No such thing as too many backups
Review of Handspring Flash Backup Module by ESpy

Advantages: Fast, cheap, works
Disadvantages: Small enough to lose

...The backup module is to my mind the one absolute must-have accessory for the Visors. It is an 8Mb flash module that slots in the Springboard slot, and makes a copy of the contents of the memory of the Visor - all the appointments, settings, phone numbers, programs - everything. And it does it within a couple of minutes. Once inserted, the Visor runs the backup software on the module, giving you the option to back up the Visor or restore from the backup module. Select the option, and off it goes. When it is done, pull the module out and the Visor goes back to whatever it was doing beforehand. This was my first introduction to Springboard modules, and I was extremely impressed at the way it just... worked. No fuss, no need to install anything additional, just slot it in and go. I have had to use the module in anger a couple... Read review

512 Megabytes of RAM - as smooth as it gets.
Review of Kingston ValueRAM DRAM 512 MB PC1600 by Pisces1977

Advantages: Good price, neat design, reliable, excellent capacity and great performance
Disadvantages: None

...on the centre of the module and those 8 chips shown on picture are both-sided, adding a total of 16 chips. Works perfect on Intel Pentium 4, AMD and other types of computer systems where requirements are met, this Memory gives you great performance increase, good reliability and comes with a lifetime-warranty. I have two of these already installed in my computer, totalling a good 1024 MB (MegaByte) capacity, enough for users who like to work on Graphic design programs such as PaintShop Pro 9, Corel Draw 12, or even using Microsoft Office programs. Works great on games too, there is a lot of noticeable difference on gaming with 1024 MB DDRs which I have right now since my previous review regarding testing with two 256 MB PC3200 modules - totalling 512 MB, the test was fine, but there was a blink of pause from two 256 MB DDRs (512 MB). With two 512 MB... Read review

Xbox 360 64MB storage device
Review of Microsoft Xbox 360 Memory Unit flash memory module - 64 MB by jammyd0

Advantages: good for beginers
Disadvantages: very little storage space

...My experience with the Xbox 360 64MB storage device is that it is fine for storing say 10 games but once you are passed that it becomes a matter of either buying another or just buying a hard drive. I would recommend this to a first time buyer of an Xbox 360 as when u have just bought one it generally would come with a game or games. So if you would rather just play through those games I would advise the 64MB storage device as it's cheaper than cashing out on a hard drive at that point in time. The disadvantages of these though are if you buy an Xbox live gold subscription you won't be able to download nearly enough which would mean that the money you spent on the 64MB storage device would have been wasted so in this case the storage device is almost pointless. So in conclusion I would say that this is a good purchase for beginner Xbox... Read review

THE VIDEO MEMORY CHIP.
Review of Video memory - 512 MB x 2 - EDO RAM - SOJ 40-PIN by packerlist

Advantages: REALLY EXPANDS YOUR VIEW.
Disadvantages: : 512MB NOT LARGE.

...ns and also gives access time of 50ns using extended data out and allows you to choose from larger pallet of colors at higher resolution. The modules are also configured 256x 16bits each for a total of 1mb of additional memory for the video/ graphics sub system to access. The feature you as a user is going to enjoy most is the high colour resolution that will bring out the graphic and picture of your system. The high colour resolution has a lot of advantage and it works more on PC games especially and that is where you ought to enjoy it the most. SOME KEY FEATURES It starts with having 512mb storage capacity with system specific upgrade type. In terms of memory, it has video adaptor memory with EDO RAM technology and also has 256X16 module configuration. It also has SOJ 40- pin... Read review

Xbox 360 Memory Unit
Review of Microsoft Xbox 360 Memory Unit flash memory module - 64 MB by JamieJCO

Advantages: Can transport gamesaves and Gamercard information | Light and easy to transport |
Disadvantages: Over-priced | Very little storage |

...The Xbox 360 Memory Unit serves as a useful tool for taking your game saves and Gamercard with you wherever you go. The small memory card fits into one of the slots in front of the Xbox 360 console, and it is then registered as a new storage device immediately. Any game saves can then be automatically saved to your Memory Unit. If you have files that you wish to move onto your Unit then it is very simple and quick to do so. The file you wish to add to your Memory Unit simply has to be moved from the Hard Drive via the Memory menu on the Xbox 360 Dashboard, a process that is very easy indeed. From there it can be moved back to your own console whenever you wish it to be. Whilst this is handy for moving your files around, it definately isn't recommended as a permanent storage solution, simply because of the small size. Notably, the 64MB... Read review

