The village hotel & leisure club in Wirral.
Advantages: Clean and fresh
Disadvantages: Like a rabbit Warren
...The village hotel & leisure club in Wirral
Have recently joined here and at £32 per month, each, we feel we have a bargain. They even waved the joining fee, normally £70.
We joined, my wife and I, on the ?Flexi? promotion. This is where you are only tied in for 3 months as opposed to the ?Full? 12 month tie in.
Extras given include £15 to spend in their restaurants, 10% discounts in the bars and coffee shop and 2 free vouchers for friends/family. The vouchers entitle the user to a free week in the gym, pool etc worth £70.
If you recommend someone and they join you also get £50 of a nights stay in the hotel.
A fair few incentives but to be honest we just want to use the leisure facilities.
My wife is recovering from Breast Cancer and she has some back problems resulting from the Radiography. She...

BEST HOTEL LEISURE CLUB IN AREA
Advantages: Brilliant unbeatable leisure club, clean and at reasonable cost
Disadvantages: Hotel food average, Chistmas parties a disappointing rip off
...). There are no consesions for pensioners either ( there is a Dudley) It seems each club has the flexibility to have slightly different tariffs and rules. Although become a member of one Village club you can attend any, I often pop over to Dudley to meet up with my Mum who is a member there and visa versa.
The Club on the whole is exceptionally clean and been a member of several clubs in my 40+ years I feel I can comment. I am rarely disapppointed by this, the staff are all very friendly, cheerful and generally accommodating some I would even say go the extra mile the leisure staff managment are always willing to listen to comments/complaints.
The gym is in a windowless room but well equiped with free weights aerobic equipment and other instruments of torture, again rarely am I waiting for a piece of equipment to come free, they have...

Relax And Take In The Scenery At The Village
Advantages: Lovely scenery, comfortable beds, nice leisure facilities
Disadvantages: Pool not very family friendly with children only allowed certain times
...direct line with the hotel. During the night I did not notice the noise from the planes probably because I slept so well. In the morning the noise was louder again, but it didn't ever bother me greatly.
Currently there are 117 rooms with en suite bathroom, colour TV (most with Sky including sports channels and movies), direct-dial telephone, hair-dryer and hospitality tray.
My favourite part of the holiday and stay in the hotel was the leisure facilities. We spent a whole morning just relaxing in the pool, jacuzzi and steam room. I was a bit disappointed that the sauna was not in use when we were there, but the steam room was available and that was nice. I would have liked to go in the sauna and felt it was a bit unfair I had paid the money and couldn't use all the facilities.
I liked the family changing rooms as I cannot walk...

Getting fit the Village Way
Advantages: Nice hotel (from what I have seen), excellent leisure facilities
Disadvantages: Standards have slipped slightly recently
...Before you start reading this review I should make it clear that this review is predominately about the leisure club (of which I am a member). Living 10 minutes away from the hotel as I do I have never really felt the urge to stay there! I will try as far as possible though to give my thoughts on the bits of the hotel I have seen.
Hotel location
The hotel is situated in the Cobalt Business Park, which is just off the A19 meaning it is easy to get to from either the A1 coming from the south (leaving the A1 before the Tyne tunnel) or from the A1 coming from the North, leaving at the Cramlington turn off. The location of the hotel, in a business park means that a lot of the guests during the week are people travelling on business to the various companies in Cobalt and the surrounding areas. The weekend clientele seems...

Buzz into Bury?
Advantages: Very good value for money, for facilities offered, especially for families
Disadvantages: none
...Bury might not be the top of everyone?s destination list, although it is not a million miles from the more popular city centre of Manchester (and linked to the city via the metrolink network). However being from Lancashire originally, I have just spent the best part of the last two weeks in the region, including a couple of nights at the Village Hotel and Leisure Club at Bury.
Village Hotels are part of a much larger group, including De Vere Hotels, Malmaison and Hotel du Vin. I have been familiar with Village Hotels for a long time, having frequented many a works conference or party at other hotels within the North West 15-20 years ago; (however I should point out that I now work for another part of this group.)
The hotel, which is a modern purpose built hotel, is easy to find from the Manchester Ring Road ? situated just off...

Feel like a Partridge in a Hotel Room
Advantages: Good Leisure Facilities
Disadvantages: Microwaved or Deep Fried Food
...I genuinely used to get excited about going to stay in a hotel, don't ask me why? It probably stems back to my youth when hotels meant holidays and a little adventure.
Of course now I'm allegedly grown up it staying in hotels has become a little more mundane, and this is one adjective I would use to describe the Village Hotel and Leisure Club Swindon.
Village Hotel & Leisure Clubs are a chain of hotels across the country owned by the De Vere group, the chain that owns the rather famous Belfry. However I feel as though the one visited in Swindon is at the other end of the market.
I must apologise for being so negative so early on in this opinion, I stayed at this hotel for a period of 5 months continually, only going home at weekends, as I was working in Swindon at the time. It is true I was Alan Partridge for 5 months, or it...

The Village
Advantages: Atmosphere. Well produced - Escapist
Disadvantages: Story line too unrealistic for me
...Last week I came across one of those special offers in HMV (4 DVds for £20). It was end of the season sale and I picked up a film called "The Village" just to make up the numbers. It struck me as being some sort of clichéd horror film from the blurb on the cover and I didn't expect to be watching it in the very near future. But it was one of those DVDs that keep popping up every time I looked through my shelf of dozens of other unwatched movies. Well the other evening, it popped up again and I just put it in the machine without giving it too much thought. As I wasn't in the mood for thinking anyway, it would probably be an ideal film.
As we got into the film, enter the monster, well, a glimpse of it. It was supposed to be scaring me but even my wife, who makes me jump out of my skin with her sudden screams in scary movies, remained...

Quiet to crash out in
Advantages: more or less comfortable
Disadvantages: too far out from Manchester
...I stayed in the Village Hotel & Leisure Club in Bury in February 2004. Bury is about 10 miles away from central Manchester. And I wouldn?t say it?s ?an ideal location to visit the sights and sounds of Manchester city centre? as the hotel website says. To get to the city centre you either have to use taxis all the time or take a bus to Bury railway station first and then get a tram to Central Manchester. The total journey time is 50 minutes and this is providing you don?t have to wait for a bus.
Checking in was quite easy. Form filled in, facilities explained, etc. My room was pretty clean but not particularly spacious. Two beds occupied most of the room, then there was a table, bedside table, wardrobe, mirror, TV, tea/coffee making facilities, ironing board, telephone. My room was overlooking a field so it was very quite which I...

The Village
Advantages: You will enjoy it
Disadvantages: None
...The Village, written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan on a budget of 60 million dollars, was going to be a tough follow up for a director known for his twists and turns. As it turned out, there was a twist, but it was a rather low key one, and it was almost apparent from the start, though it is not without a small end revelation, that will surprise you.
This movie starts off really slowly, leading you into the lives of a group of villagers, who live on the outskirts of a wood, in 1897 Pennsylvania, which is seemingly haunted by some nasty hideous monsters, referred to only as, 'Those we do not speak of'. A village where the colour red is not allowed, as it is the colour of evil. The Elders, who have set up and run the village, teach their children that the Towns outside their village is a bad place, and they must never cross into...
