The Niagra of St Vincent
Advantages: Very picturesque, nice plunge pool to swim in, plenty of diving in points
Disadvantages: Not as big or impressive as I was expecting
...The Falls of Baleine are located on the North West side of St Vincent and can only be reached by boat, therefore for tourists that don?t know anyone on the island the only way to get there is to go on an organised tour. A lack of tourists on the island will mean that getting a tour is not as easy as it is in other holiday destinations, where you are touted everywhere. In St Vincent it is the tourist that has to do all the hard work and actively seek out excursions because the tour operators/locals will not come to you. Whilst you will pay for the boat trip to the falls, entry is absolutely free and other than any other tourists that may be present you will be on your own.
We managed to catch a boat from India Bay and the trip to the falls took around thirty five minutes. Given the size of St Vincent the trip to the falls will be...

A Caribbean experience in St Vincent
Advantages: Cheap, gorgeous scenery, fantastic beaches, nice locals
Disadvantages: Few resorts, you need to know a local
...St. Vincent and the Grenadines (?SVG?) is located in the Windward Islands at the lower end of the Caribbean chain. SVG is situated between Grenada 75 miles to the south, St. Lucia 24 miles to the north and Barbados 150 miles to the east. SVG has a tropical climate that is influenced by the North East trade winds, resulting in a minimum temperature of around 28 degrees centigrade, and boy does it get hot in the summer months. St Vincent is often referred to as the ?Jewel of the Caribbean? and once you get on the island and do a bit of exploring it is easy to see why.
Tourism
Tourism obviously brings in money and this is something that the Government are actively trying to grow. Whilst there is some tourist activity in St Vincent, there is not that much compared to other Caribbean Islands. On one hand this is nice since...

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Vincent Bang Go
Advantages: The back drop of LA at its best at night-time and dialogue scripts
Disadvantages: 120 minutes flew by
...Vincent Bang Go
Director Michael Mann
Run Time 120 mins
Cert 15
Year 2004
'This is a collision of two lives? All collapsed in the events of one night? '
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Michael Mann explored the night scenes to limit with this epic. Unquestionably riveting from the off; the scenes fill the air with night-time shifty-ness and blatant testosterone overload. Mann made it artistic, chic to the bone; an exploration of circumstances that catapult lives together, thrown to the mercy of fate.
-- --
There is a genre that Mann certainly can nail and that is ?crime? ?suspense? and I?m going to add artistic flair to the trio. Jamie Foxx with two exs, that?s not a typo. Foxx got an award for his role as ?Max? the cabbie; a dreamer...

The island of the rich and famous
Advantages: Gorgeous, quiet and un-touched beaches, some great properties
Disadvantages: Very expensive, not much to do for the day tripper
...Mustique is a 1,400 acre island located in the Southern Caribbean. This private island is owned and operated by the Mustique Company. This is an organisation which comprises of shareholders from 17 countries whose aim is to preserve the natural beauty and tranquility of the island.
We flew direct to Mustique from St Vincent and I understand there are flights from other East Caribbean Islands including St Lucia and Grenada. The airport in Mustique is tiny and comprises of nothing more than a couple of small concrete runways and a wooden shack. This airport cannot cope with large aircraft and the only way of landing on this island is in very small charter planes and helicopter. Our flight to Mustique was on a plane that could carry 7 passengers and during landing we nearly overshot the runway. Despite its size Mustique airport is...

A top performer and musician!
Advantages: Great all round cd for traditonal and modern pipe music.
Disadvantages: Not enough Tracks
...I met Stuart when we were both playing at a gig in Londonderry, N.Ireland. He was over with his group the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. The promotions team that had invited us over was trying to get us both drunk at a reception afterwards. Anyway he mentioned that he was releasing a new cd, and sure enough a few weeks later is was released into some of the high street music shops so i just had to buy it.
So the cd went into the cd player and straightaway i knew it was a good buy as Stuarts playing was exciting, invigorating and inspiring. The Cd starts with alot of emotion and energy. Phil Colins states on the cd sleeve that, '"the pipes are like the open string Rickenbacker of Pete Townshend. Not much between them."
Here's a little about Stuart;
Stuart Cassells is one of Scotland's leading young bagpipers and has gained the title in...

A Last Hurrah for Quality Drama
Advantages: Slick and moody with excellent storylines
Disadvantages: Perhaps a little too moody for some
...might not be far wrong). So, thank Heaven for DVDs.
***
Series Background
Vincent Gallagher (Winstone) is an ex-cop now running a team of private investigators in Manchester. They tackle anything, from insurance swindlers to benefit cheats, but the series itself deals (naturally) with the team's meatier and more dramatic investigations. Vincent is aided and abetted by his two senior assistants, Beth (Suranne Jones) and John (Ian Puleston-Davies) as well as by the two 'office juniors', a sweet single-mum, Gillian (Angel Coulby), and a techno-geek, Robert (Joe Absolom).
When not devoting his time to investigations Vincent is struggling to come to terms with his ruined love life. As the series gets under way we quickly learn that his partner, Cathy (Eva Pope), has walked out on him and moved in with one of his former police...

Hauntingly Good...
Advantages: Interesting films, Vincent Price is great to watch
Disadvantages: Poor quality
...With my 40th birthday coming up, I was given some money, which I chose to spend on buying some classic films on DVD from Amazon UK. On one of the film yahoogroups I am on, we recently discussed how good old horror movies were and I remembered especially liking two Vincent Price films ? The Fly and House of Wax. This led to my searching for his movies on Amazon and I ended up purchasing The Vincent Price Collection for £4.98.
The boxset comprises three films ? House on Haunted Hill (1959), The Bat (1959) and Shock (1946). All three are black and white films which look as if they?ve just been recorded off the telly! The quality is not as good as I would have hoped for, but if they had been remastered, they wouldn?t have been so cheap, I suppose. Anyway, they are certainly watchable and I enjoyed each one.
Vincent Price had a long...
