, Cheap, Ram Heatsinks, Dual Channel friendly
Disadvantages: None - As yet

...I bought two of these sticks at the same time for use in a Dual Channel motherboard. They have been very reliable and my system has been rock stable. When buying DDR ram make sure you buy in pairs, make sure it the same rated speed and make sure you buy enough! The memory is very pleasing on the eye, as it comes intalled with two RAM heatsinks - Useful if you want to overclock or your system runs warm. The memory I got was rated as 512MB PC3200 DDR400 CL=2.5-6-3-3. The memory also has a sticker confirming Speed, Cas Latency Rating and Batch number - Useful for getting matched pairs. All in all cheaper than the "Overclocking" memory brands but as reliable, butnot with the inherent risks of using unbranded memery. Recommended.... Read review

GeIL 400 MHz / PC3200 512mb memory
Review of GeIL Value DRAM 512 MB PC3200 by KnowledgeBase

Advantages: Reliable, efficient
Disadvantages: None found yet

...I recently completed my first self build computer project. After having bought a pre-build last time I decided to do it myself this time as I have been inside my old one enough times to know what goes on. My last computer used unbranded memory, and I feel this caused compatability issues with components I installed. I decided to opt for GEIL memory this time, and have installed two 512mb sticks giving me 1024mb of random access mem. Im running the mem with an AMD 64bit 3000 939Winchester processor and an ABIt AV8 mobo and have had no compatability issues. The hardware analysis software SISoft Sandra 2005 informs me that its currently running 1gb memory, which is acceptable. Ive run prime95 on it for 24hours including tests such as 2500 lucas Lehmer iterations and the mem is stable. It remains stable when moderatly overclocking... Read review

512 Megabytes of RAM - as smooth as it gets.
Review of Kingston ValueRAM DRAM 512 MB PC1600 by Pisces1977

Advantages: Good price, neat design, reliable, excellent capacity and great performance
Disadvantages: None

...an international network of distributors and OEM customers in the US, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Latin America, representing more than 3,000 locations worldwide. -------------------- About the Memory -------------------- As I've already written a similar review regarding the 256 MB, PC3200 DDR - a lower capacity module than this 512 MB PC3200 DDR type. I guess I will have to input some similar information already on my other review - just in case readers don't read my previous 256 MB PC3200 DDR's review. As some of you may be aware that handling electronic devices without due care can cause damage to the device by electrostatic shock, I suggest new-users (or continuous users) to touch full stainless-steel kitchen taps (or any unpainted, grounded metal object) to drain electrostatic that's already charged around your body (clothes, hands... THE VIDEO MEMORY CHIP.
Review of Video memory - 512 MB x 2 - EDO RAM - SOJ 40-PIN by packerlist

Advantages: REALLY EXPANDS YOUR VIEW.
Disadvantages: : 512MB NOT LARGE.

...This is a video memory capacity device that can help you in expanding your view by attaching the video memory device to your electronics. By having this, the memory capacity of your system will expand and not only that, it enhances the colour resolution of your picture. As a hard core PC gamer, this has helped me a lot in enjoying my PC games in high definition graphics and I think this will have no substitute for a long time in my system. There are 2 40- pin small outlet j-lead Dram memory in the 1mb video memory upgrade of the video memory to access. The two40- pin modules are plugged into the SOJ socket on the system planar board. This also enables high resolution and offers good security. All these features make it a very good video memory device and second it is of good value for money. This also has 1mb EDO video dram 50... Kingston
Review of Kingston ValueRAM DRAM 512 MB PC1600 by coopsta133

Advantages: good price and value. Good brand
Disadvantages: Not the fastest around.

...Here you have the Kingston ValueRAM DRAM 512 MB PC2100 (266mhz). Kingston has always been known to by many to be very good, reliable RAM being delivered to you at low costs which is excellent. I have used Kingston many times and never experienced any problems what-so-ever. You can purchase this stick for around 35£ from a place such as ebuyer. It just shows that it is kind of outdated as it has dropped from the 65£ or so it was when it was originally developed! This stick of RAM I would not recommend if you are a gamer as Kingston offers a bit more than 266MHZ (the speed it is rated for) in some of its newer sticks. I do say that this is good for a computer that is used for simple day to day tasks such as word processing. It is great for use in the office. That is where I have mine installed. Installation is a breeze: Just follow... Read review

I get all my presents from here, you know
Review of watford.co.uk by Nolly

Advantages: Swift ordering, friendly emails
Disadvantages: You need to know exactly what you are looking for

...SiSoft Sandra what memory I had and needed, I went internet shopping. It is, by the way, extremely important to check what you need. Your motherboard will have a maximum memory and need a particular kind of memory module. Mine for example, could accommodate a maximum of 512MB in 128MB modules (so there was absolutely no point in buying a stick of 256MB) of 168 pin PC133 DIMMS. What I am saying before I continue is check nefore you buy, you could make a big mistake, so go steady and don't buy 1024 MB when your system can only take 512MB! I knew anyway what all this information was, and hopped off to my favourite computer website, www.savastore.com, which is watford electronics website (if you were to type in www.watford.co.uk you'd be diverted there). I like visiting there as I can configure my dream computer (dream for me is a computer... Read review