The future of portable music is here...
Review of Creative DAP Jukebox 6 MB Silver, Blue by section31

Advantages: Massive storage capacity, Playlist editor, Stylish design, Acts as battery charger (batteries included), The satisfaction to be had, from telling people that it is not a CD player, but a state of the art mp3 player, and watching them drool
Disadvantages: Price, Bulky (make sure you have large coat pockets, or you wear stupidly baggy underwear)

...Currently the market for mp3 players is rather static. This is due mainly to mp3 players being overpriced, and not having enough storage capacity to make them a worthwhile alternative, to minidisc, and CD players. However the D.A.P. looks set to change all that. Creative, have realised the pitfalls of using memory modules, which can hold on average 32 megabytes of mp3, this is approximately 16 tracks recorded at 96kbs. Instead Creative has stuffed a 6GB, that’s right a 6 GB hard drive, in this little joy. That’s more mp3 than most have on their computers anyway. This means an entire music collection can be stored on one portable device. The 1000’s of files can then be organised into play lists, and grouped together, so you need not be overwhelmed by the mass of music at your fingertips. The hard drive has a 8mb anti... Read review

This little camera beats many big names hands down
Review of Konica Digital Revio KD-310Z by RichardElliott

Advantages: Super quality pictures and very compact
Disadvantages: Takes time to recharge and lens assembly feels fragile

...I had my doubts about the true value of a digital camera, having used bulky Sony Mavica and Fuji digital cameras at work. But as my birthday approached and my wife kept badgering me about what I would like, I decided to have a look at digital cameras. I looked at some of the big names -Sony, Fuji, Olympus and Canon and at Konica and Minolta. The chap in the local camera shop showed me examples of photos he'd taken of Ramsgate Harbour and the amazing thing was that the realistic quality of the reflections on the water from the boats was far superior for the Minolta and Konica than for the mainstream equivalent models. Armed with this, it was down to design and the cigarette packet size of the Konica sold me on it. The camera can take both SD and Sony stick memory - both at once even and comes with 16 Mb to get you going. A 128 Mb SD... Read review

A Card Reader Don't Arf Save Yer Batteries
Review of Sandisk Imagemate compact flash USB reader/writer by BNibbles

Advantages: One bit of kit allows both mp3 player and camera to upload/download
Disadvantages: Oh no, there goes my last USB port!

..., the camera has to be powered by its mains-adapter, otherwise the PC’s USB port will not “see” it. Therefore, yet another mains plug point is needed. 3.IBM Microdrives take a heavy toll on battery life in the MP3 player, (and to a certain extent in the camera too) and the last thing you want to do is waste it on the fairly lengthy process of downloading music to it. Then, whilst tooling around on the www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk site, I was idly looking at the price of some solid-state memory, like 256mb of CF2 to solve my battery life problems. Unlike the IBM’s, this memory does not have an electric motor in it, and therefore makes batteries last a lot longer. It does, however cost £124 for 256 mb of RAM. It struck me that a good compromise solution could be reached by buying the SANDISK USB COMPACT FLASH II CARD READER. This is a small... Read review

I decided to treat myself - Boy am I glad I did
Review of Kingston HyperX DRAM 512 MB PC3000 by alanrodmell

Advantages: Top Quality, Super Performance
Disadvantages: Its not cheap....at all. Top end of price range

...especially for multimedia applications and gaming. The memory module I bought, after much thought about whether I wanted to pay $80 on 512MB of memory, was a 400MHz DDR SDRAM HyperX Module. When I recieved it I was chuffed with it, mainly because I felt like a proper gamer because I had some High Performance memory, and also because the module is a cool Blue colour due to the included heat spreader. I popped it into my system and powered it up. The Kingston Module was running alongside an HP 512MB 400MHz module but they worked seamlessly together. The Kingston Module was superior in terms of performance but as well as performance you must ensure that the modules you buy play well with other makes of memory. The Kingston memory provided a noticable boost in performance. In some case I saw an improvement of upto 15fps in some games. This may... Read review
